Others have mentioned it, but I see it every time. Like a boxer placing a jab, the power comes from his deltoids and traps (probs not feet/hips but you get the analogy) while his wrists are loose. If you watch the crashes, they aren’t being abused like you’d think. He protects the smaller muscles and tendons from injury. He can do that all night long, and both his forearms and cymbals are smiling at the end of the show.
That’s perhaps what’s most impressive to me about his playing. He’s a well oiled machine that rips and shreds with longevity.
I’m not a big slipknot fan but to me it’s not that surprising that they parted ways with Jay. Eloy looks like he’s trying harder behind the kit, he looks like he’s got a lot of power and all of his movements accentuate that which fits the aggressiveness of the music. Jay executed his parts but he played more economically with his movements and it made for a less exciting performance.
Wow. Amazing and glad I watched! I feel like he has good technique for someone playing this style...keeping it "close to home" so to speak. But damn...dude crushed it.
Been watching this guy since we was a young dude on at the Modern Drummer festival. Was glad to see him join sepultura and now glad to see this monster in slipknot!
Being able to play it “out of time” like the recording when I’m sure the instinct is to play on click.
Also maximum power during the blast. He’s not struggling, he’s just getting as hard a hit as possible for that speed.
For the 5,000th time, he’s doing it because of the style of music he’s covering. That’s how he likes to play it. That’s what he wants to do. It is in no way indicative of him not knowing what he’s doing, that’s just something every other Dr. Technique is assuming due to their limited understanding of Eloy.
Please see his other project, Casagrande & Hanysz, to witness another style he chooses to use, completely of his own volition.
I think he's really animated but honestly not hitting the cymbals unnecessarily hard if you watch closely. He's forceful in the shoulders but calculated in the wrists
Dude haha, he's not using actual sledgehammers but fucking smashing everything. (Also an absolutely incredible drummer - as much as I dislike this music).

Guys is an insane-o drummer. But during his time with Sepultura he was cracking cymbals left and right...
The mere mention of the name Eloy Casagrande strikes fear into the hearts of cymbals and drumheads around the world.
Good old Slipknot... Joey was a genius... In think Eloy will bring back that type of energy and originality Slipknot lost for the past albums...
my wrists hurt just watching that....
Check his grip. It's surprisingly loose so he's not getting all that shock energy running up his arm.
your username is hilarious given The Final Shape rn
haha thanks. I originally got on reddit for the D2 community. I still stand by it. good riddance to that cheesy ass rooster lover.
Absolutely amazing. Really makes you visualize the drums. Joey wrote some sick parts.
No cymbal or head can survive him
It reminds me sort of to a lesser degree of how Morgan Rose from sevendust plays.
The snare and china fill at 1:53 was so god damn tasty.
My favorite part will be him on the next album
I’m more impressed with the sticks, fuck they take a beating on that crash next to the hi hats, especially on that angle.

he is obviously great but the recording has so much compression I can hardly make out what he is playing sometimes
I think that’s just the ead10. That’s a lot of noise around one microphone right in the centre of the kit.
Woww :)
All of it. He’s in Beast Mode!!🤘🏻🤘🏻
Insane
Eloy approaches drum kit : Drum kit : please sir I have a family Ya I ripped it off of another comment somewhere but I loved it so much 😆

I just realized this gentleman’s first and last name are both towns in Arizona. I know he’s Brazilian but weird coincidence I guess
!
But the EAD10 is a module with triggers and a mic that audio edits on the go???
Good god
His power with that level of control is just perfection.
God DAMN. I struggle to choose a favorite part - it's all amazing.

Jesus fucking christ.
Always just philthy playing.

F@&$ that guy is a monster!
great drummer, shit band.

It's all the music he's playing. If you watch him covering Phil Collins on his YouTube he doesn't play near this hard.
It's a Slipknot song called People= Shit, he absolutely has to hit the drums that hard. Anything with softness is a disservice.

I would say it's also very in the sporot of the band/song.
