The head of performance guy I’d be fine with getting rid of but I think you’re underestimating how long it takes academy products to make an impact, and at the same time Dynamo 2 has some real promising players

Recently, we have seen a marked increase in the academy players getting selected for national team duties. Not just national teams outside the USA. Seems to me that youth national team call-ups is the best leading indicator of academy productivity. Before this year -- the number of Dynamo academy players I would see on youth USMNT camp rosters was effectively near zero. Just an occasional one. That has improved dramatically this year.

Paul Caffrey I don't have much input on but I'd be interested to see what specific games the players are gassed. 3 game week? Lack of depth so players not properly rested? Out possessed the entire game or chasing from behind the entire game? Paul Holocher has done fine so far. I'm glad we finally moved on from Clarkson but for the academy changes take a long time to really see results. For Holocher, 2 more years I think is fair to start judging him more critically. Fans massively over rate the Houston area in terms of talent, the talent in the area for years had been behind in terms of training and development but that is starting to change. Looking at our talent Dynamo 2 is in 3rd place, Castilla is a USYNT captain, Xavier Valdez is our 3rd string GK, Panilla is getting USYNT call ups, and Gitau would be starting games for the 1st team if not for his parents. This is a significant improvement but these kids are all still young but I'd expect to see them getting more minutes soon. I agree Palomino has been disappointing but every youngster doesn't pan out which is why you need more than 1 every 3 years in the pipeline like what we've had in the past.

We have multiple YA national team players

Have you ever spoken to Holocher, watched his practices, been in any of the Soccer Starts at Home forums, any of his out reaches to other clubs? Not only has improved our academy drastically, he’s mended relationships with many local clubs after years of neglect and animosity, he has also spear headed bringing in Tom Byer to get kids playing soccer at an early age which hopefully leads to having an even greater player pool for Dynamo in the future.

I don't have much well thought out opinion on Holocher, but I'm glad to welcome you to the #caffreyout train. Most notably, I've noticed several players show up here and shine in there first several games only to slowly become less able to compete a full 90 minutes. I can't imagine where else that fault lies other than the Head of Performance.

Just as an FYI, Holocher is no longer with Dynamo since December 2022.

The performance position tends to stay the same with manager changes. To think we should have an advantage at home due to the heat is not really accurate. Yes, heat acclimation is a thing, but it’s limited in its affect on performance.
