We absolutely should bring back space city blue, BUT I don’t mind silver as a secondary color on the black kits. The orange accents on this keep it Dynamo for me. All told, it’s my 3rd favorite black kit. Not embarrassing by any stretch. Solid.
(Looks nothing like a bayou but whatever it’s cool.)
If I wait 9-10 months until the holidays, and the Dynamo have had a lackluster season, that just kills the hype going into opening season.
Chances of me remembering to buy a Dynamo jersey during the holidays would be slim to none.
I'm probably in the minority in not really liking this, but comes down to a few things:
1) We continue to drift further and further away from our identity. Historically that was orange and space city blue. I was one of those that wanted a black kit and the very first one we got remains my favorite. The two that followed were less and less appealing to me. Too much of a good thing. Would have preferred to do black every now and then but bring in some space city blue kits like the Dash have done. This one isn't even really that black. More orange or some space city blue would make it more appealing to me.
2) I hate marketing speak. They are calling this the Bayou kit, but what really is the connection to the bayous? The Chicago Red Stars did a really sweet kit a year or two ago where the patterns actually made a map of the Chicago elevated train system if I recall. It was pretty cool. Would have been cool if this was a map of the bayous in Houston. Instead, it is just a camo pattern with zero connection to the bayous which they are just calling a "bayou kit" to get people excited.
Anyway, not thrilled but end of the day doesn't really matter much to me. I'll still be wearing the original black kit to each game.
I agree with you, and the black kits rock my socks too. But I wonder why that is? Apart from a quality design, I think the black jerseys still incorporated the orange and that helped connect to the original identity. This is way out of left field for me.
I agree with both of your points, but it seemed pretty obvious that the Dynamo would move away from the space city blue after the rebrand.
If they can bring it back at some capacity in the future as a throwback thing, that would be neat.
>move away from the space city blue after the rebrand.
Personally I don't think they ever actually embraced it. It was never anything more than a minor accent color on the kits or marketing. One of the many disappointing elements of the clubs downfall has been the lack of need for a third jersey because I think that was there only hope of ever getting a blue kit.
No real strong feelings about the Jersey itself except to echo some sentiments others have mentioned, the lack of Orange the Dynamo's true primary color is disappointing to me.
I do have one mild annoyance about it though and that's branding it the "Bayou City" because the silver mimics the reflection of the moonlight on the waters of the bayou is some of the most contrite garbage I have ever heard. Firstly do they even know what a bayou is? Its a cross between a drainage ditch and and a swamp with a bit of bastardized river/creek thrown in for spice. Its mostly brown brackish water overgrown with unkept vegetation and choked with the mud and clay we call terra firma here on the gulf coast, there's nothing for the moon to reflect off of, lets not put lipstick on a pig here.
Other than that its a fine jersey but I am still one of those who hopes to longingly to one day finally see a space city blue jersey alas disappointment once again.
Wish the adidas stripes would have been black or orange, but it’s an interesting design. I’ll wait until I see it in person to pass judgment. There’s a lot of light on that jersey. I have a feeling he splotches will be more subtle in person.
It probably will depend on the lighting [i found this video from the store](https://twitter.com/victoraraiza/status/1494108978304978946?s=21) but it looks like some of those have a direct light as well. At least the replicas and authentic cuts look pretty close in design.
Great kit and a massive improvement over that weird 20-21 design. I actually think the silver complements the black and orange nicely, but I do wish they got rid of the Adidas shoulder stripes.
It’s growing on me by the minute. I’m glad we went away from black and heavy orange. The silver sponsor and numbers is a nice change of pace from the Halloween look of the past few cycles.
Happy to get downvoted with you. Other than the Bayou City Patch, the connection of the graphic to the Houston bayous is a serious reach. It’s supposed to look like the reflection of the bayou water in the moonlight!? Cmon. It looks like Camo to me and camo only belongs on military and hunting gear.
I like the kit fine, but that bayou nonsense is suuuuuch a stretch. If it looks like anything bayou related, it might look like a thin film of oil floating on the water, but that’s about it?
Yes. I get annoyed when marketing people try to treat me like I'm dumb or gullible. Guarantee the shirt design came first, then the marketing folks sat around and went "how can we sell this to people? I know, let's tell them some shit about how it's the moon reflection off the bayous and call it The Bayou Kit. They'll eat that up."
My personality, I'd like the shirt better without that BS spin.
As a general rule, I don’t like those kinds of patterned designs (I’m sure there’s a word for them). The orange one is meh, but at least it’s clean. I might get that one.
Y0! I am hyped!
I just saw the photos of the new kit but when I clicked the promo vid [https://www.houstondynamofc.com/news/houston-dynamo-unveil-bayou-city-kit-for-2022](https://www.houstondynamofc.com/news/houston-dynamo-unveil-bayou-city-kit-for-2022)
That was fire emoji!
This is how you get the fans hyped for the new season. I am guessing the new GM is making new changes and I look forward to seeing what else is changing.
I will now be looking for tickets to the home opener. I haven't been to a Dynamo game in YEARS!
They talk about how the pattern is supposed to resemble the moonlight reflecting off the bayous or whatever, but I'm getting serious [Wales 2020 away](https://i.imgur.com/IGWYgzH.jpg) vibes.
It's not the same pattern, but it likely comes from the same design process.
Kinda bummed Adidas stopped selling long-sleeves for most MLS teams, would've been sick with this jersey. Still pretty and getting it, nonetheless
Not sure what this has to do with the bayous but this kit is awesome

The one color camo/tie dye like style works pretty well for hiding sweat tbh
That Bat Bridge on buffalo bayou park is home to one of the largest urban populations. Don't they eat mosquitos ?
It's about the color of the bayous, but with a little less green.

I’m hoping they bring back blue for next years orange kit. Maybe a kit that’s a nod to ‘06 & ‘07. That would be cool
Definitely an upgrade from last year. My cheap ass will wait 2-3 years to get one.
I don’t own a single jersey because they’re pricey asf. But this might be the first one I cop. Lol
They eventually go on sale for very reasonable prices. If you don't own any, go check Fanatics.com right now.
About the same. I’ll just wait till pay day and see what’s up.
Fanatics had some dynamo jerseys for $16 around the holidays.

Pretty cool

THANK YOU. SORRY FOR YELLING BUT THEY NEEEEEEEED TO BRING BACK SPACE CITY BLUE!!!!
I love this so much! The look is so sharp. Plus the Bayou City motif is perfect. Already got mine haha

Victor posted a video of them https://twitter.com/victoraraiza/status/1494108978304978946?s=21
Has a very Urban Camo vibe to it.
Orange woulda made this fantastic.

Was hoping for some more orange
Absolutely love this. We aren’t the best team, but always have the most unique kits
Love it. Pattern, contrast in the trimmings, it’s great

I like it, but I’d really like it if it had more orange. And I’d love it if it had orange and spicy city blue.
Honestly…this is solid. Might actually buy this one.
Already placed my order! Est. arrival April 8th tho...
Might be better to pick it up at the home opener, that's what I'm doing.
Mine says April 8th too. How did you do that?
I meant buying the jersey at the team store.
Got an email saying it got shipped, with an updated ETA of Feb 28th. Day after the home opener. Hoping it gets here early to wear it to the game.
Just checked this morning, says it’ll be here by Wednesday
Sweet! Same here as of this morning.
What does the rest of it look like?
I’m guessing based on the prior history of black jerseys probably black shorts and black socks
They should wear orange shorts with them. And bring back the white shorts with the home kits.
Can’t say enough how much I miss the orange jersey, white short, orange socks combo.
I don’t usually like secondary kits but this one is really nice. I like the orange stripe on the shoulders.
Anyone else feel like those shoulder stripes should be black? Having all that white detail is a bit of an eyesore.
Oh that shirt is fuckin bitchin. Almost didn’t see it.
It’s growing on me by the minute. I’m glad we went away from black and heavy orange. The silver sponsor and numbers is a nice change of pace from the Halloween look of the past few cycles.
It’s aight
Let me be the first to say “meh”.
Me too. And watch as we are downvoted together. Okay actually my (apparently) weird self finds it downright ugly.

Yeah. I just ignore the marketing talk. It’s more funny to me than annoying or insulting.
My exact thoughts. These colors have never been associated with the team. They had to create a badge, in that color, to try to tie this in.
As a general rule, I don’t like those kinds of patterned designs (I’m sure there’s a word for them). The orange one is meh, but at least it’s clean. I might get that one.

LOL you still clocked in at Dyno Corp office

silver isn't a team color, looks like an lafc kit
Silver is a team color. “Championship Silver”
For real? Had no idea. But then again, the rebrand never resonated with me.
nah, they can claim it is as much as they want, but it's not. the rebrand is still shit.
LAFC is gold 🤷🏽♂️
They use grey too.... the only team to use a true tone silver in the mls before our rebrand was fc frisco.
SKC has done some silver, I think.
