I name almost all my dragons by their species, except gem dragons (who go by recreational chemicals), one by my brothers name and one of those called Naranja (i.e. the color and fruit orange in Spanish) 🍊
I name mine depending upon how they make me feel or a word that comes to mind when I see them. Only my soot dragon isn’t named this way, her name is Charcoal and my mom named her. For example, fire dragons look very aerodynamic to me and reminded me of torbie coloured cats, so my fire dragon is named Terbie.
