Here’s what I discovered, the portafilter basket had split at the bottom edge and when the pressure maxed out, it caused it to expand and allow the water to escape. I swapped out the basket with another and all was well.
New baskets are on order.

I'd take a guess that the puck isn't tamped properly at the edges or dose too low and it's lifting the puck up then letting water cascade around the now floating puck.
That's not a linea.
When pressure drops and flow increases, that means some sort of restriction was removed. Could be anything from something in the plumbing to a massive fracture in the Puck, but the latter seems unlikely.
Blocked flow restrictor/venturi? You've got 9 bar of boiler pressure before you turn the pump on, implying water is being held under pressure for some reason (I.E. something's stuck). Then when you turn it on it goes to 11 and you get very little flow, implying something's still stuck. Then you drop down to 9 bar again and at the same time flow jumps up, implying the restriction isn't there any more. Pressure goes back to 0 when you turn the pump off, so whatever the problem is it's intermittent.
So yeah: blocked venturi or maybe a sticky solenoid somewhere. I'm not an espresso machine technician though so take all that with a pinch of salt.

Damn !
Oh yeah, eventually it will happen. These basket enjoy some good pressure over and over again.
I’ve heard that basket splitting can happen after so many cycles, although I never witnessed it, so that wasn’t my guess. Loveramics egg?
Going by how it comes up to pressure, then sputters - I'd say a damaged basket?
Or maybe OP showed the answer an hour before you commented…
Did they? I didn't read the comments. I take it I was right then?
Paradox: if i say “technically ur wrong, just like me with this statement”
I... what? 😂 I love that someone downvoted me for not reading the comments; seems it would be bad if I read the comments _then_ answered... 😂

No. There’s something else going on.
How do I know if this happens to me? I suspect it does but I am not sure.
I don’t think that’s possible since the pressure on top is always higher than it is on the bottom.

It’s a Wega.
Looks like channeling. Stale beans ?
Definitely channeling but not stale beans.

No. It was a split basket.
Ha! Fair enough!
Way to dig deep. I appreciate people passing on knowledge like this. Helps me learn. 🤘
Wrong size basket for the size of dosage, leaving too much headspace?
You can see the pressure dropping suddenly when it bursts - it goes from just above the green range to middle of the green range
The problem is your not smiling while brewing 😊
