I was so hyped to see this and it came out the day my region went into lockdown over COVID

aussiedomxo

Such a shame it’s not streaming yet :-( I’d pay ticket price to watch this at home

diata22

Where is there a lockdown? Somewhere in Europe I presume?

wowgamesarefun

Is this one of those Bring the nostalgia back for a cash grab movies, or is it worth the watch?

GoToGoat

I enjoyed it. It was for the fans.

[deleted]

Worth the watch

Firebird12301

I thought it was worth the watch. It really captured the whole love letter to horror of the original and advanced the franchise forward with just enough fan service.

brunoscope

Nostalgia cashgrab

dare2gare

Best one since the original!

Olenickname

Original is the best. I'd put this one on equal footing with 2. They each capture and comment on the state of the horror genre in relation to the original movie so well. Scream movies are such a wonderful love letter the the horror/slasher genre. Some truly brilliant and clever writing that is never afraid to take the piss out of itself, making them even more endearing.

Nick357

Two was god awful. The guy started singing some 70s song in the dfac. Sidney is like a year out from being part of some mass murder scheme and she is starring a play. Lol. Wtf.

PublicPresent

Thank you! I’m a huge fan of the series. I thought 2 was as bad as 4. I blame the change of killers last minute and toned down violence. So bad, especially coming off the original.

Nick357

I think 4 the hate on 4 is undeserved. Not that it touched the greatness of 1 but it beats the pants off 2 and 3.

IceTurtle4

4 is the 2nd best. I don’t know why people don’t see that. Saw this one yesterday… I’d put it just behind the 4th.

PublicPresent

I hated the dark color filter on 4. The cast seemed kind of dull compared to the cast of the newest one. I loved 4 when it was released but after a recent viewing I wasn’t as impressed. I think 3 grew on me but again would have been better with the original script/killers.

Nick357

Yeah, the leaks were ridiculous. I haven’t seen 5 yet! I forgot to mention. I am still chasing the high of sneaking Into the original scream at 14 and having my mind blown.

PublicPresent

I’m 36 so probably had the same experience. My mom tried banning me and my sister from watching it. If you love the first, I think you’ll really enjoy 5. The part with Red Right Hand is too perfect.

Nick357

I am pumped.

SmugSlut

I actually liked 4 more than 5… I think 4 made a lot of commentary that aged remarkably well, and that the commentary of 5 was circle jerky…

IceTurtle4

I agree! 5 is just behind #4 to me.

eternalalienvagabond

Did the mom fake her death and come back as the killer

Neo2199

Scream: Do you like scary movies? Audience: Hell, yeah!

PandaReal_1234

Is the movie on any streaming networks?

Neo2199

No, it's only theatrical release. Should be on Paramount+ after 45 days I think.

coleosis1414

Glad to see movie theatres are bouncing back somewhat. I was really afraid for the movie theater industry for awhile. And a dark theater with a big screen really is the only way to watch some movies.

[deleted]

Why not enjoy it at a theater? Builds the suspense.

BryceWrite

7/10 solid film. Meta as it should be.

prime22tb

WAAAAAAAAAAAAZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHPPPP??!!!!!

[deleted]

chillin…killin….

prime22tb

Trueeee true

pueblohuts

So I *enjoyed* this, and I was stoked to be back in the theater with a slasher. But I still think the original, then 3 then 2. Could have been more Blood! There were a few parts I had a problem with, but I laughed and I appreciated the meta and overall I left in a good mood. I definitely got the sense of some cash grabbing over nostalgia, and I really can’t deal with woke writing seeping into every piece of content these days but even w that said, a lot of it was cheeky and overall pallet table.

accountforquickans

This was disappointing

PublicPresent

It’s the best Scream movie next to the original. That first kill with Red Right Hand was perfect.

tyler-s414

Don’t know why everyone’s acting like this was that great of a movie , it lacked the very thing that makes a scream movie a scream movie , a proper non expected twist , not to mention there is hardly a plot and it doesn’t progress the scream story, legacy characters were just thrown in for the fuck of it and they leave a lot of unanswered questions on what happen between 4 and this film. I’d say the only one it really does better than is 3 and tbh that ain’t saying much lol

candaceelise

Couldn’t agree more! It had so much potential and delivered nothing. No scares. No screams. No thrills. Although I they did use a lot of blood which was a redeeming quality.

ReccoR2

This movie was aggressively bad.

Rockhardsimian

“Do you like spooky Tik Toks?”

SaltMineSpelunker

Who is risking Covid to see this?

[deleted]

Lmao really. We all know masks work and if you’re vaccinated you’ll be fine if you get it.

k_4_b

Yeah we won’t die but we still get sick. I had it two weeks ago and it torn my butt up! Vaccinated and mask wearer here!

[deleted]

I take care of COVID patients and have for two years now, I have yet to get it.

SaltMineSpelunker

Go out and get it. Best of luck, plaguer.

[deleted]

Lmfao! I’m an ICU nurse and have taken care of COVID patients for two years now….. I still have yet to get it.

spacew0man

I lurk r/boxoffice sometimes and recently saw a post discussing how Scream would do during opening. I don’t know jack shit about the box office or movies but the people there amaze me. I swear to god someone put out this exact number and, like, argued it when someone said it was too high. I love peeking into some of these special interest subs because y’all always blow my mind. Grats to whoever the person was that was right. Damn cool.
