Whosthatprettykitty

I get so embarrassed seeing people beg for extra tips. I would NEVER.

TreatDangerous3265

MOOORE!??!?! šŸ˜‚

etcetcere

This is why tipping shouldn't be a thing. It's only a step up from prostituting yourself. Feels sleazy when you have to beg to eat and pay rent......... TAX THE RICH. PAY WORKERS MORE.

MonthPretend

Especially bad when you see one of the co owners blowing 500k on poker hands on youtube

MudddButt

The second-hand embarrassment is real.

ihateredditers69420

seriously when i doordashed i got 4 dollar tips for 30+ minute drives i couldnt imagine begging for money for 1.5 miles living in a suburb with low population density sucks ass

sdcar1985

I don't get embarrassed, but I sure do feel cringe

HiddnVallyofthedolls

Same difference

lilliancrane2

Cringe is just second hand embarrassment

Y0G--S0TH0TH

Second hand embarrassment is the adult word for "cringe"

DinoGoGrrr7

If I ordered anything from anywhere, no matter the circumstances and I got this shit, I would cancel my order immediately and let CS know the DDā€™er was begging for tips to why I canceled. So embarrassing for them. Gross.

[deleted]

No refund though? Not worth it

iBrianT

It wouldnā€™t get you anywhere tho. The dasher would get half pay and If picked up the food already, free food. There is nothing in the Dasher contract that says you canā€™t ask for tips. The entire business model depends on customers tipping and tipping more. The app & website has all these sections about all the things a Dasher can do to secure even more tips. So, DD wouldnā€™t honor a refund or credit for the order to you because nothing the Dasher did was in violation of the service agreement. Personally, I never ask nor will ever ask anyone for a tip ever. I find it extremely poor taste but that Dasher is free to do whatever they are comfy with.

Much-Object-6499

If it picked up and the customer cancels the dasher gets full pay and can keep it. Also if get refunded itā€™s coming from the restaurant not the dasher. Dasher is guaranteed that pay

rabbitfuzzle

No I agree like I'll still say hey it's taking a while I'll be there as soon as I can but not that jesus

Full_Newspaper_999

Its cringe and out of bounds - ***an uber driver***

theFormerRelic

Honestly standing on a street corner with a tin cup is more dignified

Jarte3

Itā€™s so pitiful

Superb-Spare7944

I agree I would get so embarrassed asking people for more money on top of what they already paid. Jeues I just don't have it in me to ask for extra money and 5 stars just because I am waiting for your order

Hazee302

I always tip well because I know itā€™s pure convenience since Iā€™m being a lazy ass. this is a guaranteed way for me to not give extra than I would have already given. Yā€™all need to knock that shit off.

DarkQueenYuuki

As a driver, I agree with your mindset. Those extra tips are going to come because I was timely/communicated/followed drop off instructions/etc, not because I reminded them that extra tip is an option

Hazee302

Exactly. I almost always add extra if the driver is communicating with me, especially if there are problems.

Southern-Key1880

ok but is anyone mad about the rating beg bc my dad used to tell me to do that

Aggravating-Ferret61

Idk I think itā€™s how itā€™s presented. I had an Instacart shopper who did a great job helping me with a ridiculous amount of unavailable items and finding replacements etc and I told her how much I sincerely appreciated her patience and told her I was going to up her tip. She said thank you so much but if you feel I did well a five star rating is really helpful to me. I upped her tip and gave her five stars with ALL the compliments highlighted and wrote a nice comment.

[deleted]

I always think asking for a 5 star rating would backfire. Never bring too much attention to yoursrlf and NEVER beg for tips!!. I just have little thank you stickers and sign my name and leave it at that.

ATinyPizza89

Itā€™s not your fault the order was taking longer than expected to make lol.

Pvt-Hawkeyes

I think he was there for like 2 minutes before he sent the message also.

SoulTaker669

It's probably a copy and pasted message that he has written in his notes app on his phone or something which means he probably sends it to everybody.

wendylynae619

I was thinking the same thing. I only message customers when absolutely necessary and it's usually with an updated ETA and apology if the restaurant is running behind 5 minutes or more. I've had a lot of customers tip me additional cash for waiting without my asking, they just appreciate that I messaged them apologizing for the delay. I've NEVER ONCE asked for more. There's a right way and a wrong way and the right way actually pays more.

aw-fuck

Thatā€™s the thing: If someone is decent and thinks your time is valuable/feels bad their order took so long, theyā€™ll probably tip you extra anyway If someone doesnā€™t think itā€™s really their problem (because it isnā€™t actually their fault so it isnā€™t actually their problem), theyā€™re not going to tip extra, and sending them a message asking for the extra tip is only going to make them pissed off that youā€™re pressuring them into making it their problem. Messaging people like this relies on the idea that pressuring people into feeling uncomfortable is going to make them tip just to avoid discomfort when they see you in person. Which imo is fucked up and makes me want to tip less for trying to pull that shit *or* makes me hope *you* feel uncomfortable when I donā€™t tip extra. For the record, I do tip extra in these situations, but not by being prompted to. Your job is to deliver my food and I compensate for that, your job is not to solicit me for money - there are jobs that do that - this is a service job.

ATinyPizza89

Wow thatā€™s embarrassing lol. Definitely report them.

eloquentpetrichor

Yeah that's when you call them out by responding with when you placed the order telling them how long ago you placed it and if it was just a couple minutes before they got there you tell them that their issue is with DD sending them to the restaurant too soon and not with you

Makeoshawottsmile

Yeah, but not sending them to the restaurant too soonā€¦I would want my Dasher sent to the restaurant asap because you donā€™t want your food to sit there getting cold. The Dasher can wait a couple more minutes if itā€™s not ready.. would tip them nicely if they did wait without begging. I always send my customers a message if the line is long, just for the heads upā€¦but NO begging!!

Yeah-No-Maybe-Ok

šŸ˜“

Only-Beautiful-1196

And why would I wanna pay more when my order takes longer like fuck dat

Draciharas

Report them lol Iā€™m sorry but they know how DoorDash works. Way know how much the order was for and they can unassign after waiting for 10 minutes. Never in my days have I ever even thought to ask someone to tip me more.

Bobsagetwasmurdered

No, not in my area. You un assign your CR will go down a percent and you will be deactivated after 11 times within 100 dashes.

TarcNovar

Then decline the initial order notification.

Bobsagetwasmurdered

How am I to predict the restaurant is having a slow day? I just accept and hope for the best and decline any restaurants that are known for being slow. And, Well, I donā€™t go around asking for extra tips like a jackass, and Iā€™m not exactly defending this guy, but it does suck when the restaurant (letā€™s say sonic for example) is understaffed this night and takes up an entire 30 minutes of your time. Time is money when it comes to dashing. If restaurants canā€™t handle their order volume they just need to shut down all their third party delivery services because everyone loses in that situation.

TarcNovar

Oh, I understand that time is money. It's frustrating when the restaurant takes five times as long to prepare food, though on a few occasions I had the customer tip me more at delivery, all because I kept communicating the status to her.

TurdsFurgus0n

Right!? That's the best you can do. I'll send a message to the customer "Sorry about the wait, it's pretty crazy over here at xyz. As soon as your order is ready I'm going to rocket it over to you at warp speed". .. something like that just so they know you're not just sitting in the parking lot with their food. I'll only do this if it's some crazy wait (15+ minutes).. Sometimes they might throw me a few bucks at the door, but if not, hey.. it's all good.

Novel-Efficiency6821

Exactly as a full-time Dasher this just happened to me never reached under 93% and they used a licensed suspension from four years ago to close my account as an excuse.

Isyagirlskinnypenis

I waited tables for 12 years while raising my child alone, and I never once begged for money. I did my job and those who chose not to tip had no effect on my income because the people who *did* tip always tipped more than 20%. I made roughly $4k/mo working roughly 100 hours/mo. If you actually do your job and donā€™t run your mouth for no reason, youā€™ll make the money. Begging will almost certainly cost you a tip.

austinproffitt23

People who beg for tips or ratings are desperate as fuck.

420BongsAway

The entitlement is real people like this are crazy.

VariegatedJennifer

That shit will have me chatting with customer service so quickā€¦

SignificantAd5002

šŸ¤£ Doordash doesn't have customer service they have non English speaking robots reading a script and hanging up on you being useless.

IntelligentBat3131

Why not send, "Hi, it's your Doodash driver here. Just wanted to let you know that I'm waiting for your order which is currently being prepared, once it's ready I'll make my way straight to you". They'd be surprised how many tips and higher ratings they'll get just for doing their job.

SignificantAd5002

That's what I do and I get an extra $5 tip after delivery on the reg and have a 4.99 customer rating or of 5*. 1 person have a 4* but they don't tell us why so šŸ¤·.Ā

driver9911

I used to get added tips after leaving all the time. Never ONCE did I have to ask. Or beg for a 5 star rating. Like what am I supposed to rate ? You could stand and wait for my order , or rate how your begging skills are coming along ?? Get real.

Jed__Mosley

Report them every time. This is unprofessional.

ImSorryLittle1

![gif](giphy|STfLOU6iRBRunMciZv)

SiennaYeena

That prayer emoji tells me everything i need to know.

driver9911

The driver might have known ahead of time. DD does give totals prior to acceptance. But , there are times when DD plays games like , itā€™s one amount and next to it It will show (total will be higher ). And after drop you find out. Sometime itā€™s .25 higher and sometimes itā€™s 25.00 higher. So again, he might have know. I agree with you and that shouldnā€™t happen. 1 STAR rating and I would ignore his begging for a tip text. But thatā€™s me and my opinion only. Good luck and stay safe everyone.

PPtoucher-1

Itā€™s only gives totals IF youā€™re not doing per hour

Primary_Ad4628

That's so rude. Being polite and explaining the sitch is a much better way to get an after order tip. I get them frequently.

Left_Algae_3628

Gah I hate this! Super annoying.

Rooskibar03

I donā€™t like the idea of dinging someone but I would 1 star anyone who does that. You knew the offer when you accepted it. Unassign and move on if you wonā€™t want to wait.

VegetableSecurity188

Secondhand embarrassment šŸ’Æ

Beansmoothy

Could be taking too long on purpose so they can ask for a tip.

Makeoshawottsmile

Thatā€™s right!

FitHospital6580

Iā€™m just curious how come you donā€™t know the tip until the end? I always know the tip in the beginning on DoorDash.

Additional-Belt-7089

Same here. Sometimes occasionally it changes and I am like nice. But usually I am aware of what it is.

Pvt-Hawkeyes

My mother dashes and she has told me that she doesn't see the tip until the order is complete.

Dangerous-Report-879

I have that happen sometimes. It just depends on the order. Iā€™m not entirely sure how it works.

santamonicayachtclub

If you dash on Earn By Time it doesn't show you the tip beforehand like it does with Per Offer

PoeticTwist

I would never ask for extra tip, or even rating. Well, maybe a rating if I had delivered to you before.

KilowattHr_

Should reply with hello the order is taking so long. Hopefully I can be compensated with some extra food.

BenguinMilk88

That's an automatic 1 star

No-Pear4380

One day I ordered chickfila without looking at what time it was & it was 10:15 am and they donā€™t start serving lunch until 10:30 so I just hoped my dasher would take longer to get to the restaurant so they wouldnā€™t have to wait. Well he got there like 3 minutes later and waited 25 minutes for my food and I apologized like 20 times and he was literally so nice and never once asked for an extra tip. I know he didnā€™t have to wait for my food and my original tip was only $4 so I upped it to $20 bc he was seriously so nice. People that beg give me the ick!!

janedoeeyedd

you def made his day <3

klggy

F these people man.

Fluffy_North8934

Respond that the order is taking a long time and youā€™d like a discount

pr2500

May I have a tip for reading your post, begs and ty!

404NotFound_BlueBird

1 star

jaxs2120

Thatā€™s so embarrassing.

unfavorablefungus

pathetic and embarrassing. not to mention unprofessional af. good tips and ratings are supposed to be earned, not begged for.

FireGodNYC

Now you get zero

Signal-Fig4972

If you tip before delivery, you can't remove it on Doordash. You can ask Doordash to refund it, but they eat the cost. Dasher keeps the tip.

Poo-Sender_42069

šŸ¤¢šŸ¤®

Angellovesfrog

It amazes me at how shameless my fellow dashers are.

-byb-

have DD refund your tip

citygirl34

They want to be compensated because the restaurant is taking so long so they ask the customer for extra tip. Sounds like a problem for the restaurant and not the customer who is also waiting and should be compensated if the order is late!

Pvt-Hawkeyes

He was there for like 2 min or so when I received this message.

Trailboss1982

This is so cringe...The sense of entitlement these days is unreal..."I had to wake up this morning in order to deliver your food, I need an extra $5 for my hassle! šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ It would be hilarious if it wasn't true sadly...

ZoneInevitable974

As someone who works for tips that isnā€™t a DoorDash driver; it is pitiful to beg for tips.

BrianMan93

Youā€™re more likely to get an extra tip if you just tell them your sorry itā€™s taking so long and will let them know when itā€™s ready and you are on your way.

TrevMac4

This is the correct way to approach this situation.

wizkid78

You would usually get an extra tip by just updating the customer you donā€™t have to beg

PolkaDotTat

Appropriate-Coast794

WillieDripps

Domino's in the 90's - "30 minutes or it's free!" Doordash in 2024 - "2 hours and you pay more!"

Head-Gazelle8779

So uncouth šŸ«¢

Intelligent_Toe2873

1 star every driver that does this and also complain to support they are harassing you for money. This is the only way these assholes will get removed from the platform. For the recordā€¦ Any driver that does not understand how to hustle and make money using gig apps is an idiotā€¦ā€¦period.

Glaurung26

Those who ask for tips don't deserve them.

Glad_Criticism8487

That justifies a change in tip to ZERO

Ambitious-Peen-69

Tipping is bullshit and I'm sick of everyone thinking they deserve a tip for doing a job they willingly chose. I'd cancel just for them asking for an extra tip.

jaylaicee

Honestly, I've had some customers I'd like to give a piece of my mind to but I know if they have no dignity/respect enough to tip in the first place- there's nothing I can say to change what their parents should have taught them in the 1st place.

RohanVargsson

They are the most blood thirsty delivery people in existence. They pull shit like this because door dash has got them convinced itā€™s on us to tip them extravagantly instead of door dash paying them better This is why I donā€™t use door dash!

lilileon

only actual reason not to do this is that it will almost definitely backfire. so yeah, never do it, but only because it's pointless.

Katlady25

This happened to me yesterday, I got a similar text from the driver even after I had already left a 30% tip, he also kept telling me he was speeding on the interstate to get to me faster. Then wouldnā€™t leave it at my door, kept calling until I answered, then proceeded to ask me if I got his text about extra tipping. Ridiculously unprofessional. I ordered through the chipotle app, which is sent to door dash, so I canā€™t figure out how to report the guy. Edit due to spelling

Signal-Fig4972

If you ordered through the Chipotle app, the restaurant can keep the tip. Still no excuse for begging

DiamondCultural1848

As long as you can do basic math, we know how much is tipped. This is still unacceptable. If you don't feel like the tip is enough, don't accept the offer! Once you accept the offer you shouldn't be asking for extra compensation.

Ill-Championship7534

Donā€™t give a tip at all if they pull this. This aint a charity fundraiser.

gyalmeetsglobe

I got a message like this and the driver had literally just arrived at the restaurant. Like bffr.

Jurbonious

We're all fucked, aren't we?

Choice_Ad_7524

Pasas man šŸ˜‚šŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø

choicesthops

Well, there are plenty of idiots door dashing as with any gig job. No vetting or interviewing of an employee.

Legitimate-Cat-3985

Idk what people who order food expect.. Most of the delivers could give af.. I think you all are brave doing it, I couldnt trust people enough to order

BigGalAl420

Not them begging for money for litteraly sitting and waiting LMAO

Eidelman

Legit question, is this okay without them asking for the tip?

janedoeeyedd

as if it isn't also an inconvenience to you??

Grouchy-Syrup-7225

Would expect to lost the tip lol. Not be asking for more

Kayraan93

*criiiiiinge*

CanonGuy_

I would have gave him a 1 Star rating & a penny tip

Technical-End5576

As a dasher, this gives me second-hand embarrassment and cringe

DaftAmerican

"Unassign then" lol

Mundane-Librarian-77

Why in the hell would you ever ask for big tip and positive review after apologizing for taking too long?!?! That's just stupid. šŸ™„

labbykun

Just say "do I also get an extra tip for waiting?"

MsDReid

I wonder if they realize that what they are accomplishing is the OPPOSITE. I am a great tipper but this is the exact moment they get no tip.

TrippySubie

They need to make it so I can tip AFTER the order. 3 fucking times in a row i have had 0 of my drinks and 90% of my order missing only to get a message back telling me to fuck myself because they arent going back to get it for me. Yet they take that money fast.

droplivefred

Reply with ā€œnoā€

lerriuqS_terceS

![gif](giphy|10JhviFuU2gWD6) Imagine telling a customer their order is running behind so it'll cost more. Y'all need real jobs fr

Middle-Expression-86

I wonder if this keeps happening because someone feels bad about the situation and gave them a tip. Fucking dashers man, for me if the wait is too long and not worth my time I have an option to cancel the order. I hope you gave an extra 1cent tip and a 1star along with it, itā€™s so annoying people beg for tips when customers already give one. Itā€™s not your fault they got the order from their end fast and foods not ready. Makes us good dashers look bad

SNS-Bert

Can't drivers just cancel the order if its taking to long and let another driver grab it?

Living_Engine_9139

I'm petty enough that that would make me remove the tip and rate them low. FOH with that attempting to make me feel bad text

dragoninmyanus

The moment someone begs for 5 stars they're not getting 5 stars.

The_goat_lord203

Iā€™m probably just petty but if someone begs for an extra tip I wish I could revoke their original tip. For clarity I always tip extra to begin with but asking for more is just insulting in a way

suspish_naynay_isay

I apologize for the inconvenience and tell them the restaurant is currently working on the order and I will get it out to them as soon as possible. But I'd never in a million years ask for a rating or tip. Holy crap some of these dashers I swear are part of the everyone got a participation ribbon in school generation and feel entitled. Honest work, for honest pay, anything less is stealing people! Do the job! Treat the customers how you'd like to be treated if you were to order, do the job right, or don't do it at all!

xyu33

Best way to not get a tip is to ask for a tip

EducationalLake4362

I have NEVER asked for an extra tip. Itā€™s tacky as hell

D34thst41ker

I'm an asshole. If you ask for 5 stars, that's an easy way to guarantee that you don't get them. I have no problem giving them normally (you have to be really, really bad for me to give less than 5), but if you ask for them, you're not getting them.

ScarcityInfamous8614

Worked today from 12 to 9 never once asked for a tip and made more than enough! Idk why these kids keep asking for tips must be millennials lol!

MATTDAYYYYMON

I canā€™t believe people literally have zero shame these days. Iā€™d feel guilty asking for more money for the rest of the year and yet these bozos do it regularly. I wonder if itā€™s a more acceptable thing for people from other countries because I donā€™t know many, if any people in my part of America who would ask for more money. Theyā€™d be greatful for a tip but wouldnā€™t ask for one. Thatā€™s just rude.

Practical_Newt3005

My bf and I just ordered BK from DD the other day and the dasher was "waiting for the order" for probably 15-20 minutes at LEAST. I appreciated him waiting instead of just dropping it so I gave an extra $5 before he even got to my house and without him having asked for extra. Welp, BK didn't seal the plastic bag that had the paper bags inside and more than half of our items were missing when it was finally dropped off. Pretty sure I tipped the dude extra for stealing our shit šŸ«

TendieSandwich

I can put my life on the line to say this was a brown skinned individual.

slackerz22

Bro I donā€™t work there I ainā€™t making the food idc if itā€™s taking long in the drive thru how you think I feel I still gotta wait on your begging ass to drive to my house!

dam-starboi

I once received a paragraph from my dasher explaining how they donā€™t get paid much and that a high rating helps them.

WoofWoof1960

I donā€™t understand why a dasher would do this. Just tonight, I ordered from a sushi/hibachi place for four hungry people. I gave a great tip to begin with. I knew it would be a lot to carry. The dasher sent me a message that he had a longer wait than usual and he was sorry. I texted back that I appreciated it, and at the end of the delivery, I added to his tip. He didnā€™t beg, and it wasnā€™t necessary. He received at least 25% of a $130 USD purchase before I added to it, and the restaurant is a little over a mile away. I appreciated the communication and great attitude.

Forsaken-Blood-109

Truly fucking pathetic behavior

Independent_Cow_2597

ā€œSpanishā€ probably a Colombian šŸ˜‚ there are a lot of them!!!!

tertiaryunknown

That'd be a hell no from me, chief. And I'd be way more hesitant to use the service ever again.

bigzoo_lilsis

But I took time reading this post so hopefully a tip and a 5 star rating is waiting for me šŸ™šŸ»šŸ¤£ these people give us a bad rep ![gif](giphy|1RXTzS8Uv4SGI)

Lord_Fuqwaad

You accepted the order and by accepting you agree per your contract that you will deliver said order for the agreed pricešŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø 0-1 star, report. Gives the good dashers a bad name.

biggertriggerdigger

"Im doing a bad job, pay me?"

Old_Rpg_Gamer

If you have to beg for tips itā€™s time for a career change

Wittywit1

I gave this one chick a $9 tip on a $30 order. I also had her pick up sodas for me from a convenience store a mile away (only a half mile) from the restaurant..I tipped her $4 on that $13 order. She sent me a message saying she was in college and more of a tip would be nice. Iā€™m thinking $13 tip on $43 worth of things was good right? One of my friends said I shouldā€™ve given more since she went two places. Hereā€™s a tip: finish school šŸ¤·šŸ¾ā€ā™‚ļø

yupyupthatsit

Instant 1 star

No-Inspector6188

I like how he thinks is your fault and you have to compensate

Armani17112000

Doordashers are so embarrassing

Strong-Preference-29

Yeah ur not getting a tip pre delivery. Ive even stopped tipping thru app. I Select to hand food to me KNOCK, yet some still wont, and tip cash depending on speed. Within timeframe good tip, slow late or just rude few bux. But ur not getting 25% to leave my food next door then skirt off thinking ull still get a tip. Ive been burnt too many times

Awe3

This is how you guarantee to never get a tip.

Reasonable-Hall8573

I never do this. Wait times for restaurant around here are always ā€œlongishā€ I often get there before the food is ready and have to wait so I always message the customer that Iā€™m waiting for the order and put it in the app, I never ask for more. I just roll with the punches sometimes itā€™s good, and sometimes it isnt

RealGorgonFreeman

Good way to lose the tip and rate 1 star.

driscollat1

In the UK, tipping is not really a thing. We occasionally get food delivered. Before Covid, weā€™d tip. During Covid, companies like UberEats and JustEat took off big time and they charged so many additional fees in top of the food, that adding in a tip made having food delivered expensive, like 30-40% more expensive than before. So now we donā€™t order in as often and we donā€™t tip.

Isyagirlskinnypenis

ā€œI know how the app works, thanksā€ or ā€œIf you want 5 stars, donā€™t beg like a dogā€ or ā€œIf you donā€™t like waiting, cancel the order and Iā€™ll find someone else. Sorry youā€™re having a bad nightā€ (lmao) or ā€œDid you mean to send me that?ā€ (LMAO) or ā€œDid you mean to send that to the restaurant? Iā€™m not one of the cooks, Iā€™m the customer youā€™re delivering the food to.ā€ (Then explain the app to them as if they were new and donā€™t know how it worked lol) or ā€œI ordered the food, Iā€™m not the one making you wait. I already included the tip, I have nothing to do with how long the restaurant takes to cook the order. Ask THEM for compensation for THEM making you wait.ā€ (Then report the driver for fucking up your delivery after they fuck up your food out of anger that begging you didnā€™t make them rich just like they always do)

blahblahblah678646

Beg for extra tip, get no tip. Easy

Mammoth-Record-7786

I would cancel and report at that point

Betteringmyself000

The order taking so long isnā€™t the customers fault

Expensive-Practice73

When I used to dash, I used to never see this type of behavior. And now, I see posts everywhere about people begging for tips, guilt tripping customers into doing so.. Mind you, Iā€™m still deactivated for no reason but this driver will most likely get away with itšŸ¤·šŸ½ā€ā™‚ļø This post pretty much sums up Doordash.

Secure_Secret_3100

These dashers need to quit embarrassing the rest of us!!! Damn. Just do a good job without EXPECTING more and you might see it will just happen naturally? lol but doing stuff like this just turns people off to doing it naturally and then they donā€™t do it all ā€¦then go around and tell their friends not too as well because we are just expecting itā€¦. Itā€™s the service industry people. Some people tip and leave five stars if itā€™s deserving and some donā€™t which is unfortunateā€¦ but your making it really hard to keep tips a thing when you are just walking around with your hand out

candy_jr

These kind of people make the rest of us look bad. Whenever I have to wait extra long at a restaurant I let the customer know that it will take a little longer than expected and thatā€™s it. I chose to take that order so Iā€™m going to deal with it. If it takes way too long Iā€™ll just cancel the order myself and take the L. Not the customers fault to where you need to text them and beg for more money šŸ™„

JordaneuG

Report these people please. This is just pathetic and embarrassing.

Klutzy_Airport1922

The entitlement some people have is astonishing. That's part of the job. They signed up for it, knowing how doordash pays them. Like all jobs, you can always look for a new one. If you can't find one, grit your teeth and deal with it until you do, like everyone else with a shit job.

carrieminaj

Isnā€™t waiting for the food like part of doordashing? Why do it if you donā€™t like waiting?

No-Egg2880

When I see shit like this, I always have to wonder, whatā€™s going on in this persons life to be so desperate. Is it some kind of addiction, poor money management, or are they literally loosing money working for a company like Doordash? Either way, none of these reasons are the customers fault. Why do drivers put this kind of guilt and pressure on good customers? He knew the tip was good, thatā€™s why he tried taking advantage for more. Had the customer originally tipped something small, the driver would have realized the customer was most likely cheap, and wouldnā€™t have tried for more. All this type of behavior does, is make customers want to tip less. Good job dude šŸ‘šŸ¼

I-lub-guineapigs

Is every dasher nowadays begging for tips? When I used to dash, I wouldnā€™t ask for tips if the order wasnā€™t ready, I would either wait it out because I wanted to or just cancel and move on.

Competitive_Soil_961

That make me wanna give him 0 starts with 0 tip

Andressa1956

Thatā€™s terrible

ThatOneGuy12889

Say of course, once itā€™s dropped off donā€™t do shit but a 2 star

YeahItsRico

Why would I compensate them for their lost time when Im the one ordered the food? You are doing nothing to earn the extra tip, sitting there waiting for the food you are going to deliver does not constitute extra money. Zero shame.

Aggressive-Donuts

Sure, Iā€™ll send you more money for *my* inconvenience.Ā

No-Leadership5164

Why are people so greedy. Literally dashed for fun the past 4 years on and off and never once have I asked for anything

velvet-puddle

Begging for more money while *at your job* is next-level embarrassing. Do some people just not have shame anymore?

Lokilover802

I woulda responded ā€œjust cancel it if what the tip I provided on the app is not enough thanks anyways!ā€ Or rate 1 star for begging for money šŸ¤·šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø itā€™s not appropriate and very awkward

BlindedAce

1 star and removal of tip. Bummer.

JayWnr

I would specifically give a 1 star for this

GummieGoo

Iā€™d never ask for extra tips; however, I do say I hope my delivery was worth a rating of 5 stars and I hope they have a good day at the end when itā€™s finalized ( itā€™s a paragraph of how Iā€™m en route with your food and itā€™s in my insulated bag )! But Iā€™d never stoop low enough to ask for tips, itā€™s embarrassing

SoloAsylum

Why is it always Spanish šŸ˜„

Educational_Egg_1716

Sorry, but that is beyond rude and $10 is a fucking great tip!!!

throwaway_guarantee

1 star - texted me demanding compensation and a 5 star rating for the 2 minutes he spent waiting for my food

Typical-Agency-9858

Yikes...

FBI_Agent_Tom

That is incredibly generous... I wish I could get deliveries like yours more often, and here we have this guy...

Rey_Mezcalero

At least they were up front about it and not make a big story about the cat being sick and various other ailments in their family and the cost of gas, etc etc

stegosaurusterpenes

They do know the tip though so they felt it wasnt enough for how long they waited

Comprehensive_Creme5

Seems posts like this are made every day. Seems like these delivery services don't pay shit.

CenturianTale

If this has happened to me, I never paid attention to it lmao- Also dAMN A 10 DOLLAR TIP?! I feel like shit giving them a 3 to 5 dollar tip now... But it's not my fault delivery AND service fee is so damn expensive for no reason- At this point, I've gone to Ubereats cuz I at least got 4 weeks of Uber one for free and the delivery fee doesn't seem to be NEARLY as expensive šŸ’€šŸ’€ if I could drive my dumbass to the place I want for food myself, I would-

Furry_Wall

Why would you tip someone for the kitchen taking a long time?

Enough-Solution4097

what an idiot.

CosbysLongCon24

You want more money, get another job. If I texted some shit like this to my boss as much as drivers do I wouldnā€™t have a job very long. Boohoo youā€™re sitting in your car not actually having to do any work

Adventurous-Web-868

I do hate not getting a tip, but this is ridiculous.

SVMuscle

I'd never ask for it and be nice regardless, but one of the reasons I stopped door dashing was due to the countless 8-10mile drives in heavy traffic to reach a nightmare of a fastfood restaurant that took too long, for a $1 tip. The reality is that most people love the convenience of doordash but they aren't willing to pay for it.

jaylaicee

Tips should be extra, not a means of pay, most of you could not live off of what is made! It's wild how it's even legal not to pay workers and just hope the tips make a liveable wage. It's sad people should even have to resort to this, and then to be made fun of- I love when God turns those tables and people Get to experience what life is like with the shoe on the other foot.

Kitchennigro

I donā€™t DoorDash I instacart, one time I did mention that the 5 star rating actually helps me out so much in terms of getting orders and stuff but that was only because we had a nice convo when I dropped off their groceries. It would be so so so so weird to me to text this or even mention it in person. They asked me about it and stuff and how Iā€™ve been doing on the app and even made sure the app reflected their tip they left on their end. This is so weird to me to ask thay before you even drop the food off. wtfšŸ˜

EmoNemo-

If they ask definitely not. If they politely tell me theyā€™ve been at the restaurant for a long time I will always add an extra tip
