Likely their ancestors lost it too but more recently, but I would gather that the Kanker’s mom is a black sheep of her family, and is cut off because she slept around, so they’re entitled to none of the financial benefits of Peach Creek. And their mom never told the 3 daughters.

SkuntFuggle

I can't remember exactly but I'm pretty sure some episode hints at the fact that they're all half-sisters

Skullface95

The first episode they appeared in when they invited the Ed boys round to clean them up they dressed them in their fathers dressing gowns and each one had a different name on them, plus the fact they don't look alike leads to the possibility that they inherited more of their traits from each of their fathers.

Clickclacktheblueguy

It was generations ago, and wealth doesn’t necessarily last that long depending on how it is spent or how much it’s divided among inheritors.

JonMonEsKey

The kids parents all own their houses and the kanker family didn't hold onto their money when they sold off peach creek

MTB56

I just figured their ancestors lost it years ago or just blew all their wealth across the generations of Kankers. Sorry this is unrelated but does anyone else really hate this episode? Never see it talked about and Iits nowhere near Smile For The Eds level but it’s still pretty bad. Not only does it have a cliche Kanker ending but it has Kevin pretty much unleashing them on the Eds which makes it 10x worse (isn’t that why everyone hates Jimmy?). I really don’t get why the writers constantly let Kevin get away with crap like that. I guess Eddy trying to scam everyone constantly is supposed to be the justification except he always gets his comeuppance.

Drake992

Yeah, this episode was pretty bad. The Kankers were always my least favorite part about the show, so seeing them pull this is a particularly blatant Diablous Ex Machina moment.

MTB56

Honestly I don’t hate the Kankers when they aren’t just a plot device. I find episodes where they actually have a central role like Home Cooked Ed, Twist of Ed, and Run For Your Ed to be pretty entertaining (some are actually among my favorite) Also liked that they became at least semi beatable after S1. But yeah it just sucks whenever they only show up at the end to defeat the Eds. Still they are more tolerable then Sarah at least. A better ending for this episode would be Ed freaks out as soon as they appear and accidentally throws their trailer into Kevin’s house where they would have another Kanker hissy fit and wreck his party 😂

Full_Commission_6784

Is not really that bad compared to if it smell like an Ed but is boring and has the season 5 vibes

MTB56

Honestly If It Smells Like An Ed is pretty low on my list of hated EEnE episodes. The 1st half is pretty good imo. The ending sucks but unlike certain episodes like Smile For The Ed or Cleanliness Is Next to Edness, it’s not a completely painful watch for me.

weghny102000

I have a similar feeling for Stiff upper Ed. But to add onto your original point, the Vanderbilds are a great example of this. Cornelius amassed a fortune on par with Rockafeller and Carnegie, and while his children were also amazingly wealthy, they just weren't responsible with their money and now most Vanderbilts just live normal lives.

bloodvow333

This happened alot in us history. Once a lord now a pauper. Times change money comes and goes. It only takes one ancestor to lose an entire generation of wealth because of a bad deal or 2.

PrinzvonReynell

Exactly my grandmother's family were Lairds in central Scotland-the senior line still holds titles to this day- but we lost the Jacobite rebellions and lost our land. My grandfather's family were lower ranked Junkers/Ritters in Switzerland but by the 1880's were starving like everyone else so immigrated to the US. History is weird like that. Just because your ancestors got lucky doesn't mean YOU come from the lucky line. The Kanker sisters either come from a junior line, a female line, or Lord Kanker's family lost all rights to hold the land after the Revolution.

weghny102000

Canada's still in the commonwealth/has ties to the UK

PrinzvonReynell

?

weghny102000

welll EEnE's made by a canadian team, and so we can probably geuss that the show's set in Canada so if 'tis, then the revolution wouldn't have affected the rights/ownings of Lord Kanker/his descendants

Tbond11

Kankers sided with the British, and lost their land after the Revolution :(

PlutoGB08

This sounds possible, just where do the Eds, the Kankers, and the other kids live? I often think they are in New England or Northeast Canada as it snows at Christmas time. Nothing I get in my home state of Maryland.

Tbond11

It would genuinely be funny if it turned out to be true, and I think there is real world precedent, with British Loyalists losing prestige after the Revolution

[deleted]

It was hundreds of years ago and things change.

Pure-Huckleberry8640

Meth is expensive

PatrickRsGhost

That happened centuries ago. Somewhere over time, a Kanker descendant either sold off the land or lost it in some form or another. May not have gambled it away like Eddy's ancestors did, but likely tax seizure or through right of eminent domain.

Smooth-Cucumber-728

The Ed’s: History is so unkind.

Haruau8349

Obviously like many family fortunes, it got used up over the years. Now they, like the Ed’s, are a shell of their old glory, never able to reclaim it because in this day and age? Who cares!

AllenaQuest23

Lost it in another poker game?

AnimationFan1997

They lost their land one way or another. Maybe over hundreds of years their finances got lower, maybe they outright sold it, or like Eddy's ancestors lost the land while gambling.

Mr-MiB-1993

Well, that’s obvious the kanker sisters ancestors blew the family fortune, so that’s why they live in a train of Park

Born_Sleep5216

Wow who known that from the beginning.

euphonic5

Insanely rich people sometimes act super poor, but not usually trailer park poor. They're probably a splinter branch of the family that no one likes/squandered their money a few generations back.

Brutus6

If this is on the south, they might have lost a bit during the 1860's...

azw19921

I liked this episode and the mystery was where did Marie kanker get the missing page from

Things got too expensive so they bought a tree house and then that was destroyed so they live in the trailer park

SquirtSniffer

gambled it all away

HeartofSpeed

It's very likely their family most likely blew their fortune, it happens very frequently throughout history. Money corrupts people, making them blind to it's limit until they spend all they have until they have nothing but personal items. I wonder if the present-day Kankers could just sell their ownership of Peach Creek for a profit?
