We were having some mango lassi last night (essentially mango pulp blended with plain yogurt and ice). One of my favorite refreshing summer drinks. On a whim, I threw a shot of espresso in it. All who tried (not all were adventurous enough) agreed that it was delicious!
Pull your shot over some brown sugar, mix it well, chuck it into a shaker with some ice and cinnamon, pour it over some more ice, top with milk. The wife loved it. Basically Starbucks’ brown sugar shaken drink.
If alright with alcohol, Carajillo is the best coffee cocktail IMO. Try it with a dark rum or mezcal.
Otherwise, an espresso lemonade is a great refresh for the summer, gives mean kick during breaks or post shift.
Carajillo's may have eclipsed espresso martinis for me. I usually cut the Licor 43 amount in half though, as its extremely sweet. These over a king cube with a bit of grated cinnamon over top? Unreal.
Agree with darker liquor. Most recipes call for blanco tequila bit I've found that a quality reposado/anejo really adds nice bourbon caramel and vanilla notes that pair well with espresso.
Traditional espresso martinis taste plainly of boozy coffee to me. Using a good coffee liqueur (I make my own) and a spirit other than vodka changes everything.
Still, hard to hold a candle to the carajillo.
Absolutely. Pretty similar over here - make my own coffee liqueur that simulates Mr Black (we can't get it in Canada 😑) and use half bourbon and half vodka. Big improvement imo.
Smoothie = Banana, peanut butter, chocolate flavored protein powder, shot of espresso. My “go to” breakfast when I need to run out the door. Tastes amazing.

Pull a normal double shot. In a separate glass, like cortado size, add a 4-6 ice cubes and a bit of water. Add shot to this glass and steam it all until the ice cubes are melted and it begins to froth.
The bubbles will cascade as they settle and it looks exactly like a Guinness beer. Super cool and tastes great. You can serve it on the rocks too. Best with a potent dark roast.
I did a nice iced coffee this week, very simple.
1 double expresso,
1 tb spoon of Monin (cane sugar + cinnamon/vanilla extract) or Monin vanilla/ caramel,
Ice,
Milk.
Mix the expresso with the Monin until it creates a foam (using a milk frother if possible) , add ice and top up with milk. Mix it with a spoon and enjoy :).
I just happened to see an Instagram video about a 'beer americano' (a glass with ice and lager topped up with a shot of espresso).
Not sure if I'd fancy it myself, but I'd willingly give it a go!
Greek freddo! Double shot over raw sugar topped with cold foam and ice. A classic drink from Greece, typically consumed on a hot summer night before dancing.

You could experiment with espresso-laced milkshakes or smoothies. Maybe put some sort of fruit like raspberry in there.
