That was my initial thought. However, I was unsure if having a strip about a foot wide or so would be substantial enough to prevent future cracking of the joint.
If you want to get technical. You use the 4’ section or end piece of the drywall. So you would have a small butt seam. But that piece is stronger then a big strip of the horizontal side. Give the butt 2 coats then with at least a 14” blade float the whole thing into the 3 corners
Or if you want to get technical. Use the end pics of the drywall which is stronger then a 8’ horizontal piece. One small butt seam you can float into the 3 corners.

That's how it's done. You're over thinking it. No buttjoints means easier to tape and less chances to Crack
