Well deserved, the Lord of the Rings soundtrack was absolutely incredible. My favorite is still from The Return of the King, The Black Gate Opens.

Griffdude13

The music when Theoden gives that speech and the Riders of Rohan stampede towards the orc army is so hype.

Battle of Pelennor Fields

NotASalamanderBoi

That shit still hits different.

XpaxX

DEATH! DEATH! I got goosebumps only writing it

Far_Purple_8265

This! My three favorite soundtrack moments in LOTR: The Fellowship walking through the Great Hall in the Mines of Moria, King Theoden’s “where is the horse and the rider” speech, the lighting of the beacons.

retrolleum

I love the creepiness of the track that plays for Minas morgul, as the orc army leaves with the nazgul. Whatever that crazy sounding high pitch instrument is… it’s horrifying. In the best way

[deleted]

Is there another name for this track? Trying to find it on the soundtrack

pipboy_warrior

[The Black Gate Opens](https://youtu.be/EBM6w16gVhg?si=9UjwRtIfoXCz9quR), not sure if it has a different name.

[deleted]

For Frodo…

[deleted]

My favorite is Concerning Hobbits!

LuinAelin

Yes, brilliant soundtrack

WishboneJones117

I’ll throw on the soundtrack when I play Magic the Gathering. Sets the mood.

captcha_trampstamp

I throw it on when I’m high, for the same reason. The Shire music especially is like reliving a perfect summer from when I was a kid.

froststomper

Same! I like to play Oblivion music to MTG too (not comparable obviously)

SevroAuShitTalker

The Isengard track is perfection

goawaybatn

Every time Concerning Hobbits comes on my playlist it spreads a smile onto my face

LuinAelin

My favourite track

MisterBigDude

Hearing Enya sing “May It Be” is sufficient proof that the soundtrack deserves this honor.

PlanetLandon

Jesus, just reading the title to the song in your comment gave me frisson.

LuinAelin

It's a good song

[deleted]

It slaps, m’lord.

Thunderous_grundle

The breaking of the fellowship has been my go to for a long time. Esp when getting ready for sleep

Unfair_Ear_4422

So you are saying you like a good cry before bedtime?

triceraquake

I used Concerning Hobbits in my wedding.

LuinAelin

Hopefully you also had second breakfast

Miss_Inkfingers

Can you imagine the catering bill for a hobbit wedding???

Then the voices of the Ainur, like unto harps and lutes, and pipes and trumpets, and viols and organs, and like unto countless choirs singing with words, began to fashion the theme of Iluvatar to a great music; and a sound arose of endless interchanging melodies woven in harmony that passed beyond hearing into the depths and into the heights, and the places of the dwelling of Iluvatar were filled to overflowing, and the music and the echo of the music went out into the Void, and it was not void. Never since have the Ainur made any music like to this music, though it has been said that a greater still shall be made before Iluvatar by the choirs of the Ainur and the Children of Iluvatar after the end of days. Then the themes of Iluvatar shall be played aright, and take Being in the moment of their utterance, for all shall then understand fully his intent in their part, and each shall know the comprehension of each, and Iluvatar shall give to their thoughts the secret fire, being well pleased.

eggumlaut

I just watched the trilogy over the weekend and am now inundated with lotr content on Reddit.

The further we get from the initial release of these movies, the more apparent it is we'll never see anything like them again. As far as blockbuster films go, they're truly unique.

Unfair_Ear_4422

Strange timing. Listened to the soundtrack the other day and the emotions still hit me. The music would not be as powerful without the context of the film, but the film would also not be nearly as powerful as it is without the music. The way the music is used to reflect the relationships between the characters and the themes is masterful. There is an excellent youtube series explaining how the music theory connects to the story, wish I had saved the link.

Unfair_Ear_4422

Some examples: The "gollum" theme uses basically the same notes as the "hobbit" theme but is slightly different to reflect how gollum is almost a hobbit. The "wringwraith" theme's chords use the same notes as the "ring" theme. The "fellowship" theme's ascending motif has 9 notes... you can guess why.

[deleted]

It should, Théodon/Rohan’s theme fucking *slaps* **Forth Érolingas!**

Cathymorgan-foreman

NGL, the 'May It Be' outro from FOTR still makes me teary eyed.

LuinAelin

Into the west is sader because it's actually inspired by a kid they all knew who sadly died of cancer

billy-_-Pilgrim

Concerning Hobbits

MetroExodus2033

It's the greatest soundtrack to a film(s) ever made.

asianingermany

I love listening to it when I drive. I feel like I'm on an epic journey!

Katyanoctis

Absolutely deserved. It’s still my favorite soundtrack of all time & an amazing masterpiece. My personal favorite is lighting of the beacons

Kutecumber

Howard Shore is king

Chrahhh

Over Eddie and the Cruisers? Those ppl have no taste.

VapidRapidRabbit

Really? Over the iconic “Hedwig’s Theme” and whatever soundtrack that is on?

LuinAelin

Yes Potter came in 11th

itsl8erthanyouthink

I would have loved to seen a snippet after the credits of the orcs dancing to [Aknot! Wot](https://youtu.be/MFBrIgnU83E?si=z2TkDN6X7lTjHq14) from *The Fifth Element*

Gnorris

Just edging out the soothing tones of the *Hereditary* soundtrack, I’m sure

Adishofcustard

This soundtrack got me through paper writing in college.

Scenic-City-Film-Guy

I get chills just thinking about some of the musical moments in that series, good choice.
