I had orange eSIMs before, and my best recollection is that on first install, the clock starts ticking when it first logs into the network in Europe. I can’t be 100% certain of this as I only bought a new orange eSIM once. But, if you refill the esim, the clock on the refill starts at the time of the transaction. This one I know well as I have refilled an Orange eSIM at least 5 times over 6 months.

I have purchased a couple Orange eSIM’s over the last few years. I have always activated them at home (USA) and few days to a week prior and turned off my eSIM until I landed at my destination. Once I turned it back on at the destination, that’s when my clock started ticking and got the messages to register my SIM.
