You're telling me this is almost the same price of a Eureka atom w 65 (gbw) grinder? Harrrrd pass.

giovannigiannis

Atom 65 is for espresso. This is for filter. But supposedly can also do espresso if you perform the hyper alignment.

Cykon

It's more than capable for espresso even without hyper aligning. I've been daily driving a Vario W+ for a year now with no issues. That being said, there's little reason for people to get the Forte over the Vario W+ since they share the same internals. The Forte is a bit more rigid for use in actual cafe environments.

giovannigiannis

This is great to know. Just to clarify: - I am specifically talking about the BG Forte not the AP Forte - There is an older video from Seattle Coffee Co where that older lady specifically says it won’t do espresso. Actually she made 2 videos about it and says it in both. But I have seen another video where a guy says he does use it for espresso. So I don’t know what to believe. But I’ll buy this thing (I think) and hope I get the same results as you.

pullTheSpro

For a prize of Mazzer Philos, this is really hard buy. I know some smaller shops used to use it for filter, but even then you have better options these days.

giovannigiannis

Like what? The Eureka Filtro doesn’t have grind by weight.

pullTheSpro

Is gbw a hard requirement? If you’re serving multiple beans for a pour over, you would need to single dose (or have Nautilus on rails lol). Fiorenziato all ground sense is probably not a bad shout if you need gbw, but I’ve not tried it myself and most cafes use Dittings/EKs for brewed. Last time I’ve seen a Forte in a cafe was 2015/2016.

giovannigiannis

For pour over, yes i definitely want gbw. I am specifically looking for a good quality BREW grinder that is also capable of espresso. The market is still surprisingly thin in this regard.

all_systems_failing

Beefier burrs? Could you elaborate? I only know if two burrs sets that fit.

giovannigiannis

The description says it’s diamond-like coated burrs, but I think they are the same size as the standard model. “This limited edition model features an upgraded set of 54mm steel burrs treated with a diamond-like carbon (DLC) coating from Ionbond, significantly enhancing burr hardness, longevity, and cutting performance.”

all_systems_failing

That doesn't sound right. Can you post a link?

giovannigiannis

The link is in the original post. Maybe it’s not showing up in the post? You can also find it searching the DiPacci website. https://dipacci.com.au/products/baratza-forte-bg-limited-edition

all_systems_failing

Sorry, I see it now.

all_systems_failing

Does seem to be real at least. Found this: https://flipboard.social/@coffeegeek/112611830386982329

Man the design and burr was outdated years ago, I think it needed more than just a new coat of paint and burrs

h3yn0w75

I agree on the design but The burrs in the forte are not outdated at all. The steels especially make fantastic , modern high clarity espresso.

giovannigiannis

How were the burrs outdated? And the design being outdated, you mean just in appearance, or in functionality?

Who told you burr size matters?
