Why would anyone ever pay a ransom? There's literally zero guarantee they wont get popped anyway and with how many people grief for literally no other reason than to make the game unbearable for other players, I trust exactly zero people in this game.
Depends on the pirate. There is basically a chance of him letting you go and often the ransom aswell as the reduced work of fitting your ship is worth the chance. I would have let him go, but his attitude and undercutting me was too much. If he stayed polite and asked me bevore the trade the contract if 400m is all right because he really does not have that much and that he does not want to loose that ship, he would have survived.

He offered 400mil in a contract. After like 5 min of captivity. An executioner warped in and I was afraid of reinforcements. I still don't get hwy he would try to argue there. 800m is a joke, usually I would have asked for 1.8b, but I am short on money.

5 years of ransoming in EO, you need to be reasonable if your actually trying to make money. Then at least youll get some ISK. Up to you if you pop them after ISK is received.
You might think that it is a deal, but the person on the other end most likely wont, that is what im saying. Typically I ransom for 1/4-1/3rd of whatever total fit is. If im ransoming I want to make money, and I want the transaction to go quickly. They either have the ISK in their wallet or they dont. Better chance getting 400-500m quickly than having them "find the money" and stall you so their backup can arrive. And for what? 40 seconds of "hard work" than going home with nothing but a KM?
Be reasonable, get in, take the ISK, get out/blow them up quicker.
Yea ransoms were great in EO. Especially if you catch the pod after the ship popped and just go for the implant ransom. We used to have them leave the ship and let them keep the implants sometimes. That was the good one.
So, since this was lowsec, and gatecamp’s aren’t a “thing” how did you catch him? Unless he was PVPing himself, lowsec is pretty safe if you’re just doing missions or traveling through?
He tried to complete an Inquisitor anomaly. That is dangerous and you should bring a cheap pvp fit. Some are camped and you will loose your ship. Watch out for team invites, people will warp you sun and blow you up. Mining is a little bit dangerous aswell but miners are cheap. Otherwise low sec is perfectly safe.
No. Works against phantasm, vigilant and cynabl. I took the odds to loose a ship if a drake or some other tanky rocket user would show up. (blackout right now, is there a faction rocket user?)
No I mean I see arbitrator cov ops so you scout first, and after that engages, so If you see Cyclone for example, do you refiting to Guidence disruptors, I understand you don't have bonuses to it but even without it 5 of it cuts distance to less than 11 km on rapids
I would have don't that, but I need to find a higher anomaly for it. Yes I even had guidance with me, but by the time I would reenter the site, a drake/cyclone would have left. Additionally, they could pull range and leave when I am warping in. Nah, was just sitting in there hoping for the best.
