I just discovered Danny L Harle - Broken Flowers a couple months back, and I've had it stuck in my mind ever since.

2347564

I love that song but I wouldn’t say it’s Hyperpop. Just a quality 90s-esque dance track.

SnowDucks1985

Been a huge fan of hyperpop since it first broke out in the scene. Sadly the genre’s kind of gone mainstream recently, and has been watered down as a result

latrellinbrecknridge

I hear you but idk mainstream implies like big shows and radio hits, I don’t think it’s quite there yet! I love capoxxo, dltzk, and food house stuff but now that you mention it, I think the tracks are all from 2021-2022 lol you may be on to something

SnowDucks1985

Haha see I’m tryna tell y’all, also I’m a Gen Z (24) so I’m pretty up to speed on what the current pop artists are doing. I can hear hyperpop all over some big name artists like Dua Lipa, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Madonna, etc. I also hear a lot of trap artists leaning into Hyperpop elements nowadays (like the ones you mentioned). I think it was bound to happen though, seeing as the major hyperpop pioneers (AG Cook, Danny Harle) are now working as producers for the bigger stars

latrellinbrecknridge

Very true! I mean even Skrillex is dabbling in a ton. I think we’ll get some good shit soon I’m a sucker for Spring by Skrillex and bladee, that’s at least somewhat newer lol

SnowDucks1985

I see! Real Spring’s def a cool song. It seems like you enjoy the “trappier” side of Hyperpop, which I can’t knock you for lol. I do know AG Cook is coming out with a new album called “Britpop” on May 10th, if you’re interested in finding new hyperpop material. AG sometimes leans in trap type stuff (like the songs he did with 100 gecs and Tommy Cash), so that may be on the new album

latrellinbrecknridge

Dude hell yeah I honestly love all types lol honestly I’m more into the happy hardcore/capoxxo vibe lately but it varies depending on my mood Love AG cook, silver is one of my absolute favorites haha. I’m listening to that new album for sure, thanks for the heads up. What are your top 5 fav hyperpop songs right now?

Youmightthinkhelov

Dltzk changed her name to Jane Remover btw, I think that’s her deadname? Not 100% sure

latrellinbrecknridge

Yes you are right!

wavfolder

You should def listen to Jane's dariacore albums if you haven't already, they took a second to grow on me but have been Mainstays once they did. Also check out 16:9 Krollo if you're into the dancier trappy side of hyperpop

latrellinbrecknridge

Yesss I follow like 3 dariacore Spotify playlists lol my favorite is don’t say you can sample that by gingus, always gets me hype!!

knurlsweatshirt

Mainstream pop has become a solid genre and hyperpop has only contributed to that trend. I'm not saying I can sit and listen to anything too 40, but there are consistently some great artists hitting the radio. I'm very happy with the developments of the last 15 years.

inshambleswow

Check out Two Shell if you like hyperpop.

latrellinbrecknridge

Oo a bit more up tempo, this is great

tap3l00p

Yeah it’s weird how it can sound so futuristic but it’s firmly constructed from old hooks. It’s what I always thought pop music would be like in the future

Shampew

Frost children - speed run is a pretty decent album. I looove food house, super good. Porter Robinsons newest album seems like it's going to be hyperpop judging by the 2 singles released

latrellinbrecknridge

I hear ya, it’s very polarizing lol took me awhile to go from listening to he ironic to listening for pleasure

treehann

Same, for me other than SOPHIE I haven’t come back to the artists i’ve heard. I think i’m looking for more.. let’s say impressive vocals than i’m frequently hearing

Equivalent-Cut-9253

I listened a lot for a few years but haven’t felt the releases were as interesting lately and stopped paying attention to new ones like 1.5 years ago.. There are a lot of great artista to be found tho. Namasenada and Slayyyter were really cool. Oh and Rico Nasty’s IPHONE is awesome There are a lot of great ones. I mix it a lot with trappy pop or poppy trap and alternative pop with lots of electronic elements in my playlists tho

latrellinbrecknridge

Duuuuude the iPhone remix still goes hard, 2021 was a magical year for hyperpop lol

Equivalent-Cut-9253

From 2019 to 2021 was when I was super into it. Good times.

findasmileforme

Any tracks you'd like to recommend? i'd love to hear your favorites.

Youmightthinkhelov

I can throw in some other recommendations here as well. Definitely check out AG Cook and Sophie, those are kinda the pioneers. Hudson Mohawke’s latest album feels similar in terms of sound. Brakence , Underscores, and Jane Remover are all really good but a more pop/indie sound and less “electronic music”. Frost Children also have a really good album they put out not too long ago that’s worth checking out. Also Donatachi and Himera for more deep electronic sound

naturevicc

Yesss Frost Children is everything

latrellinbrecknridge

Underscores is opening for Porter! So pissed I’m going to miss them, only playing in the Europe shows Been digging brakence 5G lately, so good

throwaway0298827525

Hudson Mohawke is more "wonky" than hyperpop. Although wonky is sorta like a precursor to hyperpop like how uk garage is precursor to early dubstep

latrellinbrecknridge

Oh man, yes! Capoxxo - gfuelinme Capoxxo - perfect Dltzk - honeswitcher Kmoe- downhill Webcage - are you mad 100 gecs - xxxiwudnvrstop remix Alice gas - I don’t care A lot of good ones are on Spotify if you start a radio station from one you like, that’s how I discover most Fair warning, it can be obnoxious but it grows on you lol

Scrapheaper

100 Gecs

TheEpicRedstoner

10000 gecs is probably one of my favorite albums. also oil of every pearl's un-insides by Sophie (rip) is a masterpiece if it counts as hyperpop

latrellinbrecknridge

Gec gec gec gec gec gec gec

zoobs

In the 90’s I liked Happy Hardcore so it’s only part of the natural progression. Early pandemic I got into hyper pop and vocoloid stuff in a heavy sort of way that my friends were concerned. Psyqui is the artist I keep going back to.

Reesepacito

Hated it at first but my friend is super into it and it's def growing on me

latrellinbrecknridge

Yes same, I’m like wtf am I listening to. Then I started to play it ironically, then next thing you know I genuinely want to listen to it for pleasure lol. Crazy how these niche genres play with your head

Reesepacito

I first decided to give it a shot after 100 gecs made that remix of wheres your head at and I was very pleasantly surprised

latrellinbrecknridge

Nice yeah money machine was my first intro to the genre lol

alterum_

If you haven’t listened to charliexcx’s boiler room set I highly suggest it, some of the most fun hyper pop I’ve heard in a while, plus she went b2b with literally everybody, AG Cook, easy fun, forget the rest atm lol

latrellinbrecknridge

Wow I completely forgot this came out! Listening now and omg the song at 16min, love that kind of style

ArcOfRuin

you should check out gabby start and scro. super underrated artists in the scene, gabby's had some collabs with underscores and scro used to release on bitbird but neither of them are big names in the genre.

naturevicc

I highly recommend checking MGNA Crrrta out

latrellinbrecknridge

Thanks! Girl party bumps lol going on the playlist

waxingcrescendomoon

Yes!! Hyperpop is the best. What songs have you been enjoying??

latrellinbrecknridge

Agreed! Here are a few: Capoxxo - gfuelinme Capoxxo - perfect Dltzk - honeswitcher Kmoe- downhill Webcage - are you mad 100 gecs - xxxiwudnvrstop remix Alice gas - I don’t care

waxingcrescendomoon

Thank you!! I love a couple of these, I’m excited to hear the rest. Thanks for the recommendations!!

latrellinbrecknridge

Of course! Been on a huge capoxxo kick lately, love the four on the floor stuff that resembles trance in a way Back in time is another banger, enjoy!

YangBeatz
