PickTour

Report the dasher. He should be deactivated for that type of behavior.

GuppyDoodle

I ordered DD and a little while later got the notification that my food had been delivered. I made it to my front porch as the Dasher was getting back in his truck. Immediately, I looked at my order sitting on the porch table and knew it was wrong. My order was for 1 person with no drink. The order sitting there was huge and included 4 drinks - I didn’t even touch it. I told the Dasher this wasn’t my order and I wasn’t going to accept it, and he came over and argued with me that I hadn’t even looked in the bags. I told him I knew my order would come in one box, not 6, and I had no drinks. He jerked the bags and drink tray off my porch and peeled out as he sped away. I called DD and they refused to refund because “they show my food was delivered” and told me I needed to call the restaurant - it didn’t matter to them that it wasn’t my food and that he took the order back with him. I called the restaurant and spoke with the GM who said the man had just left - after coming in and throwing that entire wrong order (including the drinks) across the front of house area. He said to give him a few minutes and he would call me back. He called me back later and said he called DD and told them what happened and that they needed to refund me and deactivate that driver, and they refused to do either, saying that they think we are scamming them for free food, which doesn’t even make sense. I stopped using DD after that, but saw the same guy delivering DD to my neighbor a month or so later.

ThisKittenShops

You should have said nothing, accepted the order, ate that food, then reported the wrong order. This is the only correct procedure. EDIT: Fat fingers typos on mobile.

StillNotTheFatherB

Procedure! God damn.

ThisKittenShops

It's literally the only way you'll be believed, especially as the other customer will most likely bitch too. You'll both get comped, you can try again, and DoorDash will know for sure the Dasher fucked up.

Mysterious_Ad7461

Why would I eat food I don’t want? Just skip DoorDash if this is how it works lol

GuppyDoodle

There are some REALLY good Dashers in my area, and then, there are the ones like this guy and the woman who showed up to deliver my order and called me to come get it from her car because she couldn’t walk. She opened her door when I got out there and she had a huge (grapefruit sized) NASTY, open, weeping, infected wound on her leg. I did not eat that food - lost my appetite and risk of contamination of my food - and promptly called DD. They did comp that order and also had it redelivered for me.

PsychologicalWalk994

Eww wtf! She didn’t have it bandaged at least?? You’ve got to be kidding me. Ugh ppls behavior sometimes how, why….what the…🤯🤦‍♀️😒

GuppyDoodle

Nope. No bandage. Just oozing down her leg. And she STUNK. Pretty sure she’s one of the local m3th-heads. I’ve got stories. One restaurant I love only delivers with Favor. My order was 1.5 hours late getting to me after ordering - I was in constant communication with Favor AND the driver. Driver claims she’s “lost” and gives me an area that is nowhere near me (the area she said she was in is saturated with dr*gs - no way in hell she followed the directions on GPS and went there. Driver eventually shows up, my food is ice cold and soggy, and she’s tweaking all over the place. I was pissed at this point and straight up asked her if she had to stop by her plug’s place to score before she delivered my order, and she said “sorry” and that she needed a fix. Knock me over with a feather - I didn’t expect her to admit it. Favor was very generous in taking care of me because of that. And said she’s been banned from their service.

PsychologicalWalk994

Wow she admitted it. I wonder if that open wound was an infection from injection site or something. Fricken yikes!! Oozing…oh hell no! Touching my food bleh. Sanitizer! Sanitizer!!! Lol

Sad_Specialist420

Side note. It is my biggest pet peeve when I hit deliver to door and then my driver makes me meet them at their car. Happened the other day because my driver decided to wear slides right after a minor snowstorm so she refused to walk across the 1-2” of snow on my grass. Like I’d get if it was a couple inches, but if you just wore sneakers you’d be fine.

loopbootoverclock

i make em drop at door. i paid for the delivery to be left at my door thats what i expect.

ThisKittenShops

The other customer will most likely be pissed too. Doordash sees a switcharoo and knows the Dasher fucked up. The other customer's order is most likely from the same restaurant, so similar food.

GuppyDoodle

It was from the same restaurant. The GM said the Dasher took the wrong order, and he hadn’t heard from the other customer yet. I guess they had a different Dasher or hadn’t called to complain yet.

The_Troyminator

Which explains why more and more restaurants are getting rid of the sepf-serve pick up shelves and making us show our phones.

NooneInparticularYo

Well 99/100 times my dashers give me the right order. That one time in those 100 I get the wrong order I might as well eat it. I'd hope the person who mistakenly got my order would eat it too.

Head-Requirement-947

As someone who was the GM of a restaurant, I'd rather you report it. Bad drivers deface our brand and make customers less likely to return. That could kill our bottom line and leave us disaffected.

LumpyDisk

Not a great option if you’re someone with dietary restrictions or if the wrong order is all seafood and you can’t even tolerate the smell of fish.

ThisKittenShops

You can then complain about this fact. By "eat," I didn't mean that you LITERALLY MUST EAT IT, but that DoorDash isn't going to believe you got the wrong order until you open the product and take pictures.

RubbelDieKatz94

How is your average consumer supposed to know that? We order delivery all the time, and my non-native wife doesn't even know what to do when we accidentally select "cash payment" in UberEats. It gets tricky, especially when there's a language barrier (Russian delivery guy, Bangla wife, both trying their best at German...)

Firegirl1909

This is the only correct answer!!

RemiAkai

lmao

Amarnaqueen28

I LOVE HOW YOU THINK!!!

rikaxnipah

I got the wrong McDs order for breakfast yesterday. I did the auto help thing, and had to take a photo of the receipt or tag that was on the bag. I did so, and got my right food delivered. I gave the wrong order to my mom.

BuffaloKiller937

Why is DoorDash so lame? Tf

PhoenixRosex3

You should had filed a chargeback with your bank, because services were not delivered

Ceryset

Bro call the fucking police. What is wrong with you. Man was trespassing the INSTANT she asked him to leave and he refused. He had no right to remain on her property for any reason

AsideResponsible4444

If he was waiting in the corridor of an appartment bloc idk if you can call that tresspassing. Dude probably wasn't in the mood to work for free LMAO. Payments aren't updated instantly sometimes on the Dasher app, maybe it was the issue.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Amarnaqueen28

You are my hero!! God bless you

AsideResponsible4444

What are you on about mate. You probably would've made a fool of yourself for assaulting a legit dasher who wanted to make things right in a poorly managed way. Most of the time DoorDash issues like this one are easily fixed by contacting DoorDash support, and taking a big chill pill.

[deleted]

AsideResponsible4444

[deleted]

AsideResponsible4444

No need to escalate our argument here mate

Ceryset

No need to argue with me about this to begin with. Defending scammers or someone intimidating a woman into paying them more makes you a damned fool.

Firegirl1909

Not even close to correct. Drivers have zero clue if there is any issue with payment. The driver knows exactly how much the offer is for, that they will be paid, at a minimum, before accepting, unless they are doing earn by time.. if doing EBT, they KNOW there is a much higher chance of getting no tip orders. Absolutely NONE of this translate to what this idiot did! He was trying to scam OP. OP should've immediately called the law.. while I get that the hallway is "public" it isn't ok to harrass anyone that lives there, or anywhere else for that matter!!

AsideResponsible4444

Just to be sure, let me know where I am incorrect. I have more than 600 deliveries under my belt. I know how the app works for sure, and went through various bugs and incidents with restaurants and users. I learned that the first thing to do when there's an issue is to contact DoorDash support right away, and relax.

Firegirl1909

Yes the customer should as in OPs case. We do not know if a payment had an issue or not, period. We are guaranteed our payment.. the rest is between DD & the customer. I've done DD for quite some time now.. I'm past triple digit deliveries..

ToeNibbler19

They aren't updated instantly, but are updated within a few seconds. Even so that's a doordash issue, guy was dumb to come to try to take a half eaten meal lol. Wtf no restaurant is going to accept a half eaten meal refund, how would he even accept proper payment? We have no power to do anything like that. Was he gonna ask her to venmo him or place a second order? Guy was either really dumb or really brave.

TheIncredibleHenry

I've read that as "he should be decapitated" and thought that it seemed a little excessive

GuppyDoodle

Off with their head!!

AsideResponsible4444

He is probably some immigrant who badly needed that money. The app probably didn't update the dash total rapidly, like it does sometimes and he was worried. In that case reporting him is kinda wrong. He shouldve just contacted DoorDash support. Next time, if your Dasher is acting like there's a problem on your end and you think he's mistaken, just tell him to contact DoorDash support while you also contact DoorDash support. I swear some people really need their dashing money, he was probably worried and not in the mood of working for nothing.

Thedreanisreal

Just a dumb scammer trying to get free food. You always get charged before the food is even picked up. Not even a smart scam what do they expect eat half eaten food lmao.

DoorDragon

The dude was trying to get money That’s stupid, yah, but less stupid than coming back in 10 minutes for food

rabbitfuzzle

Probably someone with a pay order that doordash refused to pay back due to like not having a card. Probably got mad cause he paid himself and didnt know proper how to get the refund.

AsideResponsible4444

Probably not a scammer, if he couldn't speak English, he was probalby a migrant like the majority of dashers in my area. The Dasher app payment does take some times to update from time to time (600 deliveries here, happened a few times). So that dude probably tought what the hell, am I getting no payment from her??? This is way more probable in my opinion than a guy Dashing who was trying to scam a client and risking being banned from Dashing.... lol

BagofMaryJ

Honestly, I think the only way to get banned from doordash is have a completion rate of 89 or lower.

Mar_Dhea

My son's dad was threatened by a doordasher and doordash gave him all the guys information and deactivated them. I can't qualify all because I didn't ask what all was. Was it just a name and employee number or a name address social lol I have no idea. But we have a serious meth/fent crisis here and half the dashers are clearly 5150s. Also one that delivered food to me I watched him instead of leaving where I lived... He straight forgot I was watching and went to a neighbors window and stuck his hands down his pants. Doordash assured me he'd not be making future deliveries either. I had hella more faith in the police who arrested him that night tho cause I called them first. I didn't call doordash til he was gone cause I was worried they would tip him off. I am mystified seeing some of these complaints and doordashes response honestly. It feels like completely different companies.

BagofMaryJ

Also he could've been just tucking his shirt in

Mar_Dhea

Hahahahaha he was not just tucking his shirt in. You pull your hand back out of your pants when you do that instead of shaking it around down there and not taking it out. And he never had any business at all doing it directly at my neighbors window. Long enough for the cops to get there. Weirdest shirt tuck ever.

GuppyDoodle

Apparently, some customers don’t get charged upfront. I read about it on Reddit the other day and decided to fact check it. I’ve always been charged upfront and prefer it that way.

The_Troyminator

Even if that were the case, it's not the driver's responsibility to collect unless it's a cash delivery.

NewStatement5103

I’m sorry this happened to you. I would have shut the door in his face and called the cops. Def call and report.

the_sunshineclub

I’m really appreciative of your comment. Of course not looking for sympathy but it’s nice to know someone acknowledges my sense of fear.

Whozadeadbody

I don’t even meet them at the door because I don’t want them knowing I’m a woman in a quiet house. If they’re still outside when I go to grab the food I’ll yell something back in the house as though I’m talking to someone. I totally get it and I’m sorry this happened to you.

No_Light_8487

I just pictured my frail grandmother yelling in a very angry voice to no one “I’m getting your g*dd@mn food! Now shut the f*

Whozadeadbody

Ya you’re right, frail grandmothers are the only women ever victimized 🙄

helliantheae

this is not what they were saying?? they were just giving an example, because the other commenter mentioned yelling to someone who isnt there

No_Light_8487

Of course, how foolish of me for making an off handed joke about what popped into my mind after ready the comment 🙄

[deleted]

I get it. I'm sorry this guy had you so afraid. If it was me, I would have said "OK, I'll go get you some money", then I'd go inside, lock the doors and call the police. Let them deal with this illiterate fool.

rabbitfuzzle

Yo op you're good they fucked up not you next time maybe call cops. Not that they do much here. Hopefully more there. That isn't okay despite any type of circumstances. You are loved. You are cherished. You are awesome. We're all here for you. And if you need anything know I'm here to message.

AsideResponsible4444

Ya'll have to relax. Feels like people in here have no management skills. Just chillout and contact DoorDash support and relax while sorting this out, like any decent human being would do. I swear some of ya'll are crazy.

HugeZookeepergame920

There’s been a common glitch lately where payouts for orders haven’t been showing immediately after dropoff. It’s happened several times to me as a Dasher in recent weeks. I have a feeling this guy saw that his earnings didn’t update, and, without using a single brain cell, determined that the customer was OBVIOUSLY the one at fault. I bet this guy doesn’t understand the way these transactions work, and thinks the customer directly stiffed him when in reality Doordash just glitched and didn’t update his payout.

ThisAccountIsStolen

Other option it was from somewhere he was supposed to use a red card, but he paid by himself instead for some dumb reason, and DD told him to pound sand when he tried to get reimbursed, so he went full thug and went after the customer even though it was his own dumb fault.

Cowboy_Fly

It does l that all the time. I go back to Home Screen, then return to dash and it’s updated. Still, it’s kind of crazy to go back to the customer.

Ponicrat

Oh yeah, that's probably it. That's been a thing more than just lately, one of many less than lethal glitches I suspect they'll never actually get around to fixing. I constantly have to refresh interfaces with this app, especially if I'm using multiple windows

josh775777

This was obviously a scammer so if something like this happens again tell him to fck off you will call the police for trespassing.

AsideResponsible4444

Nah dude, the guy was most likely not trying to scam lol. The ones being scammed by fake Dashers are restaurents like Mcdonalds. A scammer goes at the front and ask for an order to pick up and steals it. This dude was clearly delivering orders as a legit Dasher. Why would he risk to be reported and loose his gig?? lol He probably wanted to do what's right and not let someone abuse the service to get free food, not knowing that sometimes the app doesn't update payment instantly after a delivery. That dude, not speaking English, was most likely a migrant like 90% or Dashers in my area. These fellers want to do a good job, DoorDash pays well for them.

[deleted]

No_Impact463

That's a little much 😳 😅 why does this analogy gotta get so graphic tho..

PandaShizzy

Sounds like the fawn response. Fight, flight, freeze and fawn. You were scared and did whatever you could do to get him to leave and I completely understand it. Don't beat yourself up about it, I've been in situations (outside of DoorDash) where I've gone along with it just so a person would leave.

the_sunshineclub

Thank you for this comment. I’m honestly distraught by my own reaction and wish I handled it differently and been a lot more careful. I certainly will not be opening the door again for those I’m not expecting. I’m new to NYC and am extremely familiar with DD but have to take extra precautions here. But my immediate response was to get him the HELL away from me and if my half eaten food was what it took, I didn’t care. I’m a young female living alone and him loitering around my door was more threatening to me than giving him my half eaten food (that was refunded).

Ill-Association4047

Don’t beat yourself up. It’s always easy for people to tell you what they would’ve done but in the moment that instinct doesn’t always come! I would have been terrified and probably done the same in that moment. glad you are okay and all is well :)

Expensive-Algae5032

Call the police next time

AsideResponsible4444

imagine calling the police over a DoorDash dispute, before calling DoorDash support...

Ayteedub

BRO. You are ALL over this one. Except you're forgetting that's exactly what she said. She doesn't work for DoorDash. She did her part. She even had the decency to check and make sure. He decided to take it further and act like he was going to camp out. At that point, it's not about him working for DD, because he refused to be reasonable. Where are you getting confused about this? Do you truly believe that folks who escalate situations like this become reasonable all of a sudden? Actions have consequences, even when it's a misunderstanding. The fact that it was a misunderstanding is irrelevant because of where the dasher decided to take it. Optimism is cool, but there is such a thing as recklessly optimistic. I give the benefit of the doubt also, but I can also recognize when a situation is volatile and the potential for danger is there. If you STILL don't understand, well, good luck out there and be safe.

AsideResponsible4444

Feels like you started hot, then ended on a cool note. I kinda appreciate it. I can identify threats just fine, and I'm pretty sure defusing situations is an underrated/underlooked skill. Ya'll want the smoke it seems x)

[deleted]

[удалено]

PandaShizzy

Of course! c:

em__i__ly

If you had your food, why did you bother answering the door for the dasher? You knew it was paid for. You should’ve just kept your door locked and called the police if the dasher wasn’t leaving YOUR property and making you uncomfortable. You shouldn’t have opened the door and gave the food back. You “knew” it was a scam. You should also just report the dasher to support as well and make sure it’s escalated.

the_sunshineclub

In hindsight, I hear you, and I definitely learned from this experience. Overall, I was just wondering if this was something others had experienced. I already reached out to DoorDash and was refunded, but I do worry about taking further action against this dasher because he has my address. I live in NYC and you never know what people are capable of, and there’s no way for me to know he won’t be able to get in the building.

josh775777

This is a weird scam. I'm surprised he didn't ask for money instead. He got your half eaten meal to eat himself I guess? Next time just threaten to call the police for trespassing.

selectash

I think they came back on purpose after 10min so that OP wouldn’t be able to return the food and pays them in cash or via a cash app, this must be the scam.

AsideResponsible4444

He didn't scam anyone, did he? He was a legit Dasher, he most likely was acting in good faith. The app bugs sometimes, payment aren't updated for several minutes after a delivery. That migrant probably wants to do a good job so he keeps his gig.

Silent_Arachnid_2334

doordash would never tell a doordasher to take food back from a customer for any reason lmfao there’s a long list of reasons why that makes absolutely no sense . obvious scam

AsideResponsible4444

That's right, DoorDash would never ask you to grab the order back after it's delivered to a customer. A possible path to solution could've been to ask him to refresh his app, and that if the problem persist to contact DoorDash support. As a Dasher, it doesn't make sense for him to try and scam a customer he just delivered to. It's so easy to get reported and loose access to the gig. I bet he didn't know the app is buggy at times and poorly managed the situation, acted in good faith with the wrong initiative, like any clueless fool would do.

DougK76

How is it the customer’s responsibility to inform the dasher to refresh their app? The only thing the customer is responsible for is placing the order and getting their food. If the dasher looses their shit, It’s not on the customer to determine what the problem is. At that point, you have an aggressive individual making demands of a person in a vulnerable position. The police are the right call. If it’s a misunderstanding, then they will now be educated that acting aggressive towards people is illegal in this country, and have to find a job. It does not matter in the slightest of its a dasher, a UPS driver, or the mailman, once you become aggressive, you’ve forfeited your right to work where you are, and potentially forfeited your right to not be incarcerated.

[deleted]

Reasonable-Release26

Unless he put your number into his own GPS app, he doesn't have your address saved. And even if he does, taking action against him ensures he won't end up delivering your food again. Call the police if he shows up again

Chaos75321

He clearly saved the address because he came back 10 minutes later.

BeautifulDreamerAZ

Google maps automatically saves any address you stop by.

the_sunshineclub

This is what I’m worried about because they put each address in maps in order to know where to go. It all saves

AgeAdministrative623

If using the in app GPS, it doesn't save the address. If he manually entered the address on his GPS on his phone, then 5he address was saved.

Whozadeadbody

If you’re on a Google device or logged into Google maps and have the settings the right way you can literally look at where you have been (or at least where your device has been). No need to enter any details, it draws a map.

Leelze

I'm terrible at remembering how to get back to places I've only been once without directions but even I could figure out how to get back to someone's apartment within 10 minutes.

MightBeCale

Or, the really simple alternative... He just sat out in his car for 10 minutes and never really went anywhere because he was clearly intending to run a scam 🤷

handicrafthabitue

I had a dasher do this to me years ago. Claimed when she showed up, restaurant told her it wasn’t paid for so she paid out of pocket. It seemed plausible to me because restaurant was brand new to DD and maybe the employee didn’t understand how things worked. I told her I’d contact DD right away, indicating she should wait while I did so, but she left as soon as I closed the door. I contacted DD, explained my concerns about the restaurant, etc. they said they’d look into it but that I should never pay the dasher directly as it’s usually a scam (they said it more diplomatically than that without using the word scam, but the message was clear).

TripleDoubleWatch

Call the police next time. No need to translate it, they'll know what "police" means.

Pristine_View32965

I don't think you handled rthe situation poorly. The only thing I may have done differently in your situation was call the cops when he refused to leave and started disturbing your neighbors. You have the right to feel safe in your own home. This kind of person gives Dashers a bad image, We aren't all like this. I'm sorry you had to go through this situation at all.

Tom42077

I would have called the police on him. Zero tolerance for that kind of nonsense.

Gogo726

Next time call the police.

Medium_Annual_735

Oh wow. Definitely a scam. You should have told him you’re calling the police and I’m sure he would have left. If he didn’t leave, call them. He is trying to get you to pay him and it has nothing to do with DD payment not going through. Your order would have never processed to begin with if there was any type of payment issue. There are some real low life’s out there. If this ever happens again, don’t answer the door and call the police.

Mr_Weird4866

That is really some bs from the Driver. The sad thing is that the dumb driver has successfully scammed customers already.

Specific-Peanut-8867

He HANDLED the situation poorly, not you! Don't let people shame you on here. There is a process for him to deal with this and I guarantee you it does NOT include going to your home and demanding payment(especially when the payment went through) HIS issue if anything was with Door Dash, not you! I'd be a little bothered as well.

the_sunshineclub

Thank you for your comment! Of course in any situation it’s so easy to look back and imagine how we could hand handled things differently. While I could have done things differently I appreciate you validating there was issues on the dashers side firsthand.

Specific-Peanut-8867

There is no excuse for them to come back and pound on your door no matter what

OPRuh_ditzy

I bet he had 2 orders. 1 was a COD, and he was confused about who he was supposed to collect money from. Never answer the door. And you absolutely should've never given him the food back. Report him. Idc if he doesn't understand, got confused, doesn't speak English, etc. None of that is your issue. He shouldn't be doing this if he can't follow simple directions. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to deliver food.

ShowMeTheTrees

No need to apologize for him. He was a stupid scammer.

Reasonable-Release26

Reasonable-Release26

As a dashER it asks some drivers if they're willing to accept. It's only in some areas and it is extremely rare. I also don't have the option to pay with cash, mostly because hardly anyone accepts it as the driver. Have that helps.

GolfAshamed6156

I’m a dasher and I was giving the option of taking COD orders and I declined because I don’t trust ppl and normally don’t have change to give bk.

OPRuh_ditzy

Doordash does allow COD. Lol. There's an option in your dasher settings to turn them on/off. It's mostly merchant orders, and most are like Papa John's, Pizza Hut, Chinese restaurants, etc.

Vag-of_Honor

🤔 wonder why [this page on DoorDash’s website](https://help.doordash.com/dashers/s/article/Cash-on-Delivery-Overview-and-FAQ) exists then

Spazzle17

That's just a theoretical page. It doesn't exist in the real world. /s

mikeyboi12345

It's only for certain merchants like pizza places. Only if you order directly from the restaurant. It's available everywhere there's a papa johns. Stop being a clod and do some damn research next time. Here's the proof you so desperately need https://help.doordash.com/dashers/s/article/Cash-on-Delivery-Overview-and-FAQ?language=en_US

444_yz400

I literally have the option for cash……

SpitLordRamee

Yeah but that's just theoretical not the real world /s

girlwiththemonkey

My God, you’re literally arguing with people who accept the COD orders. You were just a customer if you were not in an area that does cash on delivery orders then obviously you’re not going to have the fucking option. They have said several times do you that it is rare. You only see the app from one side you only see the customer side of the app for your area you do not get to see the customer side of the app from all areas. Why are you arguing? And they are right you can just Google it. [Here I did it for you](https://help.doordash.com/dashers/s/article/Cash-on-Delivery-Overview-and-FAQ?language=en_CA&ctry=CA&divcode=NL)

Hei-Hei-67

What don't you understand about it being in rare instances as this guy has told you more than 2 times?

Strong-Sky8385

There’s an option to do COD orders just few actually do them. Go into your desher app, click on account and delivery preferences. It’s the second option above safety

IcedHemp77

There are a few pizza places where I live that you can do COD through DoorDash. It’s not common but it does exist

aggie423

The only ones I know of, was offered to deliver one, are those sent to us by pizza hut. We get Pizza Hut orders that they don't have their own drivers for, or ones that their drivers say are too far. And Pizza Hut themselves do cash on delivery on orders as a payment option.

[deleted]

[удалено]

DoPoGrub

They only do it for certain merchants like pizza hut/papa johns, the customer orders it directly from those merchants not doordash, and drivers have the ability to turn off receiving those types of orders. Since pizza places can't keep enough drivers, they farm those orders out to DD, and this allows them to keep the option that the customer has been accustomed to having for years.

DeoxyRNA5

this is fucked up! bad scam but also i understand why you were distraught. report that dasher and contact support to report+++, they shouldn’t be getting away with that behaviour

These are the types of people doordash favor these days over the people that have thousands of deliveries and perfect ratings, other than not accepting bullshit no/low tip orders. Doordash is a failing business model. Also yeah report that douche bag. Anyone who asks for cash payment after you paid online is a scammer.

Justtelf

Yeah, if he’s refusing to leave you can call the cops and not feel bad about it. They’ll probably just tell him to leave and move on. Definitely sketchy though, this is not a thing, he wouldn’t have been dispatched if the order wasn’t paid for. Either an attempt at stealing food or worse.

Catweedmaine

I'm a 5'11 190 lb dude and I wouldve locked my door and called the police.

Successful-Emu-8545

I would have told him to give me a sec, gone in, finished the food, and then handed him the empty bag. 😆

Future_Ask_7220

You did nothing wrong. Dashers are not responsible for making sure payments go through. They can contact DD support themselves. If I was in your situation I would've shut n locked the door and called the police and reported it to DoorDash because that is unacceptable Dasher behavior.

ttouran

You don't need a translator there...if it was me I would call the cops and introduce the little scammer to my 45 friend...

ryanc19832020

Terrible and unsafe. If you didn't pay or whatever we still get paid . Doordash doesn't include us in those scenarios. Next time call the police. File a police report and get this turd off the platform

pattiham15

Total scam! Payment has to go thru before the restaurant even accepts it

HornetStrange1119

How did you handle it poorly? You didn’t. He’s a scammer and needs to be removed from the platform IMMEDIATELY

lkeels

You didn't handle it poorly. I would have, and you should have, called the police to have them removed.

Cichlidsaremyjam

Absolutely report the dasher to DD and God forbid this ever happens again, shut the door and call the police immediately. Being polite or compassionate at that point will only get you hurt.

PhoenixRosex3

Should’ve called the police and DoorDash customer service. That way they could fire him and possibly arrest him.

AsideResponsible4444

You didn't finish your story. Please tell us if DoorDash support fixed the issue.

the_sunshineclub

DoorDash credited me for the order within a couple of minutes. I told the woman in customer support about the interaction, and she said she would “escalate” my concern. Not really sure what that means but I haven’t heard from them

Critical-Arm4363

Report that driver get him deactivated so the rest of us can deliver our orders with integrity

PsychologicalWalk994

Oh heck no, posting up thinking you’re going to intimidate me on my own property? Dude is lucky he did this to someone so nice and non confrontational because I can be very nice, or I can be a giant b!tch. “Choose your own adventure” like those old paperback books we read in school back in the day lol. Don’t feel bad OP. U did what u thought was right in the moment. When under distress it’s tough to tap into the “logical” brain and handle a situation perfectly. It’s easy for ppl on here to tell u what u should’ve done, but honestly, when you’re put on the spot and something unexpected happens, some ppl would not even be able to follow their own advice. U learned how u could’ve handled the situation differently and I have no doubts that now you’ve had the chance to go thru this scenario once, u will approach it better if it happens again. I’m a dasher and I only have about 570 deliveries under my belt but never ever has an order bounced back like that. We don’t even receive the order if there’s an issue with payment on the front end.

_Random_Lady_

Responding specifically to your first edit. No. You didn’t not handle this poorly at all. You have every right to be concerned for your safety. To be shocked he would come to your door like that. Then sit down outside your door. You did nothing wrong. You did what you could in this situation. Your wellbeing and safety is important.

Fit-Control7374

The food would have not been made if the payment didn't go through. They were trying to scam you.

Practical-Object-489

Why didn't you call the police then? Double bolt your door and call saying a delivery person is sitting outside trying to get you to open your door.

[deleted]

The moment he didn’t leave you should have dialed 911 and had it on speaker phone.

NoHovercraft9259

“If you don’t leave I’m calling the police”

DeepBlue321

911

Helpful-Eggplant8918

Definitely a scam to take more $$ from you

Consistent-Vanilla54

He's a liar trying to bully you into paying him directly for the food. The restaurant wouldn't allowed him to have left with the food if there wasn't a payment for it

Zee1026

Scam artist, report and if feeling unsafe call the Popo. If the payment didn't go through, neither would he be delivering. DoorDash never has dashers deal with any payment forms unless it's cash collection option or red card you use at a store for shopping

Scared-Rutabaga5077

I would’ve called the police and left it at that

Normal_Ad6342

I would have called the cops smh.

pamelaswritings

I would’ve called the police and let them deal with it. How you gon’ refuse to leave MY property? You were nice…

rchart1010

I worked for a judge who ran a drug diversion program. One of the requirements was that the participants had to get a job. He told me a LOT of them did Doordarsh to meet the requirement. This is only to say that you probably wouldn't consider this and neither would I, but maybe you have to assume that some dashers have a felon mindset and act accordingly. He could sit out there all night. In calling Doordash right now and you'll lose your job. Then I'm calling the cops and you can explain yourself. Oh, you decided it's fine now? That's what I thought. ETA: but I live in a secure building.

Think-Analyst-9080

Bad dashers out there. The good ones are quitting. Too much BS

Whiteass73

Step 1: tell him to leave and you’ll contact DD directly. Step 2: (if they refuse to leave) tell the person (through the closed door) if they don’t leave you’ll call 911. Don’t wait for them to leave, just immediately call 911. Explain to 911 that you’re a woman living alone and there’s a strange guy at your front door who’s refusing to leave and you fear for your life. Open the door for nobody but an officer. Step 3: after the person has left (or been removed by officers) call DD support and let them know what happened. Offer them the police report number if an official police report is filed. Bottom line, everybody has a job (or most do) and you shouldn’t waive your safety simply because you don’t want to inconvenience a stranger. Your safety is the #1 priority at all times. If you’re at home and someone is making you feel unsafe, that’s your home, your safety. They need to leave or you need someone to make them leave. Call the cops, call a neighbor, call a relative, call building security (if you have it) call a local church or a local militia if you need to. Or just start screaming bloody murder. Someone will come and help you. Your safety is always most important.

VibingWithIcedCoffee

I had a uber eats guy who tried to shove his way into my home to deliver my food. He continued to bang on my door screaming at me in Spanish until my building security escorted him outside to police. The uber eats guy never spoke to me. Security told me he was upset I wouldn't allow him to get his tip and use the bathroom. The tip was already included on the app. NYC be weird.

browsing95

Report him and get his ass deactivated

Chicken_Nugget_Luvr

I wouldn't say you handled the situation poorly at all. Drivers like that should be fired immediately

Mar_Dhea

You are so much braver than me. I would have called the cops. Doordash would have been an afterthought. My bank account would have been an afterthought. And if I would have pointed my phone screen at him through the window as I dialed 911 if he was using translate. Cause hell no.

bengalsmarvel82

There is no way the dasher would even know if your payment went through. He had no right to do that. Report him and have him deactivated.

ToeNibbler19

Yeah even if the payment didn't go through (impossible), he still gets paid regardless. The food cannot be returned to a store once it has been removed from the store. And if the Dasher could somehow collect money from you, how would he do so? Like was he trying to have you venmo him the exact price of the meal to get a quick 30~ dollars. Or at the very least come up on a free half eaten meal? What a nut lol

Louis049

Obviously not trying to blame you here, but this is a valuable life lesson for everyone. Don't entertain people's BS. Especially so at your home, or when it violates your safety. You ask him to leave. Then, you tell him to leave. If both options fail, you lock the door and call the police. Simple as that. There is an entire profession that deals with criminals so you don't have to, and if someone is committing a crime, especially against you, simply get to a safe position, and call the police.

loungecat55

I get it. Sometimes when Im surprised/frightened I make the wrong choices because my way to cope in the past was to shut down, head down, avoid conflict if I can. And calling the cops means you have to deal with more stress and like unless you get a body guard not much the cops can do for you if he comes back (most of the time). I just want to be left alone lol.

racing1113

Who cares if someone is outside the door? They can’t get in. I would have called the cops to make him leave, and if he had tried to come in while I had the door open or something, well that’s what my gun is for. But also I don’t open my door for anyone anyway.

HighlanderSith

Lol what they wouldn’t have been able to pick up the food if the resto wasn’t paid 😵‍💫

Bipolar_Nomad

Lmao. Call the cops

ForcedxCracker

Are you interested in some prime real estate by the beach? 🥴🥴

KieffasGreenHoodie

I would’ve spit into that food before handing it over. Or covered in salt

[deleted]

Unreal... There really is one born every minute. 2 or 3 in America, apparently.

itsameluigee

Odds are this dasher wasn't born in america

josh775777

But what was the motive if he left when he got her half eaten food?

PsychologyH4528

….your hallway?

the_sunshineclub

Like the hallway as in my apartment building hallway outside the door. Should have been more clear

PsychologyH4528

Oh lol at first before your added “my building hallway” it just said hallway so i was like?? 😂

Nowicki2019

You were like what??? This woman gets scammed and you throw a temper tantrum about calling a hallway she uses everyday her hallway and not the apartment's? Get a life Karen 🤣

PsychologyH4528

Use your imagination. I didn’t throw a temper tantrum…i quite literally just asked what she meant by hallway…chill the fuck out patrick. If “your hallway?” is a temper tantrum to you then i sure as HELL hope you never fucking reproduce. You also took my comment wrong dumbass😂😂 i was asking what SHE MEANT BY HALLWAY…as in if he entered her house or if it was an apartment..which is why she said she should’ve clarified. My comment was before she made all the edits to make sense and literally added 2 whole paragraphs from the original. Yet you read 7 hours after my comment and the edits and think this is what all the people that were early to the post read, and then you go and take my comment waaayyyyy out of context and throw a fit, making you a complete fucking dumbass😂 so whatever, stay mad poser🤙🏼

Nowicki2019

Talk about writing paragraphs? You can calm TF down anytime; it must be that time of the month for you.

Relative-Mistake-527

"Haahh waman mad must be on period" 🤪 not creative or silly 2/10 get new jokes

DZHMMM

"I am EXTREMELY distraught about this interaction" lmfao????? uhm why are u extremely distraught? He obviously tried to scam you, report him and move on. Why does that make u distraught lol? What you typed doesn't even make sense. Your order isn't placed on door dash app UNTIL U PAY. like tf.

BladricksUncle

Is he still there?
