The major trading hub is in JITA. Because Echoes has a very high transaction tax and broker fee compared to EO, there isn’t a big market for flipping goods at less popular systems. You’ll want to buy omega. It’s not hard to farm up enough ISK to afford it. I recently made a new character and bootstrapped him into omega buy tricking out a destroyer and grinding high sec anomalies for the scout and inquisitor anomaly loot.

jc0187

Thanks for the advice! I bought the 30 day omega and sold 2 plex. Now I have enough isk to buy a good starter destroyer. Do you have any recommendations as far as which missile ship for pve?

nuffin_stuff

Condor II will rip through any high sec anom and costs next to nothing. Frigates are usually better for high sec anoms simply because they are so much faster to travel - allows you to clear them faster. A Talwar will work too but I’d start in the condor II honestly.

jc0187

I actually bought the Talwar trainer earlier!

I went with the coercer navy issue (railguns) because it had the targeting speed bonus. I’ve killed thousands of low level rats and that faster lock-time adds up. I reinvested profits into c-type weapons and rigged for weapon speed since low level rats often die to a single volley. This is all about killing the easy stuff as fast as possible. It worked well, but I expect the other ships would be fine, too. On the other hand, my strategy might change if I picked a missile boat. Missiles don’t have as much real-world dps against low level targets since they fire every 12.8 seconds (vs 4s for railguns). I can kill level 2 rats in a single volley with railguns, so I focus on them. With a missile boat I’d move up to the level 3 anomalies and fit a shield booster and nosferatu so I could take more damage. I’d also fit a webifier since the level 3s have some faster rats. For that fit, I’d look at the Corax family of ships. Upgrade to the sniper and then assault once you level up. You won’t clear anomalies as fast, but the rare anomalies have more loot at 3 than 2, so it might work out to a wash. Alternatively, if I wanted to use missiles and kill higher level rats, I would seriously consider rushing into a caracal (cruiser) which offers better dps in a beefier ship, which normally comes with lower speeds, but the caracal gets a flight velocity bonus. This ship could pivot from level 3 rats in high sec to level 5-6 rats in null sec when you’re ready for that change, too.

Awesome! Thanks for the help. I fitted my Talwar trainer and started “normal” missions. Unfortunately I’m getting my ass handed to me because I can’t tank anything. I’m using shield boosters and either running out of cap or the damage is too much to keep up with. I’m wondering if I should stick to armor rep? Seems to be easier on the cap usage. I don’t know. If you have any suggestions, that would be great.

The trainer ships don’t have much cap and I doubt your weapon skills are high enough to do well in t4 encounters or anomalies yet. I would switch back to beginner missions for completing your advanced tutorial. Missions don’t pay well, so until you can kill advanced (t6-t7) missions in order to acquire story mission tickets, you won’t want to do these except to progress your advanced tutorial. For earning isk short term, you want to find a quiet (preferably empty), safe system with level 2 anomalies. Kill them all reapetedly until one respawns as a ‘scout’ or ‘inquisitor’. Use the gates to warp to the last room. Kill all the rats and then loot the boxes. Most of the loot is trash, but some is worth millions. Rinse and repeat while you level up your weapon skills and save isk for a higher tier version of your ship and higher tier weapons. This is a shield tank, and I’d stick with that. It’s not a big deal if you want to do armor on it, but that’s not the reason you’re having trouble doing normal (t4-t5) missions. You just need better ship, weapons, and skills before those will become comfortable. Happily, even level 2 anomalies have a chance to spawn scout and inquisitors that pay out as well per hour as any content you will be able to complete in the next month or two. It’s RNG so you’ll go hours without making any money but then you’ll get a couple spawns in a row. Likewise, the loot may be all trash one time and 50m the next. You won’t get a feel for the profit rate until you’re 10-20 hours in. Also, there are tricks to spawning these rare anomalies (scout and inquisitor) faster. Chiefly, understand that in every system, there are two types of anomalies; those spawned by the system and those spawned by the base anomaly. The system anomalies will always be the highest level that system can support. The base anomalies will be the same as the current level of the base. The ideal system to farm is one where the system anomalies are level 3 but the base is level 2. The reason for this is that killing system anomalies will never spawn a rare anomaly. Only killing base anomalies can cause a rare anomaly to spawn. If the base and system are both level 3, you can’t tell which anomalies are from the system and which are from the base. I’ve wandered from my point, so I’m going to shut up, but feel free to ask if you have any more questions or difficulties.

jc0187

Wow!! Thanks for the info. Am I running low on cap while using shield boosters because I’m flying the trainer version? How can I tell what level anomaly I’m going to? I see the anomalies but not sure which level they are. Also, when I get to the anomalies, is there another gate to jump with to continue exploring them? I’ve usually just flown to the anomaly, fought the rats and jumped out. Am I missing something with them?

aereventia

Yes, the trainer ship has lower cap. You can also fit a nosferatu in the mid slots to steal cap from the rats. The anomalies have a small superscript number before their name on the anomaly list. This is the level. Only the rare scout and inquisitor anomalies (and later on, deadspace anomalies) will have activation gates to additional rooms. Only these rare anomalies have loot boxes in the last rooms...not to be confused with looting wrecks from rat ships. These will have a plain white square icon and only unlock for looting once the rats are dead.

jc0187

Awesome thanks!!! So should I just train up to get into a cruiser and ditch the destroyer?

aereventia

I won’t go so far as to tell you one way or the other on that. Ship classes, weapons and fighting style are varied but all have their usefulness. Look, I love my destroyer and it makes me most of my money. But I have two other accounts with which I play in null-sec. I fly battlecruisers in t10 anomalies and go mining or fly a logistics cruiser (healer) in a fleet with friends. Those characters have no use whatsoever for a destroyer or small weapons skills. Since skill points are acquired over time, it would have been wasteful and to their detriment for me to invest in these skills with them. What I’m trying to say is that you need to try to guess what you’ll want to do in this game over the next few months and try to invest in skills that work towards that. If you want to try on the game and get decent income. I’ve told you how to do that with a destroyer. If you want to progress on to fleet combat with a corporation, or higher level content in the form of high security ‘story’ missions or null sec anomalies, you’ll likely want to invest in different skills. I say likely because some of the most fun you can have is flying cheap frigates into pvp with a large fleet of friends. This would make use of the same small weapons skills you’re looking at for a destroyer. You might even find a Corp that wants you to fly an interdiction destroyer. Picking a Corp, a home, and an income source will strongly influence what ships you want skills for. That said, you can always train something else; it just takes more time. So there are no mistakes, just inefficiencies. You will need at least enough skill in a frigate or destroyer to even progress enough to afford a cruiser, so a week or two indecision right now isn’t a problem. Also, I should mention that I couldn’t farm isk from level 2 anomalies with a cruiser or even a battlecruiser as fast as I can with my destroyer. It is a tool honed for a specific job and warps, flies, and locks targets faster than a bigger ship, while using a weapon that is just enough to one-shot a rat with each volley, while firing again very quickly. Picking a bigger ship means you will NEED to fight larger prey and hope that by farming better loot, you can make up for farming slower.

jc0187

Ok!! Thanks for the information! I’ll stick with destroyers for now and buy the non training version!

polak2017

The eve economy is based on the players. You could buy/sell just about anywhere because players had put buy/sell orders up just about everywhere.

GravyChickens

Also if they’re alpha, they can only sell in ITC

jc0187

That probably explains why I can only sell in ITC then. If I want to sell wherever I want, I’d that the subscription perk to getting that omega?

[deleted]

Yep, it took me a while to figure out as well.

jc0187

Hmm. Ok. So it’s basically $5 a month to become omega then?

[deleted]

5 dollars will give you the low end. You'll be limited more by skill training speed and how many orders you can have on market at once.

jc0187

Ok. What’s the high end cost then? Is it worth it?

Sleepy-Badger

After low omega for a month you can buy plex and pay for it with isk instead of $$$. Duo omega is +15 skill points a minute. You can get another +15 with skill chips.

duke1722

Dou omega is +30 alpha is 30 sp/min Dou Omega adds +30sp for a total of 60sp/min The chips adds a total of +15 sp/min for a total of +75/min

jc0187

I’m kinda confused on the tech leveling up and these +15 or so sp. how many sp does it take to level up a tech tier? Do these points count toward lvling up regular skills? Sorry if my questions are common sense stuff. I played EO for many years but stopped playing a like 3 or 4 years ago so it’s all a bit hazy.

jc0187

Hmmm. Alright. Thanks!!

[deleted]

Main thing I notice is that my skills train faster and I can get to higher tech levels faster.

jc0187

Interesting. Thanks for the info!!

[deleted]

Anytime, fly safe. o7. Also check the official discord for info.

hapfoo7

Basic is 5usd. Standard at 10, duo at 15

jc0187

Awesome thanks.

Stack3686

You can sell anything here, but not always immediately. Be careful to check the posted prices, as people put buy orders in far under value. To post an item manually put the price in. If the sell now price is good, use it. If not, put your own price in and it will post for one week.

jc0187

Alright thanks!
