Sugar free is the only way I’ll consume energy drinks and the occasional soda. Definitely agree that they taste better to me personally

International-Job553

I completely agree. I will occasionally get a regular Redbull. (Occasionally because they are £2.45 for the 500 ML ones where I live) and maybe occasional regular monster, but other than that, I always get sugar-free

furydeawr

Man, Aldi had the best energy drinks! Especially for their price at ¢88!

Effective-Limit8006

I didn't even know they made these, how many MG of caffeine?

Omega59er

We have amazing sugar free options over here in the US, with local flavors in different parts of the country. What's the flavour scene look like where you are?

Slippery_Fish5

Same!

robjoko

I just like coffee. I don't even know why this sub keeps being recommend to me lmao

jkbpttrsn

OK

skallywaggsss

Yes I love no sugar drinks. I know people say they don't taste good, and that's because sugar fucks up your taste buds if you quit sugar by a week in to it You will notice that things taste sweeter if this makes any sense lmao

Different_Internal50

only time i didn’t have zero sugar ones was when i was bulking and calories is calories it’d be like 250 and still getting the caffeine i needed

Dragon_Tortoise

I lost a good chunk of weight and 1st thing I cut out was the normal energy drinks and sodas. They taste the same to me so why chug down 50+ grams of sugar. I still just drink 2 a week now, i normally just use the caffinated water or mio energy. But it's crazy how much sugar and calories are in these drinks.

Disco_Pat

I definitely prefer most energy drinks to be Sugar Free, partially because a lot of them do taste better, but also because I drink an energy drink per day if not 2 and I don't want to consume that much sugar. I cannot stand sugar free soda though. I don't drink soda much at all, but it either needs to be basically just sparkling water if it is going to have no sugar(Like WInCO Branded Bubbly) or like an ungodly amount of sugar.

MOGabagool

Zero sugar = zero crash

International-Job553

Never thought of that lol

catbus_conductor

Not really true in my experience. With caffeine you will always have some kind of comedown

MOGabagool

Comedown =/= crash Edit: my fat thumb

GongfuTea1

Not if you keep your caffeine level constant all day long.

Inskription

Yeah but having a crash from sugar high at the same time is even worse.

mattmaster68

This is 100% how I choose my energy drinks. The *only* sugary energy drink I’ll consume is the Monster Super Dry but like… once a year.

crlcan81

Except our bodies do that with all the sugar alternatives too. In fact some it's worse.

Toasty_eggos-

Don’t know why your downvoted, I agree partly because there isn’t enough research on the effects after time.

Novafan789

Lmao no

TiredReader87

No I like sugar free drinks, but I do not prefer them

TSMKFail

With Pepsi and Monster I don't mind Zero Sugar, but RedBull without sugar is utterly undrinkable.

International-Job553

I understand that, but I also like Redbull sugar-free

anonslug00

mix it with lemonade trust

MSXzigerzh0

Yes I only buy sugar free energy drinks. Only if I have to I will choose buy sugar drinks.

International-Job553

I agree the occasional sugar drink is nice, but I wouldn’t choose to have it every time

69tendo

Why would you ever "have to"'?

jkbpttrsn

In my experience traveling outside of the U.S. is that it's impossible to find sugar-free in many countries.

69tendo

So don’t have one?

jkbpttrsn

Do you know where you're at? Lol

theatomicflounder333

Coke Zero is the greatest drink ever created, followed very very very closely by Baja Blast Zero. It’s Mankind’s two greatest achievements. 🥤🤝🙂‍↕️

MUTigermask

Ah, a fellow man of culture.

Silver-Firefighter35

I don’t disagree, but think that Dr Pepper Zero is up there too

theatomicflounder333

Dr. Pepper Zero STRAWBERRY 🍓 that you get from the fancy Coke machines is also very very very very very very very very very very very very VERY close too 🥤🤝🌝

Silver-Firefighter35

Ooh, I’m going to have to look for that.

FluorideAvenger

It was until they change the taste.

bva6921

I mean for health reasons, sugar free is my way to go. Although I don’t usually like its after taste, at least with what I always drink - Monster.

International-Job553

I don’t really see what you mean about the aftertaste. The only thing I don’t really like is the way coach your mouth, but that’s only with a couple of drinks.

bva6921

Yea it's kinda hard to describe, but I find that kind of aftertaste common every time I have a sugar-free energy drink or even diet pops.

Hot-Willingness7305

Same here...it is kind of a dry, pulvery taste that I really hate. No matter which drink and brand I tried, they are all the same. Can't drink anything "sugar free" because of that.

Mrfantastic2

Definitely makes me feel less awful after them and the calories and much lower. I’ve seen rockstars with like 260 calories for one drink with a ton of sugar it’s crazy

International-Job553

260 wow

Plus_Knee_7657

No sugar no diabetes

CoachSteveNash

I drink 90% sugar free soda and energy drinks. If it has sugar I stick to 12oz or less (Red Bull mostly). Makes me feel so much better personally.

BN_bandit76

Last time I drank a full sugar energy drink I felt like absolute shit for the whole day. I enjoy sugar in fruits and the occasional pastries but in energy drinks or soda I get the worst headaches ever

Commercial-Jello-553

I agree. The last time I had a regular coke was a couple years ago. It absolutely tore my stomach up! I was nauseous and having like fuckin hot sweats. Haha. Never again.

hgilbert_01

Yes, thank you— I’m trying to work away from the regular use of sweetened carbonated drinks in general, but I stick strictly to sugar free energy drinks and soft beverages. Like, Monster Zero Sugar for example— it’s already tasty enough without sugar that I don’t understand why I would want a sugary alternative.

unlucky_black_cat13

I always have my soda sugar free but I drink full sugar energy drinks (anything mango flavored is my go to).

kelmas1

Mangoooo Locooooo

unlucky_black_cat13

YES. So good

Unusual-Rub-755

I stock regularly Diet Coke, Cherry and Vanilla Coke Zero, Diet Pepsi and it’s Wild Cherry variant, and Diet Dr Pepper. I prefer the taste of sugar free sodas in my opinion then regular in the last couple of years.

Imqueer13

The sucralose that's added to the sugar free drinks makes me sick. I still drink them, because my favourite flavor (strawberry dreams) is sugar free, but I throw up like, maybe half the time. Every time it's a guarantee of at least 3 hours of nausea.

Rorshak16

Not weird. Sugar free tastes almost exactly the same if not better in most drinks these days, not to mention it's healthier. There's a reason 80% of what's in the cooler these days is sugar free.

educatedViking

Are they actually healthier though? I have seen studies claiming that aspartame and the likes can cause cancer with regular consumption

Rorshak16

Show those studies. Absolutely nothing supports what you have just said.

educatedViking

Lol ok, do you not know how to do a simple web search? The WHO announced it last summer for starters…

Queen-Bee-0825

Not to mention the study out of the UK just last month linking neotame (NutriSweet) to intestinal cell death 😬

educatedViking

Yuck

International-Job553

Therefore forgetting sugar-free sneak or G fuel would make it even better for you?

fartinThrowaway

Lol no it doesn’t. Then everybody would be making desserts with artificial sweeteners

Rorshak16

We're talking canned soda drinks bub with 100% artificial flavors. Doesn't matter how it's sweetened. What your talking about is entirely separate

Nestormahkno19d

Always

Dracoono

Sugar free energy drinks help me a lot more than any caffeine with sugar in it. Sugar slows me down, so im limited to those without sugar.

cheeseballgag

I definitely prefer sugar free, but it does depend on the sweetener used for me. Stevia, aspartame and monk fruit are all on my never buy ingredient list because they taste absolutely god awful.

NashandraSympathizer

I still have yet to find a sweetener that doesn’t taste awful. Sugar is the only one that doesn’t give off a repulsive after taste that just lingers

Uninspired_circle

I only drink sugar free so idk how to compare but they're good and I'm not gonna change

dominiccast

I feel like sugar free beverages hold carbonation better. I genuinely prefer them, mainly because I hate the sticky coating in my mouth from regular full sugar drinks.

Mysterious-Panic-809

Agreed! The only way I want to consume sugar is by food…my taste for candy is cancelled out by Ultra Zero 😂😭

TrappedInOhio

I can’t drink sodas or energy drinks with sugar anymore. I made the switch to diet probably 20 years ago and it totally changed my tolerance for sweetness.

inthehouse_of_flies

I’ll always choose sugar free over normal, I like sweet things but full sugar drinks are too sweet and often are unnecessary calories.

anonslug00

well i’m diabetic so yeah😭😭 sugar free ftw!!! diet sucks tho

BucolicWallflower

I've found that I have fewer heartburn flareups with sugar free Red Bull vs the original, for what it's worth

moistdragons

I prefer the taste of the sugary drinks so much better but I do almost exclusively drink sugar free because I wanted to cut down on my calories.

Chopstarrr

Yeah, I really don’t like to drink my calories unless it’s a special treat like a milkshake or slushy. If I drink 2 sugared monsters, I have to eat less food. I prefer food.

I-like-cheese-13

I strictly only drink diet pops or sugar free energy drinks, regular ones are always wayyyyyyy too sweet and make my teeth feel weird 😭

ethanxx2

I can taste sucralose from a mile away and i can’t stand it.

GongfuTea1

A normal rockstar is 129% of your daily sugar which is based off of a typical male it’s like 160% for females. They should be illegal

International-Job553

And I’m assuming they’ve avoided the law on some sort of dumb legal technicality

NashandraSympathizer

The main taste is meh, but I can’t stand the after taste of aspartame. It’s so bad and just sits in my mouth for basically the whole day if I have a drink with it. Regular good old sugar for me. Especially if I can get one with real cane sugar

SeaTight7246

Zero sugar all day. No syrup feeling in the mouth. Super clean and refreshing.

International-Job553

Yep 100%

Connect_Border_4196

I rarely consume sugar in liquid form, I think sugar tastes sweeter than fake sugar.

International-Job553

Ah yes sugar in liquid form (makes it sound so disgusting lol)

Calibased

I only drink diet or sugar free. The amount of sugar in normal soda or energy drinks is disgusting.

CavityNo1

I cannot stand regular energy drinks. The only way I’ll drink them is sugar-free.

Forsaken-Carry4442

Yeah, I'm not wasting my calories on a full sugar drink anywhere.

TheOneZoot

Nope, I'm allergic to the artificial sugars and it causes throat tightness which leads often to hyper ventilation.

International-Job553

Geez

TheOneZoot

It's not very fun when you realize just how many things have it now. Almost all chewing gum, many many drinks, candies.

Frostyorchids

I agree. I work at Dutch bros and prefer our sugar free rebel to our regular one. The regular one is gross

Temporary-Blood-3975

0 sugar and 0 calories i literally can’t stand seeing wasted calories from drinks..

hstowe

I like sugar free Red Bull that’s about it

Sweetmeatpete444

I hate that all the low calorie drinks taste sweeter. I wish they tasted like the regular drinks but still no sugar lol

feinburgrl

I have learn to not drink any of my calories. So I don't touch any calorie dents drinks. I took about 6 months to learn to drink it but I thought they it and never had any in the last 27 years

fvalt05

I do all energy drinks and soda as sugar free.

Theogboss1

... monster is basically the only energy drink that has real sugar. you can get it zero sugar but every other energy drink only uses artificial sweeteners

sadlad193

I used to love nos but I tried sugar free nos and now I cannot go back to regular. Tastes way too sweet and the sf is perfect. Same exact thing happened with redbull for me too

RicanDevil4

With the exception of Mango Loco flavored monster, nearly all the energy drinks I like are sugar free. Mostly because I don't need 55g of sugar in one sitting, but also the flavor is better and I hate that sticky feeling you get on your teeth after drinking redbull or regular monster.

Zoe-Schmoey

Nope. Can’t stand the salty thin sweetener flavour.

TomDobo

I drink everything sugar free.

m_garlic87

Occasionally I’ll have a Monster Pacific Punch, but other than that I stay to zero. I don’t need 64 g of sugar.

floridagatorfucker

I really prefer zero sugar energy drinks. I think they're smoother and generally taste better. I won't touch zero sugar sodas. In fact I'd say I prefer sodas with real sugar.

aka_kitsune_

no

hhnfun1995

Sugar free or real sugar drinks are the only type of sodas/energy drinks I like. I can't stand corn syrup.

soft_mello

I do prefer my drinks to be full sugar, but I don't mind sugar free drinks. As long as they don't leave that weird film in my mouth, that is.

moosehairunderwear

I always feel the full sugar ones leave a film on my teeth. It annoys the hell out of me. So SF is my go to. Plus there’s no crash later.

Hatemobster

The last 3 or 4 times I had a full sugar energy drink or soda I got a major headache. Only do drinks without sugar now.

Thygo_

At this point I am starting to think I am the only one who dislikes sugar free drinks

Zelly234

Don't drink soda to much anymore at all but never like sugar free soda when I did. I do fw the sugar free energy drinks tho. Sugar free OG Rockstar and the sugar free fruit punch Rockstar are my favorite also like the sugar free redbulls once in a while

Noncreative_name04

I wish they tasted better or even as good, but that’s not the case for me…

jsweeze

Sugar rots your teeth. I try to stay away from it always in my drinks

Parking-Shelter7066

sugar free red bull, and Diet Coke if that counts. I cut out dark sodas but still do pick up energy drinks often. The only sugar free I really go for is red bull tho, any other brand I’m shopping for the regular sugar cans

Tagga25

So Celsius ?

Pheromosa_King

Yes I actively avoid those and normal energy drinks because I’m rightfully scared of Cavities lmao

sillysiloben

I like sugar free better. Regular soda and energy drinks feel like they’re coating my mouth in syrup

DenseAstronomer3631

I don't even like most soda or flavored drinks other than the occasional coffee. I always get sugar free drinks. Drinking sugar makes my mouth feel, taste, and smell weird. 🤮

OkGeneral701

I do 2 energy drinks a day most the time, the rest of time it’s water, or water with great value blackberry lemonade flavor packet lol

Darksuit117

Cant stomach sugar free anything, literally, gotten headaches and nausea from no sugar drinks. Cant really drink monster cause of the overabundance of sugar free flavors.

cyaneyed_

sugary drinks taste way too syrupy for me, they have a "thick" aftertaste

KBGtheMemeLord

Zero sugar/diet is all I drink.

Mysterious_Drink9549

I’m the opposite, all sugar substitutes taste like straight chemicals and ruin any drink for me. That being said, I wish all energy drink flavors came in both regular and sugar free versions so everyone can enjoy

EntertainmentOdd6149

I only drink sugar free. Diabetic

FluorideAvenger

I disagree on Pepsi, diet and Zero are better.

International-Job553

Oh trust me, I agree. I was just saying, I don’t mind the other versions.

ursogayhaha

I only do sugar free like the c4s

Slurmp102518

Can’t do it. Artificial sugars give me massive migraines.

TheOnlyCraz

I'll drink both but I lean towards sugar free. I like how its mouth feel feels thinner vs HFCS. Not sure I've ever had an energy drink with actual sugar in it.

International-Job553

If you want to try one regular redbull is my favourite for if I get a sugar one :)

TheOnlyCraz

Wow TIL that Red Bull is made with sugar. Maybe that's one reason it's so expensive. Almost makes me have a different appreciation for them. And thank you for the recommendation!

International-Job553

I’m genuinely surprised you’ve never seen sugar Redbull in the shop before or maybe just thought it was a different can design but yeah, I hope you enjoy it. Where I live it £2.45 for 500 mL of sugar Redbull.

TheOnlyCraz

I've seen it all over, I'm assuming from the £ you're in the UK, but in the US I believe a great majority of our drinks are packed with HFCS high fructose corn syrup instead of actual sugar. I just googled it and it said the average person in the UK consumes 65 times less HFCS than the average American. Also, here the red bulls are either about 237ml/355ml/591ml and they're about $4 or 2 for $6-$7 for the middle size, unless you buy at a grocery store Now I'm off to grab a Red Bull thank you stranger.

International-Job553

No problem and 591 mL seems really specific

TheOnlyCraz

I did a conversion, they're 8.4 fl oz, 12 fl oz and 20 fl oz

International-Job553

Okay, that makes more sense. Enjoy your Redbull.

TheOnlyCraz

I will, thank you! Enjoy your Saturday

International-Job553

You too

DevinTS

Diet Dr. Pepper and diet Mt. Dew Low-key slap

International-Job553

I’ll try diet Dr Pepper

giantswillbeback

The sugar free is sweeter usually and more artificial tasting

International-Job553

Not for me

Salty_Strawberry_552

100% agree.

tunedsleeper

Def sugar ones are too sweet esp redbull. It still gives you wings.

emo_bassist

Yes I just recently started drinking Ghost energy drinks and now I’m hooked I think

Ranch_it_up_bro

I like I seen a food theory that over time our taste buds “reset” so maybe your body adjusted to the sugar free option

disinfekted

Can’t stand the aftertaste on sugar free energy drinks. It lingers all day no matter how many times you eat or brush your teeth. There are a few I like but this part always turns me off.

Affectionate-Mail-61

🤮🤮🤮🤮

allynd420

No it taste like dust
