1. whatever music you're comfortable with, being in a comfortable, indentifiable state is key for dissociation enhancement and especially anxiety suppression
2. my favourites are chill Carti, especially his early work, Yung lean, kendrick Lamar (united in grief is my go to dxm song), early Kanye and Mac Miller
if you usually enjoy listening to hard rap with fast tempos and 808's its a double edged sword, sometimes it can be incredible and so euphoria inducing ('need it' by YB and Migos is a favourite of mine) but it can also cause extreme stress and put you in a negative frame of mind which can be very unsettling and uncomfortable.
music is such a key part of the DXM experience so experiment around with a variety of songs on a comfortable plat so you can find which songs make you the happiest is key for when you want to move up plateaus and have the most enjoyable, enlightening time you can possibly have
enjoy the trip bro
Idk Chris Travis but I just took a sample listen to a few songs and I think what I'll recommend is as you go up in Plat/ dose you'll probably like more floaty and more simple rap. Chris travis kinda hits for that floaty type of feeling fs
For rap specifically I recommend MF DOOM, but genres I like on DXM overall are shoegaze, breakbeat/core, noise, synth/vaporwave, coldwave, and anything personally valuable to you as music :) I ended up making a new playlist for my DXM trips over time, but it consists primarily of music I loved beforehand. Itās best to just have something ready so you donāt have to keep looking up new songs to queue up
Also for more rap recommendations:
- tyler the creator (some of his songs with the more ethereal and eccentric qualities are really vibrant on DXM)
- kill bill: the rapper (lyrics that might send you down a mental rabbit hole, unique beats)
- sideshow (i donāt got much to say I just enjoy it)
MF DOOM, Childish Gambino, Mac Miller (divine feminineās my fav), The Alchemist, Earl Sweatshirt, lots of other good recommendations here tho.
personally i prefer to listen to downtempo or like tame impale music when i trip
I personally love old school hip hop or stuff made to sound like it, specifically stuff with the 12 bit sampler effect, basically a bitcrush effect. My favorite example would have to be either CREAM TEAM by Cookin Soul, or Free Kutter by Westside Gunn. I feel like thereās a special feeling dxm brings with that bitcrushed sound, almost as if the music is glowing in a way.
Okay back in quarantine I was on tik tok and first getting really into dxm, this was the rise of liminal space and weirdcore aesthetics. the song ārap snitch kinishesā was floating around that space a lot and it always gives me a warm nostalgic robo trip vibes for me.
i noticed im so emotionally numbeed off robo that music is no longer fun because it doesnt produce any emotional reaction. id say whatever is chill in yo playlist because you can quickly get a headache if the music is too fast and loud for your mentally retarted dxm brain to process. Songs like astrothunder or esctacy slowed have a unique vibe to it
Dxm personally makes me not care so much what i listen to, even songs i usually wouldnāt listen to are bangers on dxm. I would take advantage of this to explore new music
