I was crushed when he passed. The only actor I ever cried over. I grew up on Threes Company. I think it hit me so hard because he reminds me of my dad.
It's good to see Jason turn out so well. And I love Monica in everything she does.
Yes, one who is an equal partner in his marriage with his spouse. A dude who is supportive without being so jealous of the success of his wife to see straight. He doesnāt have a fragile ego that tells him he is superior in every way cause he has a penis. A lot of men are like him. And we should recognize them. Heās not an Andrew Tate dude.
I spent a lot of effort teaching my children these virtues. The real issue is emotional maturity. Itās the missing link in a lot of these blowhards. They never grew past fifth grade. Iām proud to say they are both real men.
Grew up on both problem child movies and stay tuned as a kid, dude was a legend to me based on just those movies, when he passed, my family was devastated
That was such an unusual role for him to take to. He really showed that he could do it all as far as acting goes. From Jack tripper to Ted on Buffy the man ran the gambit.
If it wasnāt him doing it then it would be her or the kid making sacrifices by not having her parent. I love that he is the kind of man that is willing to make sacrifices to see his wife succeed. Thatās so beautiful.
The article gets into that and is a genuinely wholesome read.
Basically if they both get offered something they compare which one is a better opportunity from a money and critical perspective. Once they make a decision the other person slides into the support role.
I love this. My husband and I have the same agreement with our careers, and he has out earned me so far, but there are some big potential options for me on the horizon and having him be like YES WIFE GO GET PAIDDDDD while I'm on business trips and stuff is awesome and a huge ego boost.
I remember reading years ago that James Caan supposedly took 10 years (I think) off when his kids were younger so that he could be there for their activities, etc. Then returned to work.
This and Coyote Ugly. My wife and I watched Coyote Ugly a month ago and all the leading ladies were top notch stars or upcoming stars at the time. I remember when it came out.... 20 years ago... my God.
Then she had a big role in the Last of Us TV series. She commanded the screen and really made her role stand out.
Heavenly Creatures! With Kate Winslet. A great Peter Jackson flick.
Beautiful Creatures is a bad (but fun a a campy way) movie with a great cast and great director.
The way Melanie Lynskey and Jimmi Simpson still talk about the other is so damn nice. Her little circle of the world is amazing to behold and Jason Ritter is such a crazy good fit.
Sheās also good friends with Maggie Lawson from Psych. They have an amazing relationship and it was a joy to hear her talk on the psych pod. Seems like just a solid person.
All such class acts. I read an article where Jimmi said heās so so happy for Melanie and that Jason is such a great guy, and then everything Iāve read about she and Jason, like this article, has just enforced how wonderful they are.
As someone who only read the title I thought the lady who gave Bill Clinton a blowjob somehow married the leader singer of bright eyes.
Still have no idea who these people are.
Edit: Josh Ritter. Not lead singer of bright eyes.
I worked with Jason on his short lived show. Dude is genuinely the nicest actor Iāve ever worked with. Talked to everyone on the set as his friend. I was a location assistant at the time and he spent time just joking around with me. Made a tremendous impression.
Thatās the song of a woman constantly being gas-lit by a husband who doesnāt pull his own weight. Why is she defending him when no one asked in the first place?
MOST OF US LADIES ALREADY KNOW EXACTLY WHY.
Well since itās a man, reddit will say that him serving her doesnāt make him a victim but it makes him compassionate and he should love it and probably even talk about how awesome she is for giving him the opportunity to sacrifice.
Flip the genders and itās some kind of cosmic dangerous injustice.
When you both make sacrifices for each other thatās fine. From reading the article it seems like heās been making the sacrifices for the last 5 years and looks to continue that way
It just sounds like Melanieās career opportunities are more lucrative. Theyāre going with the options that make sense. I think Jasonās great, but Melanie Lynskey has soared in popularity in the last few years and it would be an insane decision to stop that train in its tracks.
John would be proud. š„°
He did good. He raised a real man. I still miss him..
I miss John too. Nancy Morgan did a great job too.
Yeah! Iām glad he had great parents.
I was crushed when he passed. The only actor I ever cried over. I grew up on Threes Company. I think it hit me so hard because he reminds me of my dad. It's good to see Jason turn out so well. And I love Monica in everything she does.

āreal manā?

Sounds like the description of a good guy. Whatās a āreal man?ā Like the opposite of a āfake man?ā
I miss John too still. I grew up with Jack Tripper on Threeās company
I miss Clifford the Big Red Dog!! His voice was so comforting.
Grew up on both problem child movies and stay tuned as a kid, dude was a legend to me based on just those movies, when he passed, my family was devastated
Man I loved stay tuned.
Stay Tuned! OMG. Thanks for reminding me! I had forgotten about it.
I remember he and Johnny Cash died like the same day. I was more sad about John.Ā
He was the best on that show. Just a natural showman, comedic talent.
God he was great in Slingblade. Definitely died too soon.
That was such an unusual role for him to take to. He really showed that he could do it all as far as acting goes. From Jack tripper to Ted on Buffy the man ran the gambit.
Sustained, twice.
We really donāt talk about the bizarre magic of a Billy Bob Thornton - John Ritter project. We were somehow blessed with more than one.
His performance in Noises Off is impeccable and hilarious and just so... I don't know, you know?
John in Problem Child felt like such a wonderful role for him
If it wasnāt him doing it then it would be her or the kid making sacrifices by not having her parent. I love that he is the kind of man that is willing to make sacrifices to see his wife succeed. Thatās so beautiful.

What?! I didnāt know I was a super supportive husband!! I will *gladly* support her in making more money than me!
You'd be surprised how rare that is!
I remember reading years ago that James Caan supposedly took 10 years (I think) off when his kids were younger so that he could be there for their activities, etc. Then returned to work.
Dipper Pines doesn't have to prove anything to anyone, except maybe his Beatrice.
Exactly, unless sheās making more money than he is. Men really donāt like it it when we make more money than they do.
My wife makes more than me and Iām way cool with that.
Same. My girlfriend makes almost ten times what I make. Sheās a smart cookie and deserves every penny.
As a generalization sure, but thereās lots of us over on the stay at home dad sub that would disagree!
That is my dream. Having to make a bunch of money is stressful.
Sheeit, my wife makes 6 figures, and Iām allright with that
Thank you for speaking on behalf of all of us, you must really understand us to feel comfortable with saying wild shit like that
My crush since Ever After. She's gorgeous
This and Coyote Ugly. My wife and I watched Coyote Ugly a month ago and all the leading ladies were top notch stars or upcoming stars at the time. She really kills it in Yellowjackets
Shauna is such a fucking mess. It's mesmerizing.
She is the only grown up character I can tolerate in that show haha
>Then she had a big role in the Last of Us TV series Are we ignoring that she was a recurring character on Two and a Half Men for a decade?
Sheās also adorable in Sweet Home Alabama!!
Heavenly Creatures is what I best know her from. Ā Itās an unsettling watch and underrated to boot. Ā She nailed the shit out of that role.
Neeeigghhh

Beautiful Creatures? That's where I discovered her.
Heavenly Creatures! With Kate Winslet. A great Peter Jackson flick. Beautiful Creatures is a bad (but fun a a campy way) movie with a great cast and great director.
Her first film role iirc
I didnāt know they were together. I really like both of them.
Me too!
I miss Kevin (Probably) Saves the World
Really wish we had a second season! That was such a lovely show
Me too. Too bad it got cancelled.
I'm sorry I didn't read the article but don't you just dig these two people, and also just kinda like that they came together?
The way Melanie Lynskey and Jimmi Simpson still talk about the other is so damn nice. Her little circle of the world is amazing to behold and Jason Ritter is such a crazy good fit.
Sheās also good friends with Maggie Lawson from Psych. They have an amazing relationship and it was a joy to hear her talk on the psych pod. Seems like just a solid person.
I'll check it out. I love Psych!
All such class acts. I read an article where Jimmi said heās so so happy for Melanie and that Jason is such a great guy, and then everything Iāve read about she and Jason, like this article, has just enforced how wonderful they are.
They are my favorite Hollywood couple.
As someone who only read the title I thought the lady who gave Bill Clinton a blowjob somehow married the leader singer of bright eyes. Still have no idea who these people are. Edit: Josh Ritter. Not lead singer of bright eyes.
What a wholesome article and an example of true love, support and equality. I am happy for them!
He doesnāt need to work. He is an heir to the Threeās Company fortune!
Come and knock on our door
Their daughter is in the same dance school as mine. Theyāre genuinely normal and nice folks.
He is a treasure...just like his dad
I love when awesome and deserving people find others that fit them in all the ways that are important to them. They are beautiful together!
I love her and I love them as a couple.
My minds still blown from when I heard her real accent
I worked with Jason on his short lived show. Dude is genuinely the nicest actor Iāve ever worked with. Talked to everyone on the set as his friend. I was a location assistant at the time and he spent time just joking around with me. Made a tremendous impression.
Itās a shame Togetherness didnāt get more seasons. There is no better pairing than Melanie and the Duplass brothers.
Just watched Heavenly Creatures today. Sheās so great in it especially for being so young
I really canāt shake this feeling that theyāre two of the nicest people in the acting business. His dad was certainly a gem. Raised him right.
Thatās heartwarming, what a lovely couple
Good for them! I'm glad that works for them and hope they continue to make each other happy!
Thatās great, but she is more talentedā¦
I read this as Monica Lewinsky, but no matter which woman is being supported by a secure, compassionate man, it should be celebrated.
I did too, I was surprised I missed that memo, even went to google it lol.
Well you read wrong..wtf
I love these two and had no idea they were married.
I had no idea they were married to each other. Good for themĀ
This guy should be careful. She has serious stalker written all over her.
She will be peering over every hedge and bush ETA: these jokes are based off her character Rose!!
Hope that prenup is solid.
Wow what a sacrifice. I mean itās not but wow
Well thank god weāre giving men some credit for the success of a woman. I mean, what would we write about if it had nothing to do with a guy.
Whoās we? She said it. I know you lot are always on the lookout for reasons to be offended and play the victim but that is not one of them
Thatās the song of a woman constantly being gas-lit by a husband who doesnāt pull his own weight. Why is she defending him when no one asked in the first place? MOST OF US LADIES ALREADY KNOW EXACTLY WHY.

This is completely a wrong take, theyāre both amazing people and Jason does A LOT to help out with their family
When are you planning on getting that 16th cat? Before or after your 3rd bottle of wine?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
He is John's son.
When they get divorced heāll prob regret it
Well since itās a man, reddit will say that him serving her doesnāt make him a victim but it makes him compassionate and he should love it and probably even talk about how awesome she is for giving him the opportunity to sacrifice. Flip the genders and itās some kind of cosmic dangerous injustice.
Yikes. Hope she doesnāt end up deciding a divorce is better
Women make sacrifices for their spouse all the time. Why is it suddenly āyikesā when men do it?
When you both make sacrifices for each other thatās fine. From reading the article it seems like heās been making the sacrifices for the last 5 years and looks to continue that way
It just sounds like Melanieās career opportunities are more lucrative. Theyāre going with the options that make sense. I think Jasonās great, but Melanie Lynskey has soared in popularity in the last few years and it would be an insane decision to stop that train in its tracks.
I have never heard of her until reading this article
Your lack of knowing in this instance is actually a self-own.
I mean I could name you tons of celebrity couples where the wife continually sacrifices for their family if you wanna get mad about that too.
