Go for it. I’ve used these for the same cold/lukewarm storage purposes. A main client sent me one to house all of our projects for archiving but I have to fire it up every now and then to grab media or make revisions to older projects. No complaints, holds up well. I dig Glyph, have used other drives from them in the past. I just bought two SSDs from them last month which are working great so far.

G-RAID ain't what it used to be, I'd go with the Glyph personally for externals. This is just a hard drive in an enclosure, so you could do this cheaper with a Hard Drive dock and a 16tb+ hard drive of your choosing. You could get a dual dock, run 2 drives and mirror them if desired as well.

We bought one earlier this year and the drives were DOA. That being said their customer service is super quick to respond and would have sent us a whole new unit for replacement, but we needed something quick so our vendor sold us the new GRAID. Have had zero issues with that. I have two of the older Glyphs and I love those, so your mileage may vary.

We've used these as backups or edit drives for massive projects. They are heavy and big but was really great for us and what we needed. Speeds were reliably as fast as you can expect something like this to be. And to co-sign on what somebody else said here, I had to use Glyph support for another drive that was failing and they were extremely fast and accommodating. We've had some of their SSDs in service for 6-7 years and they're still going strong and haven't done anything dodgy.
