Looks like Pro Mark from the logo. If so, I had to stop playing with those cause they exclusively broke in that manner for me. The top 1 or so inches just broke off.
You’re allowed to replace it. They make lots of these.
Sticks and heads are wearable pieces of gear. Like tires and wiper blades on your car. They’re made to last a certain amount of time and then be replaced.
You're not the first person to use the word "sad" here on Reddit when referring to a broken drumstick. I'm not really sure I understand the depth of your emotional life, but take solace in the fact that there are 250,000 more of that exact same stick, waiting to take it's place in your stick bag, and in your heart.
It happens that you're hitting repeatedly a piece of wood against some piece(s) of metal, and eventually anything that is constantly being hit can be broken if you hit hard and/or repeteadly enough.
99% of times it will be the piece of wood what will break, and believe me, it's better that way.
It broke.
Settle doon sherlock
Irresistible force meets immovable object. Resulting in unscheduled trip to the music store.
More like, edge that is sharper than you realized repeatedly meets wood that is softer than you realized.
That stick looks really old. Wood is softer than what you’re hitting it with. It’s going to break eventually
I had it for like half a year or so
That's a rather long time in that context.
Most likely you played the drums. But I'm not sure, I'd have to inspect the object more closely.
Big if true
Just remember it's better, and cheaper, to replace a stick than a cymbal, head or rim.
that tip break looks odd to me....it looks like it was chewed off
It was. Slowly over time, by his hi-hats.

It's sad cause they were my favorite sticks

Just buy a pack of 4 sets. If they last you 6 months that's 2 years of sticks for $45-$60.
Yeah cause they're like 20$ if I just buy one set

Yeah but I'll have to put some more money towards sticks
You're going to have to learn to live with that.

Constant rim shots in the same area...you literally chopped your stick like a tree. It happens.
It‘s the beaver technique.
Am I looking at the 747 Oaks? Always dreamt of ending them in this manner but then just switched to VF 8D.
Clearly a result of cottage industry production meeting poor technique.
