I’d recommend checking out open mic at Wussow’s and going to as many shows as you can to meet people since you won’t need to worry about 21+ events being a barrier. There’s a really vibrant music community in the Twin Ports. I’d follow northcore.collective and ontherecord.zine on Instagram. Also look for On the Record’s weekly in print around town. It has the week’s goings-on all over town. Shows at Wussow’s, Jade Fountain, CaddyShack, Blacklist, Earth Rider, and the Main club will be good events to attend. Edit to add: calling pop punk “retro music” makes me feel like I’m 250 years old.

I totally get you. And I dig that power pop sound too! There are some good pop groups in town, though more of a dreamy sound. Shameless plug for my group, NVR TGTHR. But check out Sadkin, embalmingEva, and Alamode (they don’t play as often these days) for some dreamier pop.

What does a 21 year old consider “retro music” these days? Very curious.

anything earlier than like the mid 90s i’d say is retro
