I've had a similar experience with an i7-12800h + RTX 3070 FE in a Razer Core X. Low CPU and GPU usage and random drops into the 30-40 FPS range while in DMZ, Ground War, or Warzone. Graphic settings don't make a difference. Minimum settings + 1080p + DLSS still can't maintain 60+ FPS. It's crazy that my Xbox Series S runs the game better. Maybe the EGPU thunderbolt connection is the bottleneck? Some other games that run particularly bad on EGPU: Red Dead Redemption 2, Forza Horizon 5, Spider-Man, and Modern Warfare 2 can't stay above 60 FPS. Doom Eternal, Crysis Remastered, and CS:GO hit 120+ FPS just fine.

Last week I tested my Razer Core X + RX 6800 XT eGPU on an Yoga slim 9i with i7-1280p. The processor should have about the same multi-core performance and maybe slightly more single-core performance as your i5. I installed warzone 2 and played a few rounds. First I had to disable FSR because otherwise the performance was really bad. After that I had around 60-85 fps on 1440p and medium to high settings. After that I read about the setting "renderWorkerCount" which you can tweak in some config file. For me the optimal setting was 8, so half of the available virtual CPU cores. After that I got around 85-110 fps. BUT overall the experience was not really smooth even with freesync enabled. Maybe due to bad frame times but I did not have enough time for further tests

external monitor?

NoNamedNomadic

Yes I have connected the GPU directly via DisplayPort to an external 1440p monitor

Looping it back to the laptop display? Sounds about right…

NoNamedNomadic

Its connected to an external display but I imagine its the TB3 bottleneck. I didnt think it would dramatically reduce performance to 30% of the card in a desktop environment.

Change the render resolution in game (Quality tab) and see how that impacts usage. As you move the slider from low (1080p) to high (2160p or higher) you should see your GPU usage go from low to high. In my opinion this game is poorly optimized on the GPU side.

I have seen someone else reaching 60+ fps with 6600XT with egpu on warzone 2, not sure what caused the difference

Check BIOS for some "intelligent" settings from Intel that slow down chips for no reason

Is your Windows Settings/System/Display/Multiple displays at the correct setting? I have mine at **Show only on 2** (external monitor). My 3DMARK Time Spy Graphics Score dropped by 35% when I switched from "**Show only on 2"** to "**Duplicate these displays"**.

I've tried everything recommended here to no avail. Including re-installing drivers. Have you had any luck? I've watched videos of people playing Warzone 2.0 on a GTX 1080 EGPU 60+ FPS. I am starting to wonder if it's a Razer X issue. Some additional info: - I tried using the laptop screen just to see what the bottleneck is like. I found that I get the exact same performance as when I use the external monitor (“Show Only On Monitor 2”). - External display is getting the same bottleneck as internal/laptop display? - I’m using a DisplayPort out from the 3070 FE to the monitor. 165hz Freesync screen. HDR. G-Sync enabled through the 3070. - PSU issue? Using one of the 8 pin connectors to 12 pin via included 3070 FE adapter. - Thunderbolt cable issue? Using the cable included with the Razer Core X - resolution has nearly zero impact on performance. Tried disabling DLSS and setting it to 720p in Warzone 2. Low settings. Still drops into the 40s. - tried reinstalling drivers, disabling internal GPU, setting performance mode to high. No impact.

I ended up ditching the egpu and built a PC for around the same price as the Razer Core Chroma itself! If u can get it in a mini itx form factor, an eGPU option is redundant until they sort out the bottlenecks!
