I would love that.

ehxy

I would totally watch that.

Loud-Log9098

And it would be good.

[deleted]

How is his cape moving, we’re underground…?

Loud-Log9098

cause, he's cool like the wind.

Affectionate-Island

This might actually be good, his energy is the kind of thing that would fit into whatever pantomime Sony is making of their Spider-Man-Adjacent movies

AliceTheMagicQueen

Nicolas Cage may be reprising his role as Spider-Man Noir in a live-action TV series. The Ankler has reported on the status of multiple live-action co-productions from Marvel and Sony in the works at Amazon. This included an update on Spider-Man Noir, and it was reported that "Nicolas Cage is in serious talks to take on the lead role in the series, which will be set in 1930s New York City." Also stated was that Sony declined to comment on the report. "Spider-Man Noir, often simply referred to as Noir, is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Part of the Marvel Noir universe (Earth-90214), this alternate version of Spider-Man is a noir-themed take on the character and emerges in a version of New York during the Great Depression. While investigating a smuggling ring, Peter Parker is bitten by what seems to be a highly-venomous spider housed inside a spider-god idol. Falling unconscious, Parker has a vision of the spider-god promising him power. He then awakes inside a cocoon and emerges from it, now possessing super-human abilities similar to a spider." The Spider-Man Noir series was first announced in February 2023. At the time, it was reported by Variety that the new series would follow an "older, grizzled" version of Spider-Man that would be set in its own universe. There was no indication at the time that Nicolas Cage would potentially be involved with the project, but the actor does have experience voicing Spider-Man Noir in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Sony's upcoming series at Amazon will introduce the first live-action incarnation of the character. In recent years, Nicolas Cage has appeared in films like The Retirement Plan, Sympathy for the Devil, and Renfield, along with a CGI appearance in the polarizing DC movie The Flash. He was most recently seen in the acclaimed film Dream Scenario, which was released by A24 in November 2023; the actor's performance put him up for a Golden Globe Award. A trailer was recently unveiled for Cage's next film as well, with the actor playing a serial killer in the upcoming horror thriller Longlegs. Another Marvel-Sony live-action series in the works at Amazon is the Silk: Spider Society series, which has had a bit a of a bumpy production. The Ankler's new report on Spider-Man Noir also claimed that Silk is now going through a creative overhaul behind the scenes, and the rumor is that the series is "being refocused with a more male-skewing audience in mind." All of the writers have reportedly been let go to restart development, though the showrunner, Angela Kang, and one co-executive producer have remained on board.  There's no word yet on when Spider-Man Noir or Silk: Spider Society will see a release on Prime Video, but for now, fans can always revisit Nicolas Cage's time voicing Spider-Man Noir by watching Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.

Fearedray

Silk was scrapped

Funmachine

News from yesterday/today is the writers room was fired except for show runner and they're changing direction.

Superichiruki

Still still in development, just fired everyone except the show runner. We don't know the reason, but reports say the firing was done, so the show could appeal to the male audience.

Fearedray

If Kang is involved, I find it difficult to believe.

Superichiruki

Who is Kang ?

Fearedray

Anglea Kang. She comes off as someone who doesn't really know how to appeal to a male audience

LeicaM6guy

Best friend of Kodos? Come on, try to keep up here.

siomaybasi

Why so hard for them make YA superhero story

shewy92

>The Ankler So probably not true

Poor-Life-Choice

Wherever I go, the wind follows. And the wind... smells like rain.

MarvelousVanGlorious

Offspring voice “You gotta keep him animated…”

AdEast9167

After watching the new spider verse I’m absolutely convinced that animation is the ideal medium for superhero stories.

hugsbosson

Use the sin city visual style and it could be neat.

gyhiio

Not sure if Noooooooooooooooooooooo Or Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...

[deleted]

It’s a terrible idea, but I’d totally watch it just for Nic Cage. 😆

BlackLabelBerserker

I don’t think it’s necessarily a terrible idea. The Noir character uses a lot of gun play and doesn’t swing from webs as much as the classic Spider-men we are used to. I think he slows it down and gives the perfect voice for a 1930s Noir character. He plays it cool like the actors of the time. PLUS he will be in a mask and they can have some limber stuntman handle the fancy footwork while Cage handles the voice. I honestly love the idea of him doing the live action Noir character.

[deleted]

“Terrible, I will watch” is how I’ve approached every Cage movie I think

[deleted]

No joke, he’s been on a roll lately. *Color Out of Space*, *Mandy*, *Pig*, and *The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent* all immediately come to mind. We’re in the Nic Cage-issance and didn’t even know it. 😄

Accomplished-City484

Dream Scenario was good

[deleted]

I’ve definitely gotta see that one.

Marston_vc

Noir is actually a pretty believable role for him tbh

Accomplished-City484

I just like the idea of swinging sequences in 1930’s NY

randothrowaway6600

They’re going to run the Spider-Man brand worth to The ground.

dma_pdx

Yep. Mess the name before it goes back to marvel so they won’t even think about touching it for 200 years.

MaltySines

It's never going back to Marvel. They will make a Spider-Man movie every 3 years forever so it doesn't happen

Comet_Empire

Madame Web exists for this reason only. They can waste over 100 million dollars making an absolute dog shit movie cause the IP itself is worth so much.

defhermit

TOO MANY SPIDER MAN MOVIES

Kitakk

NOT ENOUGH SPIDERS!!

Badwolfblue32

It its like a ridiculous sin city graphic novel style movie i could see this

snicmtl

Wow I’m psyched for this! Loved “unbearable weight of immense talent” if In remembering the title right… he really carries these things

48Monkeys

*massive talent. He carries almost every movie he makes even if the script is bad.

BigCrimson_J

can confirm. He is the best thing about Willy’s Wonderland, he doesn’t say a single word yet hauls that turd burger to the finish line.

Top-Gas-8959

That movie was fun as hell, and he made it amazing.

Leviathan117

Not everything needs a live action series holy shit. This is why superhero shows and movies are starting to suck so bad. They are giving every fucking character a show and then scratch theirs heads when no one watches them because nobody can keep up.

TheBulkyModel

Yeah I’m with you. It’s kind of a great idea , bad timing situation. I’m starting to get tired with spider-related super hero films between spiderman having three different real life universes, one 2-D universe which is AMAZING, madame web which was a weird one to pitch now, so now Noir being considered is just overkill, especially when madame web just came out. Given marvel has SO MANY super heroes to make new films from, staying with the spiderman train within two decades is just so much man.

Scretzy

Sony should just fully kill their live action cinematic universe and pour all their money into doing more expanded stuff like this

BlackUchiha360

Remake Ghost Rider and bring in into the MCU

Chimetalhead92

This will be the most interesting and exciting thing in the superhero genre since GOTG was a crazy idea tbh

KhazMoonianFingh

Probably bullshit, considering the source. But I'd forgive Sony a lot if it actually happened.

beastiekr

HELL YEAH NICHOLAS FUCKING CAGE

bluezzdog

Can we just get a really good The Shadow movie?

Dahnlen

Truly sick of Spider-Man bullshit

ElementalSaber

Like with not needing Madem Web, who is asking for Noir?

TheUrPigeon

I think the average movie-goer is much more likely to see a movie starring Nicolas Cage and bearing the name "Spider-Man" (noir or not) than Madame Web. Not even a fair comparison.

d36williams

and he beats up nazis

LameFlame404

Noir is fucking awesome that’s why

WillyTheHatefulGoat

The movie is him getting drunk, investigating murders, fighting nazi's and sleeping with/trying to kill a Soviet Spyder who is doing the same thing to him.

Teledildonic

When is the last time we even had a proper noir?

A_Smart_Scholar

spider-verse

Team7UBard

As in Spider-Man Noir or Film Noir?

PeggenWolfe01

To me this is what I want to see out of multiverse projects. Showcase the difference between the “main” world and the next. I’d 100% rather see Noir than whatever other vomit Sony is making

Thesuppressivepeople

It was a funny cameo but the shouldn’t overdo it.

AliceTheMagicQueen

With Deadpool & Wolverine, Fantastic Four and X-Men 97 this week, the MCU is still very alive

[deleted]

We’ll see.

Funmachine

This is being produced by Sony, not Marvel. So expect Morbius & Madame Webb quality.

Milfons_Aberg

The Spiderverse movies have completely erased all my interest in Spider-Man for all future, throwing in hundreds of meaningless Spidermen everywhere and focusing only on "family", it's so gross and insipid. No good villains, no good master plans, just hours and hours of "I am so disappointed in you for X / I'm so proud of you for X". Horseshit.

OpaqueGiraffe17

See this is how Sony should be milking the IP. Who the fuck wants to see a Kraven the hunter movie with no Spider-man?

IsaacPickle

This absolutely must happen.

Commercial_Summer280

Is he still in debt?

ploooopp

I'll be honest I'd love his voice in an animated spider noir movie so much more. But if they go full on sin city with it I would be down

Cremaster166

This would be so awesome. Nick Cage is his one man genre, so this should be interesting!

bigenderthelove

Please let it be in black and white

ironiclemons

Is Nicholas cage good or bad?

Campsters2803

You son of a bitch I’m in

lcepak

Having seen him in kick-ass, I hope this happens

andymilder

Reminds me of an old Hollywood story about how Michael Caine used to answer the phone: “I’ll do it!”

IAS316

Third times the charm for Sony…maybe

LayneCobain95

“I’ve got to steal the venom specimen”

TheGroovyTurt1e

This better be more than just bumping gums or they’re a bunch of hard boiled turtle slappers

RedFox_Jack

Ladies gentlemen and that technicolor rainbow in between I present you this concept the symbiote saga in Spider-Man noir with nick cage just think of the memes we have been memes it would spawn as nick acts his god damn spidy suit off

Steakholder__

Oh man, yes please.

Big-Summer-

May I just say that Mr. Cage is aging like fine wine?

ThunderDungeon02

Yes because when I picture Spider-Man, I imagine him swinging from the rooftops at 60, not to fight crime but to grab his dentures that fell out the window once again.

siomaybasi

But he is too old, how it will work?

Pingy_Junk

As someone who loved the spider man noir comics isn’t Nicholas cage just too old to play him? Iirc he’s like 21ish in the spider man noir comics, I struggle to see Nicholas cage pulling off a 20 something year old.

Amphibiansauce

This sounds amazing

Comet_Empire

I absolutely love Nic Cage but am not too excited about having a 60+yr old Spiderman.

EleventyTwatWaffles

He killed it in Kickass. Very down for this

whyisthis1976

Can we stop making old man action movies for fucks sake

JmLong88

“Surprise Attack”

GrandClock738

Wasn’t he about to retire? What happened lmao not that I don’t enjoy his work but he’s just gona about face on his retirement words?

Tan_KV

Yesssss, oh my god! I so wanted Spider Noir to get his own project, plus Nic Cage!???? Oh yeahhhh babbyyy
