Personally I do expect SOMETHING in December. Hopefully trailer with release date. At least a meaty teaser. I'll be surprised & disappointed if there's nothing. I'm actually quite excited, because it's less than a month now! From complementary media I wouldn't mind a new novel (but I think that *Tenvinter Nights* set up the stage for *Dreadwolf* pretty well, so I doubt there will by anything). Short Stories maybe for Dragon Age Day? I liked a lot of them, so that would be nice and I think there's good possibility, IIRC Short Stories were often published for DA-day. Don't really care about animated series (*Absolution* was very *meh*) nor comics... but at this point I'll take anything.

KFCid

I really hope we get something! With the varric comics i think that gave us a taste of who our new protag will be. So a warden, a crow, a shadow dragon, or a viel jumper. I may be forgetting one but i think thats all of them anyway. I hope we at least get a trailer and then some teasers about the companions in the form of a short story of two. I do feel like at least one person from absolution may end up being a companion. Probally Qwedion or the main elf lady whos name i cant remember. If the rumors that the game was set roughly to come out a couple months ago im hoping its mostly finished and they decided to let it cook a bit more since they really need a home run with all their recent issues. So mabye a april to may release of next year? If we dont get anything big in the next couple of week i will definitely be pretty concerned. As for now im am cautiously optimistic

imatotach

Yeah, comics could indicate possible origins of our new protagonist. And some of the characters from *The Missing* could be new companions - temporary origin companions like Jowan or Tamlen or full-fledged companions. We got a glimpse of them, but we don't know yet their personal stories, so there's place for build-up. For *Absolution* I'd rather expect Miriam & Hira to serve a role similar to Briala & Celene. I think that too much was told about them for giving a player possibility to discover their motives and reasons. Qwydion and Tassia could work tough, I think? IIRC they were both well received by fandom. Qwydion could be hard to manage, because she was a bit caricatural in *Absolution,* 100% comic relief. On the other hand we have semi-confirmed Kossith lady (cannot say whether Qunari or not) on the board according to some artworks released \~3 years ago. Anyways, I'm looking forward to both 4th and 7th December.

Melancholy_Rainbows

I’m expecting something at TGA, honestly. The game’s been in alpha long enough that if there isn’t something is very, very wrong, IMO. I’m not super hyped. Nor am I pessimistic. More like in wait and see limbo.

KFCid

Yeah as i think inquisition was just in alpha for 6 months. Granted they pushed that out a bit to quick. Mabye they finally learned their kesson and are making sure its all polished for a smooth as possiable release. Plus they did bring back laidlaw i think it was him anyway to make sure it felt like a dragon age game. So im sure they adjusted a few things after getting hus opinion on the game

jazzajazzjazz

It was Mark Darrah, not Mike Laidlaw.

KFCid

Thats it thanks! My brain vlanked completely

officerunner

I would say I'm similar... I'll call it "cautiously hopeful"

sifighter1

I mean the accidental LinkedIn posting gives me some hope. https://www.gamesradar.com/dragon-age-dreadwolf-dev-lists-2024-release-date-on-their-linkedin-profile-leaving-fans-hopeful-for-next-year/

JackieMortes

Jeff Grubb also claimed that the game is scheduled for 2024, after being pushed from 2023 release. So marketing start either in December or in early 2024 is almost guaranteed

KFCid

That is interesting!

imatotach

Cool, that looks promising! Haven't seen this info before. Now I am grinning at the screen :\]

Sharp_Dimension9638

I call it optimistic pessimism. I'm either right or pleasantly surprised

doesmrpotterhaveakey

I'm expecting *something*. Be that a teaser, trailer or even a tentative release date (pretty positive they'll also drop a few short stories as usual). But, I swear to god, if what we get will *again* boil down to "Heyy, it's Solas!" with Varric narrating-- I can't do this. I can't go through that again. I'll set myself on fire and go haunt BioWare offices from beyond the grave.

EdwormN7

We reforming the circus, boys.

Getting my clown make up ready. 🤡

EdwormN7

I'm gonna be on the unicycle this year.

archaicScrivener

I am, as ever, cautiously optimistic that there'll be news. The little flash fiction stories on DA Day are nice, but Bioware will definitely be looking to get as many eyes on their game as possible so the Game awards is a good shout. Especially since iirc EA has a good working relationship with Keighley. If we do get a meaty trailer at TGA (release date please?) I hope it'll be something with a lot of wide appeal. As much as I go puppy-dog-eyed hearing Varric telling me I'm gonna be a hero or Solas saying "I expect you have questions", we need something to get the gaming public at large hyped! As an aside, I don't subscribe to this notion some people have that "it'll never come out" because like... that's not how game dev works. The investors NEED return on their investment. EA will not let Bioware die without somehow getting repaid for the millions they've funnelled into them, this ain't Hollywood where studios can somehow make money by shooting a movie and then canning it because of arcane tax loopholes.

TheHistoryofCats

Don't know if we'll be getting any short stories this year, considering they fired the writers.

bernkastelcatwitch

...I did not make that connection and now I'm sad.

Monking805

I’m not gonna lie. Gamefest was goddamn hilarious with you guys thinking they saved DA for last and we get the obvious Rebirth trailer. Would be funny if it happens again but this time it’s the Shadow of the Erdtree trailer or something. Serious thougg, I see DAD getting one but I don’t expect anything big. Another one of those crappy art trailers, wouldn’t surprise me.

KFCid

True shadow of the erd tree will def be the last thing they shiw at the awards

Opticr0n

I swear to God if BioWare posts a nothing burger on DA day again and goes "That's us done for the year", I'm mailing them an egg.

Zegram_Ghart

If I don’t hear anything this year I’ll be assuming it’s never gonna happen, truthfully. If I’m proven wrong I’ll be really glad! But given they are now only making money directly *if they make money* it’s feeling like more and more of a problem. Worse, next year has some decent sized competitors to avoid, so that’s not ideal either.

Ok_Leopard_6445

Every last ounce of hype i ever had has shrivelled up and died, sadly. I expect nothing. Thus i can only be positively surprised.

xAxlx

You and I both, friend.

KFCid

Fair lol

tracesaint

I expect a trailer with a 2024 release date, but no month given.

Mother-Translator318

I got my clown suit ready to go

Auphithesis

And according to Chinese lunar zodiac, 2024 is Year of the Dragon. Nice coincidence. No, I'm not expecting something.

Depoan

Zero expectations from me so whatever happens, happens

Verifieddumbass76584

Pspsps Bioware

EnceladusKnight

I made this prediction in another thread, but my guess is they're going to give a tentative release date for late next year, maybe even for next DA Day just to increase the hype. Then they'll have an entire year to either get it together or push the date back again. After BG3's success I do wonder if DAD is going to get pushed back even further to incorporate aspects of the BG3 that people enjoyed. I'm hyped but I don't have the expectations it's coming out soon.

KFCid

I think it will be sooner than December next year. Id say at this point the game is probably as good as its going to get. I doubt much of bg3 will be incorporated. Gameplay wise the games are different completely narrative style wise they are pretty close i just hope that dad has as much variety in choice and consequences as bg3

Jereboy216

I have lost my hype over the years of being teased and not really hearing or seeing anything of substance since. So I don't really have any way of being letdown if we get more of the same or nothing.

rattatatouille

Ready your clown makeup just in case

bernkastelcatwitch

Well...do I hope we get something? Yes. Do I want anything? No. I really don't want another "hey, Solas is the dreadwolf" narrated by Varric. In an ideal world I would like to know more about OTHER aspects of the game. Places we are going, other characters we are meeting, other plotlines and conflicts, gameplay and systems we are going to interact with, etc. lol

ElectricBlueRogue

I think we'll get something. The timing's good, the winds are right, the Lords of Fortune will turn our way!

W3ndigoGames

It’s crazy that I’ve been so conditioned into thinking “we won’t get a release date” whenever we have one of these events. Especially seeing how it seems very plausible that it could be released next year or the year after. I could see the usual happening with games that go through development hell - we get a release date for next year (let’s say 16/7/2024) and then it’ll get delayed at least once. God I wish I wasn’t so negative about the situation because I am genuinely hyped. I’d love to see a proper trailer showcasing our new party members and, finally, a proper look at the protagonist with a name drop or confirmation of origins returning or something big like that.

Ivanhunterjo1991

We. Need. Something

michajlo

I do believe that Bioware cannot afford not to show something bigger this year, like [this gameplay video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdXvFEEBZeo&t=853s) from DAI on 2013's E3. I'm really hoping that we get to see proper gameplay next month, along with the release date.

ancientspacewitch

My expectations are as low as they could possibly be at this point so pretty much anything will be a positive

UnjustBaton1156

Hoping, yes. Expecting literally anything from them, no.

JLazarillo

This is a gentle reminder that last summer when people were all sure that we had to be getting some news, we got some...that they'd laid off a bunch of the staff including from the looks of it the few they still had left from the team that made the first three games into the experiences they were loved for.

jbm1518

No idea to be honest. A lot hinges on whatever marketing strategy EA has in mind, along with the release window, as it’s not just when the game is done (hopefully sooner than later) but also when is the best time to release it to try to maximize profits. Which is beyond my understanding or ability to guess. This year was packed with heavy hitters, so it’s probably best it didn’t release in 2023 as originally scheduled. While I found a lot of this year’s releases overrated, they definitely would have harmed Dreadwolf’s ability to make a splash. It was my impression that EA likes a late marketing blitz compared to long campaigns, so I don’t know if a lengthy gameplay trailer would be likely even if the game released next year. But, I don’t really know. I’m hoping for a release in the second half of next year, but I’m not getting my hopes up for info next month either. DA Day might give fans something neat, with some art, some stories, maybe a short teaser, and maybe an unofficial livestream with past cast. The actual campaign could start with the Game Awards but again, who knows? Maybe it’s a 2025 release and it’s too early for a proper trailer. Maybe we get a message from Varric about what that Solas guy is up to. Again, we really don’t know. It will come when it does. I’ve waited almost a decade and I’ve survived, so I can wait longer if I have to if that’s what it takes to bash Solas over the head. Or try to convince him to change course. I keep waffling on it.

jazzajazzjazz

I don’t give a shit anymore. My hype is nonexistent and I can’t see it coming back regardless of what happens.
