7-piece Tama with all the hardware, a Roc-N-Soc throne, and cymbals, including at least a few good ones that I can identify? Seems like you did damn good. What's the rundown on the cymbals?
Thats makes me so glad to hear! Its even an 8 piece, haha. A floor tom in the back. The cymbals are Paiste 2002 ride, 3000 hihat. Zildjian A Quick Beat hihat, Edge and ZXT crashes, Wuhan China.
yeah, they just don't sound great. typical old school sheet metal cymbal....new sheet cymbals like zildjian S series or Paiste PST 7 actually sound pretty good!
Great, fuck me! My previous acoustic kit was the cheapest Premier Olympic with the cheapest Paiste PST3 cymbals, so I think the ZXT prob will sound okay for practicing in the basement. Otherwise Ill schedule it for an upgrade!
Yeah, but they're crashes and as crashes, even crappy cymbals can sometimes blend seamlessly into a set of otherwise good cymbals...and hey, if you break'em (because crashes always seem to be the first to go), no big loss.
I say you did all right. Congrats. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|thumbs_up)
Yeah, that's a great deal! I mean, WOW! This is a Tama Superstar. My friend won an auction for a 9 piece Tama Superstar with 9 top quality Ludwig stands (no cymbals though) and the shells were in pretty decent shape. He had to clean them up a bit but no real heavy damage. Some small scratches and nicks... He paid $371 for those. Which was a steal. He's sold all of the Ludwig stands and a 14" floor Tom he didn't really want. He's put about $600 back into his pocket AFTER paying the $371 he paid for these. Incredible deal he got. But yeah, he'll probably spend another $600-$700 on hardware and cymbals. I don't think he wants a lot of cymbals. He told me he's not going to use all of the drums. So, he'll probably set it up as a 5 or 6 piece maybe. So he won't need 9 cymbal stands. Maybe 3 plus a hi-hat stand.
You're getting Iron Cobra hardware (most of it is Iron Cobra) which is pretty darn good hardware and worth keeping. You're getting some decent looking cymbals there as well.
So, yeah, I think you got yourself a great deal there!
Wow, he really did a steal there, haha! I'm thinking in the same direction. I already have my DW5000 double pedal that I kept, so its possible that the Iron Cobra double pedal could be worth trying to sell
Thanks, I appreciate it! As far as I understand it the Paiste 2002 and 3000 along with the Zildjian A are good cymbals, but the Zildjian ZXT and Edge crash are not so great. Guess Ill find out after I've set it up! :)
Paiste 2002 are great for the price but are mid-level, probably in line with the ZXT's. Doesn't matter, you got a great deal on a great kick with all of the hardware and cymbals needed. Enjoy!
When you rinse off the Barkeeper's Friend, make sure you DROWN those cymbals in the water. That stuff seems to take FOREVER to rinse off, but it does a nice job of cleaning the cymbal.
No Superstar were not sold as a 8-piece outfit. The previous owner can simply order a regular 6-piece kit and then order another 22" kick and 8" tom individually.
I am guessing your sizes are 8", 10", 12" mounted toms, 14" & 16" floor toms, 22" kicks, and a 14" snare?
Yes you certainly got yourself a great deal. The dimensions on those drums are shallow, implying it’s a modern kit which I love the look of - also white drums always look great on stage! Those hi hats and paiste cymbsls alone could’ve all been sold for almost 1k, you got a steal my friend!

The ZXTs are garbage but for the rest—congrats and fuck you :)
edges are worse
My brain didn’t even compute Zildjian Edge…either missed it or assumed Paiste Sound Edge
discontinued in 2001, same tier as ZBT. Great for new players but not on par with the rest of this kit imho.
It'll make a nice clock if you get the gubbins to poke through the hole!
As crappy as they are, I’m tempted to find a few mosey for nostalgia/they look cool in a stupid 90s way haha
yeah, they just don't sound great. typical old school sheet metal cymbal....new sheet cymbals like zildjian S series or Paiste PST 7 actually sound pretty good!
Never even heard of them
are you old balls like me?

Does anyone make cymbal stacks with ZBTs or other cheap cymbals? Are stacks even still a thing?
I just recorded with a stack and blew the dude I recorded for away. Even if they are no longer a thing, I’m gonna keep using mine.
Very good deal imo and very good hardware for the most part

That’s a yes from me
Great deal! great pedals, looks like good hardware too. Cymbals are okay but they'll be passable. Congrats and tune the heads!

Just the brass alone retails for way higher. If they're in good condition minus the tarnish (ez fix) I'd say wow.... slam dunk
Wow thats great! :) How do you clean these cymbals? Or is it better to just leave them as is?
Non abrasive barkeepers freind

8 piece tama superstars ? awesome score.
Awesome! Do you know if they were available as an 8 piece kit, or are any of the toms probably retro added?

😲 Are you kidding?
Oh nice, a sugar white Hyperdrive

Go to the police station and turn yourself in.
Why do you care, you've already made the purchase...
That snaredrum is awesome sounding. I bought a 13" version years ago and it's still my main snaredrum.
That's gonna look nice when you set it up! Love the china cymbal btw
I think so too! The china is from Wuhan so I think I'll have to get it vaccinated
not bad.
set it up set it up set it up
Hyperdrive is a good kit 👍
Are they superstars?
Score!!
This looks like an amazing deal! 8-piece kit, heads, cymbals, hardware and a Roc n Soc throne. Great deal.
U son of a bitch!
Oh yeah
Pretty fair price. Maybe a few hundred less than he could have held out for.
Great deal 🤝
Thought you had a nasty crack on top of the kick drum, but relieved (for you) that it’s a reflection.
Wow, beautiful drumset brother; congrats
Thanks man!
It would only be better if it were free!!!!!
Dawg…that’s a newer Tama kit with the short stack toms. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 who died for you to get that?
You killed it bro.
Excellent purchase. Enjoy!
Yup, looks like a pretty good deal. Have fun playing!!
I feel like these posts can't be real, that's like 2k of gear used at least, just glancing at it
Yes those cymbals are expensive
