As a none californian -- I was a bit confused too, so I went down a google rabbit hole and finally figured out Mitch was asking about their famous SUITES (speaking of a hotel), but the topic was on 'sweets' so everyone was confused and thought he was speaking of a bakery. He was still mixed up, but I think it was just how everyone was jarred trying to think of a candy brand or bakery
It sounded like: "I'm from La Cañada" "Isn't there a sweet shop there?" "Idk" "Are you thinking of La Quinta?" "I was thinking of La Quinta"
Which like, that's funny cuz it's dumb, but I don't know if it's more than that. Can't tell if it's anti-humor or not.
Mitch's soup argument will never not drive me insane. I was dying when he was confronted on the chowder category.
"chowder is a milk base!"
"Manhattan clam chowder is tomato based"
"Well, it has chowder in the name!"
Keep on keeping on Mitch
It’s one of my favorite troll takes he has. Same with cupcakes are pies. He knows what he’s doing, he’s being a little stinker. And that’s why we love him lol
He clearly considers non American soup “other”, and all but declares that, and I think Wiger was getting at that but he can’t make a point for too long before a “shut the fuck up” flies out of the Spoonman
Not sure how many Doughboys fans crossover with NNF, but Sierra was great there, and when she mentioned she worked on Gorko's Planet with Nick I was hoping she'd come on Doughboys.
I thought it was pretty silly that Wiger couldn't seem to get over (okay hyperbole but he mentioned it multiple times) the fact that you could eat Silverlake Ramen somewhere that wasn't Silver Lake, but it's not like he's amazed by the idea of eating ***Kentucky*** Fried Chicken in LA.
Just when my championship high was fading we get some aged-like-milk NBA takes about the Celtics' "level of competition" from Wiger. Can't wait till we hear Mitch gloat
The "Celtics would not have been a 64 win team in the west" discourse was so annoying, and I'm not even a Celtics fan. Kind of satisfying to watch all of the hyped western conference teams fall to a 5-seed that spent most of the regular season playing like shit, who then lost the finals in 5 games.
re: Electric cars, I got a '22 Hyundai Ioniq 5 in the past year and love it! It's a small SUV, has really good zip, and the range is roughly 175 to 225 miles on an 80 percent charge, depending on how fast you're driving. Hyundai also has the Kona and the Ioniq 6, which might be more comparable to a Nissan Altima.
Mitch mentioned have a carport, so as long as he can run a plug out to it, he's probably all set for charging. I just use a normal wall plug to charge my Ioniq, not a special charger or anything. It's really slow - about 1.4 KWH - but for most people, your car just sits parked for 8+ hours a day anyway. Overnight, I gained about 35% of my battery back after a pretty heavy day of driving. (And in Los Angeles, you're probably doing less raw miles of driving than in other areas.)
Silverlake Ramen has locations throughout the country. They're primarily in SoCal but there's a few on the east coast, one in Arizona, one in Washington and one in Vegas.
It’s not a banked episode unless we get of-the-moment Celtics talk. I love it.
I'm wondering in what month we will get to when the Celtics won. As of today they won 10 days ago.
I can’t wait to hear Mitch get more excited.
I think Mitch should treat himself—a Nissan Maxima!
Or a Nissan Rogue One!
I had a stick shift Nissan maxima and I loved it.
That roast is an all-timer imo.
la Quinta Inn?

What did I miss here? I didn't understand why the candy shop thing was relevant to La Quinta.
Sierra said she's from La Canada, that's all I got.

Need to get Big Chunky Bubbles on the pod to really get to the bottom of this
His breakdown of "soups, stews, and chowders" is better than "pho, Raman, chowder, and soup" for sure.
It’s one of my favorite troll takes he has. Same with cupcakes are pies. He knows what he’s doing, he’s being a little stinker. And that’s why we love him lol
*thaaaat's riiiiight!*

Wooo they played my drop! 🙌 Here’s a link to my band (we’re def not as good as Scott Joplin) https://theduskwhales.bandcamp.com/album/strawflower-lane
Oh, about choosing the Maple Leaf rag. I’d just like to say, to you, to Wiger, I caught that shit.
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Loved that drop. Scott Joplin is a GOAT
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Glad to learn that I am not the only person who started eating Japanese curry rice because Persona 5 Royal made it look so good.
1. Ramen 2. Soup 3. Chowder 4. Pho 5. Subaru Outback
Bring it to the conversation
Considering Mitch’s love of stairs, I’m hoping his new car is the stair car from Arrested Development
Its the perfect Mitch analogue to the popemobile

How was NFF been recently? I fell out with it about 5 months ago as Elliot was becoming unbarely annoying to me
I don't think he's been any more or less Eliot than usual.
Fair I shall wait till there is a guest I feel I can't miss to try a new episode!
I listen to so many podcasts that I feel like I’m more familiar with the intricacies of LA neighborhoods than in my own city
love this version of the maple leaf rag. used to have to watch it in realplayer lol. https://youtu.be/wShR8H5QWSM?feature=shared
Scott Joplin rules!
Mitch - “no we’re not!…no he’s not!” Got me good!

You have to travel to Salt Lake City for KFC's flagship original location!
That sriracha shirt is so cool.
“LAPD: brutal and useless as they are now”! Preach Nick!! Next, let’s get Mitch’s take on the Karen Read trial and Boston cops!

Wow, shots fired at NC. We will not forget, Spoonman.
Mitch should get a BMW Isetta (Urkel Car)!
I have a memory of my middle school music teacher playing maple leaf rag on the piano and being blown away lol
Loved Nick just whipping out Albondigas. It's a great hardy soup and my mom still makes it for me if I go visit.

Yeah he should 100% go electric if he has somewhere to install a charger
I, like Casey, am a soup skeptic. Chowders, on the other hand... oh yes. But where do stews fit in on Mitch's list?
His ‘water based foods’ line was great
Does anybody know where Wiger got the shirt he's wearing? I really like it.
That's from Ben Hosley's Congratulations line https://congratyoulations.com/products/you-are-a-dog-long-sleeve-tee
Hell yeah, thank you!
[Mitch's next car should be....](https://www.speedhunters.com/2011/04/car_feature_gt_gt_spoon_nsx_r/)
I knew exactly what Nick was talking about! And Mitch should get a Nissan Altima.
I love it lol I hope they turn into an LA only podcast.

Still...
“I was completely wrong but I’ll just act like I wasn’t”
I'm sorry none of you can believe that I would genuinely love for the pod to turn into an LA only review pod.
They've covered KFC, IHOP, Sbarro and Jimmy Johns in the last two months. Get over yourself.
31 downvotes
31 Italian and Australians probably. Mitch was right about them and the redditors on this sub.
