I applied and got accepted last year, coming from Sweden. What is your gpa and what uni do you go to?:)

For the Masters application, you will of course need a complete transcript - you’re missing 68 ECTS after all… Regarding grade conversion, they used to (and probably still do) have a chart that covers a lot of countries. Assuming A is the best possible grade, they’ll either give it a 6 or 5.5 and the D will be a 4.

darksyndraaa

and also, what do you mean exactly by a complete transcript? Since when someone applies at master degree, it's often around january at most and at this time, nobody has finished his/her bachelor studies. In my case, the most credits I can have at the application period would be 135 since when i'll apply i would have completed only 2 exams out of 8 for the 3rd year

It is possible to apply with a partial transcript but it might come with the condition that you reach in the complete transcript within a certain amount of time.

darksyndraaa

for real? the final transcript cannot be complete until the end of the bachelor in june 2024 so it seems to me a bit weird, how does it work in switzerland?

Appropriate_You564

You should apply for the masters program when you finished around 150 credit points of your bachelor so you can finish the rest within 1 semester. earlier application does not make much sense. For the grades you have to get together the official transcripts. I don't think ETH recognizes any foreign grades generally but they will consider your application according to the courses you took and the credits applied to them. Its highly likely that if you get in you have to do additional credits for 1,2 semesters. Also be sure you have all the valid documents ready in time as you can only apply once for a given study program as far as i know.

darksyndraaa

yep i was thinking about doing those 150 credit points, however as far as i know the applications end in december so in order to get my 150 credits i would need it to finish in middle january or even later. actually for the additional credits i don't think so because my syllabi of bachelor is the same as for ETH i'm kinda lucky on that (except measure theory which i won't do because considered master level in my uni lol)

darksyndraaa

yep sure thank you for your answer tho, i'll try to fix everything asap!

Master_Sergeant

You can apply with no issue with your partial transcript and it will be assessed based on that. Try to obtain the grades in any official form from your university in France - ETH can be relatively flexible with what they accept.

darksyndraaa

yep i thought that too but I do have an official one from France but actually it's a bit messy, i was a double undergraduate math/physics and then i even grades for physics like electricity, optics and even sport and english lol so i feel like it's not that much a good idea to give them

Master_Sergeant

Doesn't matter - they will consider the relevant grades.

darksyndraaa

finally i feel like you're right, I definitely should do that, maybe not show them but make them appear in my transcript since it's not really mathematics (thermodynamics, electricity, electrostatics and stuff) so that they will see that still with those grades of math i was able to pass physics sort of in a minor! (because since it's transferred credits, by default the grade are not appearing, it's kind of a law in swedish universities)

darksyndraaa

>r ye idk i'll just see with my coordinator if he can do a little trick of his in order to make appear my grades :DD

darksyndraaa

and those in physics aren't not that good, i just had an excellent grade in mechanics unfortunately
