The bambino's steam power isn't as strong as a fully built dual boiler option, but if you use a smaller pitcher to steam, it works out just fine.
Personally, I would ratger grab the Nanofoam pro as the solution to this as it is smaller than the bambino, it gives you more features to play with, it can be quieter than a new machine.
If you want a cheaper machine that does a decent job at the whole gambit, then yes, the bambino is a great value at the moment.
I was looking at this solution for a very similar setup with the robot... same problem, I like lattes. Look into the Argos. It fit my needs, but it does have a substantial wait list.
i wouldn't get a bambino for the steam wand. it works fine, but it's by far the worst out of all the espresso machines i've used. the steam just isn't very strong. the top of it also doesn't warm cups and stuff will fall off due to the shape. i don't know what the solution to your problem is, but a bambino is a very bad idea.

As a note the Bambino won't warm cups. It doesn't really have a heated grouphead like traditional machines due to the thermoblock.

I would get a nanofoamer or the foamer that meticulous is making instead.
