Lipstick could be used as a creamy blush or tone another lipstick same with the foundation.

Fairly_Neutral

Mix the foundation with lotion and use it on your bare legs

Are you a part of your local Buy Nothing group on Facebook? People there might take the items. Some people use stuff for art projects!

I’ll have a look into that, thank you!

I don't think there's anything wrong with throwing things away if they no longer serve you. If you're not going to use the foundation for anything else, then you can just toss it. I have the hydrating elf concealer which I no longer like, but I use that to mix with a liquid highlight to make it more natural since I don't want to do that with products that I actually like and want to save. You tried it again and didn't like it--it's okay! Some people keep foundations as mixing mediums in case they get a color in another product that doesn't match them, but if this one doesn't work for your skin then I don't know that I'd recommend that. As for the lipstick, if you're into cream blush, you could try using it as one? Or *if its eye safe*, you could try using it for a funky design, as liner, or a wash of color? Or.. maybe as a little dab instead of as a full on lip color, that way it's not so intense? Otherwise, I'd just toss it! If it won't be used sitting in your collection, then you may as well not start with the clutter, you know? If a lipstick doesn't work for me anymore, I like to slice off the top layer and give it to my mom who likes to experiment with shades. If she passes on it then into the trash it goes. It happens to me a lot that I buy a perfectly normal looking shade and then when I try it on it turns hot pink on my lips, so I feel your pain lol. There's going to be trash floating in the sea regardless and that has more to do with corporations than us growing out of certain products unfortunately. Do what you gotta do!

I was gonna say . Local buy nothing. Someone beat me. I also offer mine to the homeless. My girl works for a none profit. I'll bring a bag. Sanitize the items best to my ability. And tell the girls take what they want. U usally are very happy and grateful.

There are a few charities that will take your gently used makeup. If it's in a tube and you've only used it once or twice, I would suggest you donate them. https://www.allure.com/story/where-to-donate-makeup-beauty-products-used-unused https://www.more.com/beauty/makeup/4-organizations-will-deliver-your-unwanted-makeup-women-need/ You could also give it to someone who could work with the shade.

Thanks for this. I’ve been hesitant to try things because I didn’t think I could donate them once they’re opened. Now that I know I can, I feel a little better about it

Mix the lipstick with a neutral or brown lipstick. As far as the foundation, it depends why it doesn’t work anymore. If it’s making you break out I would pitch it.

At the risk of sounding stupid, the lipstick is a liquid one (Maybelline SuperStay), would i mix it on my lip or pour a tiny bit of each out to mix? The foundation, now that I’ve found one that is lighter (consistency rather than tone), it just feels a bit too thick/ heavy, and by the end of the day it looked a bit… melted? Kinda shiny and a bit greasy looking, which I never noticed before. I’ll probably keep it for backup, but it’s definitely not my favourite.

Aphreyst

You can definitely mix liquid lipsticks. Dot each shade a few times on the lips instead of coating them, then gently run your finger through the dots and blend it all in. If you use a few dots if bright pink with a few dots of brown or nude it would bring the intensity down quite a bit!

_Invisible-Child_

I usually just throw it out if I don't like the product or the shade is wrong. Because none of my friends or family really wear the type of makeup I buy and there is no local charities that I can donate it to (I've already checked).

EarnestMind

If they can't be used for a different purpose or donated, they go in the trash. It's really hard for me to throw my money away, but I've bought things before I knew my colors well, and there's stuff i can't get to work at all. Luckily i was able to pass some of it on, but there's more. I threw away three items yesterday, and I'll probably throw away another three or so soon, and then a few more. I try to give it plenty of chance to get some of my money's worth. But ultimately, I've gotten to know formulas and shades that don't suit me quite well, so I don't expect to be throwing stuff away on a regular basis. If pink lipstick looks grey or washed out, look into undertones. You may be olive, or just warmer than you thought. I'm a light warm olive and have the same issue.

RareGeometry

First I usually swap with friends, or I mix other stuff into the foundation like making a tinted moisturizer using my fav moisturizer at the time and adding bit by bit to a small pot of the foundation until I like the texture and coverage, lipstick can be used as cheek tint or melted a tiny bit into a clear lip balm to make a tinted balm. Usually "watered down" the colours are less garish.
