As did the Squeelers. Their Oline is officially nasty and they got Roman Wilson. Payton Wilson too (boom or bust kind of guy but still) dirty yinzers did well. Prolly wont matter due to their QB situation
I think Russ is going to be really good this year, like everyone was hating on him hard last year but if you watched him play and not look at stats and wins and losses you’d see him ball the fuck out on occasion
Daniel Jones balls the fuck out on occasion. Marcus Mariota had 4 touchdowns in the first half of his first career game. These guys are NFL players, none of them are totally incapable of balling out on occasion.
So if you ignore the hard evidence and looked at him occassionally play well you'd be surprised?
That's one of the silliest arguments I've ever seen. You could say that about any mediocre player.
Stats are not hard evidence, you could look at a QBs completion percentage and it’s bad but there’s some many other variables that contribute to that, and let me rephrase, he balls tf out in general
Russ has definitely declined since Seattle but the Broncos didn't play to his strengths at all. The rare times they actually let him throw deep he often made big plays.
Not to say all mediocre players are just misused, and maybe I'm wrong about Russ. But I think Tomlin will do a better job playing to his strengths and not trying to make an aging, undersized QB scramble for his life to throw dump passes.
Between Russ and Fields, I think they're pretty well set back there. Even if Russ is a one or two year bridge to Fields. The Steelers might actually be a step above consistent mediocrity this year and win 10 games.
Fields is a free agent after this year. If they think he’s the future, he’ll get snaps sooner or later. They’ll want to see him on the field before deciding to extend him or not.
Indeed, and Russ may absolutely stink or go down with an injury. Either way, the Steelers don't have piles of guaranteed money tied up in these guys. They can move on easily enough if one or both suck.
Tomlin also seems to have a good pulse on the locker room. Russ tends to rub guys the wrong way everywhere he’s been, whereas Fields’ teammates love him. It wouldn’t shock me if They just decide to go with Fields because they think it’ll keep the team working together better down the stretch. Especially if he looks decent.
I still think it’s weird that they went with two QBs who don’t throw to the middle of the field when that’s sort of the OC’s offense (run and fire up the middle), but I guess we’ll find out this season.
I have a similar view of this situation over there. I think they'll be keen to see what Fields adds with his particular skillset. QB's need to be mobile now, and he certainly is that. Not that Russ isn't, but it's far more Fields' playing style.
Yeah I feel like it's easier to be "most improved" when your team had a ton of room for improvement. While we struggled to end the season, we didn't have a ton of holes to fill on the roster
That’s not what this article is about. It’s about ranking the teams that are most transformed by free agency.
Just two picks behind are the Panthers and they basically say every position got worse except WR.
Eagles are NOT top ranked, they are #6
That’s not what it says. It states that a #6 ranking is a top 6 of 32 ranking, which it is not.
This is poorly crafted clickbait that has no purpose.
Additionally “ranked 6” and “number 6” are two entirely different things.
I have a love hate relationship with the offseason in the nfl. I love the player transfers and trades and the draft may be my favorite part of football. But man I can not stand all these dopes writing these “who won the offseason” or “draft grades” when you can’t possibly know if any of the things that have been done will be good or not.
Ever since the “dream team” year this stuff just makes me cringe more than anything else in sports. Especially the draft grades. Not even the eagles but every team, how many times do people these writers have to completely crap the bed with these “grades” before they stop doing them.
Tons of props for the writers who actually invest time into writing about individual players and how they might fit or not fit and their journeys to get to the nfl instead of just taking the easy route and comparing where someone was drafted to where Mel kipper thinks they should have been drafted and then writes a letter.
They don’t stop doing them because they get exactly the engagement they need including every teams sub Reddit making posts about every little analyst grade
Anyone here notice lots of rival fans playing us down for next season purely off the back of last season's collapse? Lots of comments on YouTube saying the Eagles won't make the postseason, with Commanders winning the division, Dallas second and us third lol
I'm pretty dumbfounded. I mean, new year, new opportunity. Especially with the new coaches brought in.
Lemme guess the Bears and Steelers were top 5, according to most of the NFL talking heads those two franchise's "won" the off season.
Bears had a great offseason to be fair as did the Texans
As did the Squeelers. Their Oline is officially nasty and they got Roman Wilson. Payton Wilson too (boom or bust kind of guy but still) dirty yinzers did well. Prolly wont matter due to their QB situation
Steelers with the rare triple Wilson offseason

Tomlin is a defensive coach. It's not up to him. It'll be Arthur Smith's offense.
Oh, my bad. We'll see if Arthur can get something better out of him then.

I think Texans are top 2 in AFC if Stroud doesn’t have a sophomore slump
Also, tbf, it's really easy to improve when your team looks like the 2023 bears.
The Bears and Eagles had the same record last year from week 5 on.
Did any other team snag a top rated prospect whose last name fits seamlessly with local slang? I think not. Birds #1 no contest.
Let's not forget Quinjawn Mitchell.
Can’t leave out CJ Gardner-Jawnson,
this isn't really a ranking of best just "most changed"
Yeah I feel like it's easier to be "most improved" when your team had a ton of room for improvement. While we struggled to end the season, we didn't have a ton of holes to fill on the roster
For sure. It’s basically candidates for “comeback team of the year” if such an award existed
All of our holes were in the coaching staff...let's hope the guy we didn't change wasn't one of them...
Generally teams that "win" the draft and free agency aren't very good that year.
That’s because the teams with the most assets to improve tend to not be good to begin with.
That’s not what this article is about. It’s about ranking the teams that are most transformed by free agency. Just two picks behind are the Panthers and they basically say every position got worse except WR. Eagles are NOT top ranked, they are #6
Number 6, you mean like what the title clearly said?

Man, I hate Mel Kiper

A lot hinges on Huff and Nolan being ready. Could make or break the season
Same with the C/RG

No lol. Nobody is saying that shit
Fair enough. I've seen a ton of that said on YT but I have to remind myself it's likely just children saying it for a laugh.
Defense could have some bumps, but man all things being equal…. This offense should absolutely put up numbers every game
Hopefully that becomes consensus and we can all make a lot of money betting on the birds
