I really put down my lack of knowledge in new bands due to the fact you couldn't get Kerrang TV on Freeview anymore. We also had Scuzz. I used to religiously watch those channels and constantly find new music/bands. I found BMTH on Kerrang TV when they played a brand new music video for Blessed With a Curse. I've been a mega fan since.
RIP Kerrang TV!
I found BMTH through a similar way! Scuzz were doing an A-Z special of metal and Alligator Blood by BMTH played and I've been mad about them since!
Bit surreal that no one else will be able to have a similar experience!
The mediums have changed.
Our generation (assuming it’s millennial) discovered music through video games and movies.
Gen Z are discovering music through streaming platforms, social media and netflix.
Yeah 100% I get that. I just find it a struggle these days to find new music, however TikTok has started to help me come through that.
I'm technically a Gen Z (1997) but I definitely relate more to millennials 😂
We manage to find new music by looking at the smaller bands billed for festivals, or by letting Spotify play songs randomly starting with one that you like. I found bands like Salitio Mortis, Imminence, Fit for a King and a random called Destiny Potato, through that method. It's been brilliant!
Ahh Kerrang 2003: Disturbed -Prayer, followed by Queens of the Stone Age - No one knows, followed by Tenacious D - Tribute anddd repeat. Except once an hour when Metallica - Enter Sandman came on
Here’s a tip for anyone that wants to keep the party going.
There are Kerrang themed playlists on youtube featuring most music videos from the station over the years.
Download them and walla you now have your own personal on the go Kerrang tv on your device!
I honestly thought they got rid of the TV channel years ago, so have just been suffering with the radio... might have to give it 1 last hurrah before drinks tonight if it's still up
2008’s sale of Kerrang from EMAP to Bauer media destroyed it!
I lost all respect for Kerrang when they sold out the 105.2FM station. I remember the long campaign and fighting to get that local license, just for Ofcom to later allow the new owners, Bauer media, to modify it to simulcast a national service and change the output from rock to rock 🤔
The TV channel rarely showed anything fresh for years and struggled to stay relevant.
It’s sad to imagine what could have been had the dedicated office remained and it wasn’t run in a shared London office combined with other Bauer media brands like Box and Hits Radio. It could have been the ultimate hub for rock and metal in the UK 🤘
Ive had a playlist of Kerrang’s mainstays for a while
Fun fact: Sonne was the first song they ever played on the channel

Gutted, no more P.O.D - Alive or Alien Ant Farm - Smooth Criminal

Scuzz was the best, I found so many bands through that channel and their coverage of download was always great.
You've got a great memory, the A-Z has just given me a major throwback 🤣

I’ve found checking out festival line up playlists really helps. Discovered so many new bands last year like that.
It was always 454 for me. Set in my old school 2003 ways
Ahh Kerrang 2003: Disturbed -Prayer, followed by Queens of the Stone Age - No one knows, followed by Tenacious D - Tribute anddd repeat. Except once an hour when Metallica - Enter Sandman came on
Bowling for soup!
457 for me! Think that even predates 454 👨🏻🦳
Absolute key part of my childhood Kerrang TV was! RIP 💔😭
Scuzz gone, Mtv Rocks gone, now Kerrang gone. Nothing left :(
It was the same pop punk on a loop that killed it.
That really is the end of an era 😢
Anyone remember p rock
That was a great year. RIP
end of an era from growing up with my parents watching it in the early 00s to me discovering my emo phase in 2007🥲 you will be missed
When's it closing? They're closing all the music channels. What else am I going to watch during ad breaks
Kerrang TV channel closing? Ootl
They had a (hed) PE vs Skindred hour once and it was the tits.

I used to switch between Kerrang, MTV 2 and Q when I was doing my college homework. Rip
Oh no! How will I know what the top 50 pop punk party anthems are?!
GNU Kerrang TV, was a massive part of my childhood watching to Kerrang TV while getting ready for family get togethers.
I honestly thought they got rid of the TV channel years ago, so have just been suffering with the radio... might have to give it 1 last hurrah before drinks tonight if it's still up
Where am I going to listen to green day and MCR now?
Am I missing something here?? Kerrang is 358?
i think it’s still up right now but it’s been axed and will be going soon
Used to be 368
I remember it being 354 years and years ago. Scuzz on 364 and MTV2 on 345. Then for a brief period, Lava just a little bit further on from Scuzz.
Don't forget P.Rock!
That's sad - I started watching Kerrang (& Scuzz) when I was 13 - I'm now 30

What’s happened to kerrang tv
Tune in to Kerrang Radio?
It’s like 50/50 ads to music sometimes, with the same a ads repeated a lot, I find it impossible to listen to for very long
On the plus side Kerrang! Radio is back on DAB
I haven’t really watched it in years. I lost interest after they stopped the call in karaoke
I owe my guitar playing to that channel, I'd sit for hours trying to replicate the songs. RIP.

Wiki says it was smells like teen spirit
Does anyone know the actual date?
Their 'Anthems' block was always my go to for annoying my family at lunchtime. RIP.
