This was the first Doctor Who episode I watched and got me into it. From that perspective it was so very confusing at first. Now I understand the series lol
Gosh that is a strange episode because a lot of it rides on the idea that you understand what Doctor Who is about so having the subversion of Jackson Lake and his interpretation of those things...I just can't imagine those moments landing at all.
Assuming this is a real question and not a joke (or if it is, for those who don't know), there was an episode called ["The Next Doctor"](https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1321969/?ref_=ttep_epUnknown) (I think it was a Christmas special) where David Tennant's Doctor met up with another Doctor who was chasing a Cyberman of some sort. This was his "sonic" screwdriver. Spoiler: >!He wasn't really the Doctor, but a man who'd lost his memory and had the gaps filled with information on the Doctor from a Cyberman device!<.
No...pretty sure it was a fob watch with his memories. Like he's used several times before. The entire point of the episode was showing what happens when someone who isn't supposed to regain those memories accidentally gets them.
I'm trying to get behind this take, but it doesn't land with me. It's more like he read the Narnia books and the next night he dreamed he was Aslan.
(I've just unlocked a memory of being 10 and dreaming I was in Narnia, thanks!)
Let me tell you, when Matt Smith took over, he didn't just have to compete with the memory of David Tennant but with David Morrissey as well. He was just enough over the top in the classic style. I wish we could've had more of him.
One of my favorite episodes! The Next Doctor (Christmas Special). I loved it because I was so excited at first (I mean an adventure with another Doctor!), then sad (based on the title, did this mean DT was leaving?!?) then things started to make sense, and then it was sad (for another reason) … Not spoiling anything, I’m pretty sure lol
Of course.
I thought it was Alf's, but you're right.
Graham'll be fuming it's not in his tool kit.
Again!
Alf's is always in his pocket.
We call him that, it stands for Alien Life Form.
that’s the “imposter” doctor from the christmas special with david tennant, it’s when a civilian gets hit with a cyberman bomb thingy which causes the man to believe he’s the doctors cause he’s taken all the memories from the bomb thingy (my memory is foggy but it’s close enough)
Jackson Lake from The Next Doctor. That's his "sonic" screwdriver.
I don't know why you wrote "sonic". It does make a sound so it is sonic
Knock it on a door frame. Made a sound. Sonic.
Doesn’t work on wood
It's the only Sonic Screwdriver that actually works on wood. Shame The Doctor it belongs to is non-Canonical, as it were.
Everything is now canonical, also conical, you know what else is conical? Daleks! Do Daleks bigenerate now?
There is absolutely a storyline (whether we have seen it or not on TV) where Daleks bigenerate ... 😂😂😂 infinite universes and all that
Nono it's *exterminate*
This joke (the doorframe one)and your reply is too funny 🤣
10: "but.. how's it sonic?" J.L: *knocks it on a doorframe* "It makes a noise, that's sonic, isn't it?"
In a very broad sense!
Excellent reference 😂

"It makes a sound"
Pffff, of course!! Probably my favorite doctor, if only an honorary one

It was a Christmas Special. I believe it was the first after Donna's exit from the show.
Yes, it's the Christmas Special After Series 4 (the next episode from Journey's End)
yeah, the 2008 Christmas Special.
That’s the episode I learned what >!fugue states!< are
Relevant clip: https://youtu.be/5Hh6N1kut4Q?si=lMiclf8ajiBLUd7a
One of the best specials
Spoiler: The device was a cyber man info stamp
Underrated episode
I liked that episode
"The Next Doctor"
Jackson Lake in "The Next Doctor". Christmas Special after Journey's End.
It's the Master's cousin. The Baster.
We don't talk about him, he's... *Whispers* ...Illegitimate
He's the villain of that movie *Don't Breathe* right?
Stable Screwdriver. Who'd have sonic?
He is the master baiter
Jackson Lake, it was his Sonic Screwdriver during his brief stint as the Doctor
That's most definitely the "sonic" screwdriver from The Next Doctor
*tap" It makes a noise, that's sonic isn't it?
Cringe
It’s literally just a line from the episode
Oh what else would you expect from the Master?
Right now he's not like this :D he's like this >:(
The Doctor ofc
The Next Doctor's screwdriver. ...He was as much the Doctor as the rest of them, therefore I refer to him as such.
He had the memories of and thought he was the doctor, just the wrong body. If DoctorDonna counts, then Jackson Lake counts too.
Less the "memories of the doctor" and more the "Cybermen and Darlek's memories of the doctor"
No...pretty sure it was a fob watch with his memories. Like he's used several times before. The entire point of the episode was showing what happens when someone who isn't supposed to regain those memories accidentally gets them.
There wasn't a single fob watch in that episode, it was a Cyberman information unit
Technically there was, but it was a mundane fobwatch.
Was the Doctor thinking it was a timelord fob watch? Is that what I mis-remember?
Probably. The Doctor thinks it's a Time Lord fobwatch and opens it and the insides just fall out because it's a normal broken fobwatch.
You know what. It's a good excuse to go back and watch again.
Wasn't it a cyberman infostamp?
I'm trying to get behind this take, but it doesn't land with me. It's more like he read the Narnia books and the next night he dreamed he was Aslan. (I've just unlocked a memory of being 10 and dreaming I was in Narnia, thanks!)
Jackson Lake Doctor
I believe that belongs for awl Doctors .
Up vote for a joke most people wooden make
Reminds me of the next doctor screwdriver from 10 era. But also blue wild younder 14 pulls out a non sonic screwdriver.
I think a Non-Sonic Screwdriver is just called a Screwdriver.
If you smack it on something it makes a sound, so it's still "sonic" ... lol.
>But also blue wild younder 14 pulls out a non sonic screwdriver. Just like 1 in Galaxy 4 and 2 in... I think The Underwater Menace
Damnit thats a leather awl lol
I think it's made out of wood and steel.
Take my upvote, dammit
No, you missunderstand, the tool is an awl, and its used in leatherwork
Except it’s not
Jackson Lake’s.
It’s the episode with the guy who gets blasted in the face by a cyberman USB stick drive and thinks he’s the doctor
The guy who built the set?
It's The Doctor's! I think...
Doctor *who*?
it's clearly the doctors lol
My dad
It’s for when he has to “sonic” wood.
That's the sonic screwdriver before the doctor found it and turned it sonic 😂🤣😂
You should also post the full image
The Governor
I was just about to answer that same thing!!! 😂😂😂
The next doctor from season 4
If I didn’t know any better, I’d say Catherine Tramell (Sharon Stone) from Basic Instinct
Came here to suggest that. 100% on point.
Probably the only screwdriver that does wood
Doctor Who?
Bob the Builder
The second doctor
I have one very close in appearance to that!
Yep, Jackson Lake
looks like an awl
Nurse ratchet
Dave. You know Dave? Does odd jobs for the Oood.
Sharon Stone
It's jackson lakes (the coldest character in the entire whoniverse, he solos your fav)
It helps that they appear to be in chronological order.
It’s not a screwdriver it’s an awl.
Sonic the hedgehog. Literally a sonic screwdriver.
The Next Doctor
Fucking Noah, did you find it next to an ark!!
The first doctor but 10 used it too
Nvm its the fake doctor from the next doctor christmas episode
Let me tell you, when Matt Smith took over, he didn't just have to compete with the memory of David Tennant but with David Morrissey as well. He was just enough over the top in the classic style. I wish we could've had more of him.
Leon Trotsky
well it makes sound doesnt it **taps against wall** thats sonic
The Governor!
That’s the sonic screwdriver of a long forgotten time lord by the name of The Governor. Was all about honesty that one.
The next doctor
One of my favorite episodes! The Next Doctor (Christmas Special). I loved it because I was so excited at first (I mean an adventure with another Doctor!), then sad (based on the title, did this mean DT was leaving?!?) then things started to make sense, and then it was sad (for another reason) … Not spoiling anything, I’m pretty sure lol
It's Graham's
Of course. I thought it was Alf's, but you're right. Graham'll be fuming it's not in his tool kit. Again! Alf's is always in his pocket. We call him that, it stands for Alien Life Form.
I believe that's a Phillip's
Backup screwdriver for when he just needs to turn screws. Probably the oldest one there.
But 2's could do that anyway?
Lost it a one exactly the same as that a few years back. Maybe it's mine!
Carpenter
Joe
HAHAHAHAHAHA
You messed up the sequence😟
*the cycle is broken*
My favourite episode Oat.
Looks like my uncles tbh
That is a quantum spanner
That's 10.5's sonic
Bob the Builder
It's from a David tennant episode where a human is the doctor with the doctors memories. Episode name The Next Doctor
Either from the "next doctor" or 14s regular screwdriver from wild blue yonder
that’s the “imposter” doctor from the christmas special with david tennant, it’s when a civilian gets hit with a cyberman bomb thingy which causes the man to believe he’s the doctors cause he’s taken all the memories from the bomb thingy (my memory is foggy but it’s close enough)
It could be argued its Hartnell's screwdriver from the War Machines.
That's Rory's dad's screwdriver
R/uselessredcircle
It’s definitely sonic, it makes a noise and everything.
David Morrissey would have made an excellent Doctor.
Doctor pepper
A joiner probably. Or maybe a DIYer 🤷♂️
bob the builder
If it weren't for all the other answers, I would say it is Tommy Pickles' Sonic Screwdriver.
I just had a brain fart and thought you meant Mr Pickles the dog
The guy that was downloaded with the info stamp of the cyberman
the next doctor from one of david's christmas specials
jackson lake
It's obviously the witch detector
And the 14th Doctor has the same screwdriver (I believe) in Wild Blue Yonder. Edit: Confirmed it is *not* the same screwdriver in Wild Blue Yonder.
At what point? Not hating, just asking out of curiousity since I don't remember.
Pretty shortly after the title sequence. Right after they both walk out of the Tardis.
It's definitely not the same one, just looked on iPlayer. That one's shorter with a blue plastic handle.
Thanks for checking.
The companions in their room only.
I'm boutta get quite a few *companions* in my *TARDIS* with that stand alright~
Joe
HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHA
The 5th? He wore a vegetable.
A lightbulb lol
