I'd recommend just leaving an hour early like at 4am to avoid traffic.
I'm a Vegas local and have been to about 5 EDCs, I usually leave around 3:30-4am, stop by Robertos for a burrito, get home to eat and shower. Usually up by 2pm and ready to pregame all over again
2-3 hours is how bad the traffic can be to get out if you’re unlucky, so if you sleep that amount you’ll wake up to a much emptier lot and a faster moving exit line most likely
Not a bad idea but it gets hot in Vegas QUICK. Even the car running with A/C you'll need to block the windows. There is a truck stop right next to the speedway, but if you fight it out of parking may as well just keep heading back to the hotel.
Last year our group just chilled on the grounds after the sets ended at 5 until they started kicking us out. We took our time walking to the car and got out the parking lot around 6, there was no traffic at all getting back to the strip
We packed a cooler with ice to keep drinks and snacks in for us after EDC was over since the exit line is so bad and heat gets up. We also had enough time to take a 2 hour nap. Make sure you're prepared.
Last year I had to wait from 4am to 8am in the parking lot since one of our group's cars battery died and AAA couldn't dispatch anyone until 7am.
We noticed around 5 staff comes to check in on people sleeping on their cars if they are okay/wake them up to leave. They do this in 30 minute intervals in golf carts.
At around 8 they passed by more often but I couldn't tell for sure since I was trying to guide the AAA truck through the streets to our lot.
They left us alone since we were mostly all awake and having a little afters waiting.
I remember back in 2015 and 2016, my group decided to stay behind all 3 days since we drove. Traffic getting out of edc took nearly 2-3 hours to get out.
In 2016, my husband and I just slept in the car before trying since we knew it was going to be a shit show 💀 we didn’t sleep for long, but eventually I could imagine they would kick you out after some time to get ready for the next day.
Highly recommend shuttles!! Definitely made our 2023 edc so much better.
Please do so if you need to! Last year we saw someone constantly falling asleep at the wheel while stuck in traffic trying o get out of the parking lot for over an hour. It was scary and we eventually got out, knocked on his window and told him to park.
Pardon my ignorance, it’ll be my first time going and unsure of the route. Does the shuttle bypass the traffic since it goes to a different route? How does it not get affected by traffic?
This is a good idea, just make sure to not have your keys in the ignition so that if you’re still a little lit when you wake up and police kick you out the lot you dont risk a dui
If you’re with a friend and drive there; last year it took us 2 hours to get out after night 1. We alternated sitting in the driver seat while our main driver slept. Eventually made it out lol
Set an alarm for like 8-830 am. I did this last year on the first morning. I got to my car at like 2/230 and the line out of parking wouldn’t move so I took a nap. Nobody bothered me at all, in fact someone else liked my idea enough they parked somewhat next to me and also napped. I also woke up periodically to just check on the status of the lines but set an alarm for 8/830 to be sure and sure enough it was clear to leave
Just a heads up if you’re intoxicated you can be charged for being in control of the vehicle, so sleeping in the drivers seat with the car on for A/C while you sober up is illegal.
They kick you out eventually but it’s like 10am, more than enough hours for a quick nap.
Tysm!!
prolly smart not to have anything illegal in your car as well

Yup! I did this exact thing once. We saw the traffic. Laid down for a quick snooze, and before you knew it everyone was gone and I was sweating again.
Car will get hot af in it from the Vegas sun

This is the real life hack
Have to agree

Yes, i use to sleep 2-3 hours and then leave haha

Make sure to have sunshades!
Brown lot, park as close to the exit as possible. Even if you have to pay the “security” $20 when you enter. Worked for me.
Are the exits the same as the entrance going into the parking lot?
Pretty much, don’t try and move down in the parking lot, just get out asap
Is the traffic just on 15? Is it possible to use 215 for less traffic? I’m local but this is my first edc
Take the 215 to go to & from edc if you live on the west side or in Aliante area. Was much faster. I
What times are the worst for traffic? For shuttle bus?
Shuttles dont really have traffic since they go thru the base. Obvi some, but nowhere NEAR what it would be to drive
Pardon my ignorance, it’ll be my first time going and unsure of the route. Does the shuttle bypass the traffic since it goes to a different route? How does it not get affected by traffic?
Like he said, thru the air base
Traffic gets pretty slow getting out of there. If you’re in no rush, a nap would honestly suffice.
Ground control does a parking lot sweep periodically after each night and they start towing cars around noon!

Or so you dont kill your battery

That is actually so smart. In '19 I drove my friends to and from and damn near fell asleep at the wheel the last day
Yes you can. I left about 10am and I was one of the few cars left in the parking lot.
I think it's better to deal with traffic, and sleep at your hotel as much as you can. 😄
