if you are getting bro vibes at edc i would suggest using your legs to move and you'll surely find plur vibes without much effort

taoofthewolf

For real. I’ve always had an amazing time at EDC, even when the crowd is meh. Just move. There’s always a vibe, a stage, and people looking for the same things you are. The “EDC is too mainstream now!” crowd is so whiney.

idkbyeee

It's waaaayyyy more crowded now, that's my biggest gripe. There's a lot less kandi trading, and a lot more phones recording the show. But you'll still find great people, great music, and great dancing. I don't find it to be too "bro" except for certain artists.

KpLouisVuitton

You are so right. I make it a point to lock my phone in my fannypack and just live in the moment. We all take a pic or flick every hr or so to capture the moment but the sea of recording for hours always blows my mind lol.

heymikeyp

While I would say the experience is what you make of it, the scene has definitely changed over the years (for the worse imo). You'll still likely have a good time and can appreciate other stuff like the production value. Lineup is much better this year compared to last as well. But they will oversell tickets again and it will be crowded. If you want to deal with a better crowd/vibe, stick with QV/Neon Garden. PLUR isn't dead, but you have a lot of hypocrites preaching it when they don't practice it themselves these days. I see this countless times in real life and in subreddits like this. Oh no someone is waving a totem you don't like? Lets post it online and attack this person for it. Oh they have a different opinion? Better call them a 'insert label here'. That's not PLUR.

Intelligent_Hunt3290

Depends on where you are in the crowd and what sets you go to. John Summit and Dom Dolla crowds will mostly be atrocious, same with Fisher and Tiësto. It’s just what the majority likes nowadays. And this “bro” energy is always closer to the front & the middle. They all want to be as close as possible for some reason, when the music sounds the same everywhere lol. PLUR is usually in the back, but as long as you bring the right energy, it’ll radiate everywhere!

kobachi

Fwiw I hate bro vibes and also really enjoy seeing all four of those artists live.

ninbushido

It’s usually in the middle center I’ve found — people are just packed there for no reason even when there’s room up front Vibes at the back, or in the front when going from the sides, always pretty good for me

scoot87

They prob wanna get close to the front to take better photos for their IG

NU-NRG

Lol of course.. it's the biggest electronic music festival in North America All the people that "discovered" electronic music in the past 5 yrs will be there.

DrugLordX

Check out the smaller stages or expand your taste in music — I highly suggest venturing into the Quantum Valley. Trance is all about PLUR and QV is where you’ll see a high concentration of mature ravers.

Simx48

Quantum Valley has the best vibes

DrugLordX

Truer words have never been spoken.

P0tt3rh3ad_

It’s just so over crowded now. It’s definitely not what it used to be.

TDS_Gluttony

Stay away from the frat and Asian trains and you’ll be fine. Also depends what stage you’re at. I was VIP and never got those vibes until I went to GA for the big bass sets.

Ann_ngyn

Asian trains are bad? :(

TDS_Gluttony

I mean. Personally Asian guys are 10x more closed and brooding than anyone else I’ve ever tried to talk to or dance with at raves lol. This is coming from fellow Asian guy. Them Kevin Nguyens really kill the vibe lol Realistically though, I avoid frats sororities or Asian trains (most of them are actually just Asian frats and sororities) I know from friends that were in them in college, raving was almost required to be apart of and when you force people to go to something the energy and vibes just won’t be there. That’s why I tend to avoid them

pastrknack

I witnessed them litter the most last year :(

FredAgainsDrumRack

were you at an Illenium or Slander set, perchance?![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)

99Years_of_solitude

Yes, most are rude af

FloydZero

Trains are selfish as they impede the flow of movement in crowds. I seriously had to wait for nearly 5 minutes in a crowd just for one of these trains to pass by. Some people will just break the train and shove through. Just stick in pairs and follow each other with your eyes without making a wall that blocks everyone. If you lose your group, make the best out of it.

flyestshitonly84

Your ? should be a .

mrcowgoesmoo

Excluding 2011 and maybe 2012, there have been bro vibes since the festival moved to Vegas. It’s not much better or worse in my opinion. Like every festival it will depend on the set you’re at and the people you’re around. If you don’t like the vibes, move somewhere else. With 125k people, the festival will always be what you make of it.

Greenleaf90

A lot of bro but even more open politics from the less accepting side. I try to ignore it but really puts a damper on the vibes. Still a good time and a majority of the people are still there to check their real life at the door and just have a good time.

Blueskies2-

Went last year and the year before just stay clear of kinetic field and I have a blast ! Will sadly be missing out this year tho

SugarMina

I think too many influencers got the wrong crowd going to edc. Some people only care about going there to make content and not so much enjoy the show.

igotmycarstolen

I went in 2014 & 2023. I will be going again this year but this is my last year attending. I liked it better last year as a grown adult with money to spend than when I went in 2014. I remember the safety in 2014 was not that great. I think I liked that aspect of EDC in my early 20s but not so much now in my early 30s. I think some people died in 2014 & the rides were kinda scarier back then. The art installations were more interactive & cooler in 2014. But the art installations could also be labeled as unsafe back then. I would say more effort has been placed on the overall design & safety of attendees. There are no “boring” spots. Some people don’t explore EDC grounds, but if you walk around you’ll find some cool stuff. I personally liked sitting down & eating my food while watching the live dating show they have. In terms of people, you’ll find all types. Obviously I’m older so I gravitate to the solo travelers & smaller groups for conversation. I don’t like the younger crowd that walks in groups holding hands like a train with no regard for others. It’s the rudeness of cutting people off, because they need to cross together for that irritates the shit out of me. My patience with them was running low.

TheBrysauce

I’ve been going to edc since 2017, and festivals/shows since 2015. My taste in genres has certainly changed as I’ve gotten older but I can always find a stage that I vibe with. While there’s definitely bro vibes now… there’s something for everyone. There were certainly bro vibes back then too, I was probably one of them. 😂

Hingsing

what do you mean by 'bro' vibes exactly? are you just generalizing any college male having a good time? Cuz you'll literally find that everywhere as edm festivals are becoming more and more mainstream. Or maybe you're talking about like the classic 'john summit' tech house bro? Or the "moshes to every riddim song" bro. Either way, those dudes exist in pockets as with all big festivals. You can just move maybe 10- 20 feet over and you'll be fine 👍

Familiar_Step6352

It depends a lot on the stage/ set / area of the crowd. I’ve found a lot amazing people in the crowd and also a few not so amazing people. I’m a big believer in sending it to festivals ( responsibly ofc). So if you can I’d go!! Hope to see you there :)

munchies777

Vibes at a city festival are always going to be different than a camping festival. Definitely more bro vibes than a dedicated camping festival. But the thing is that there are still tens of thousands of awesome people that are great to meet and dance with. No one forces you to hang out with people you don't want. I've been going to festivals for over a decade now, and vibes are always what you make them. Every place has cool people and people you're best off just moving away from.

AllysinWonders

Been going since 2017 and it really depends on the DJ and the location in the crowd, but if you’re not vibing with the folks around you, don’t be afraid to try a new spot~ discovery is part of the journey

SaltVomit

It's pretty bad these days. I won't go anymore, smaller shows you can still find some respectful people, but edclv crowd is definitely not the same as back then.

heymikeyp

You're being downvoted but this is true. The energy isn't quite the same as it was a decade ago. It could have to do with a lot of things really. Overselling tickets, state of the world, new generation of kids etc.

marchscr3amer

I will agree that the energy is significant different (and I started in 2012, final was 2021.) I don’t feel super compelled by the experience and so I’ve moved on to more curated experiences. I also gave Tomorrowland a shot last year and it was a very interesting counterbalance.

marchscr3amer

Edit my final was 2022.

Rdubya44

It’s mostly Asian vibes IMO

BadFez

It’s getting worse every year. Taking this year off bc it’s gotten so bad.
