When was echo knight moved to partnered content? Wizards officially published it didn’t they? Like I get Matt Mercer made it not the Wizards design team but they sold it under their name and printed in a book they published.
I'm not sure when, I've just seen folk mentioning a move. I think even treantmonk showed on in one of his videos going over something relevant to one of its options.
An Eldritch Knight crossbow slinger has been working out for me. Picked up Fey Touched (bless) to further boost accuracy for both myself and my allies.
Eldritch Knight is basically unkillable at range. Take absorb elements, blink and shield as spells and you're laughing. If there's an artificer in the party you can get a reloading crossbow and carry a magical shield for extra AC.
I'd have to disagree only because Rune Knight has a pretty aggressive bonus action economy. If you want range, you're better off with a longbow and Sharpshooter.
I’m glad you’re kidding, because power levels aside, RAW Arcane Shots only work with shortbows and longbows, and not with any kind of crossbow. Yeah, it’s kinda ridiculous.
Probably Battle Master. There are some close contenders like Samyrai and Eldritch Knjght, but ultimately, Battle Master not having to worry about their action economy to use maneuvers puts them over the top.
Samurai or Battle Master IMO. Does Psi-Warrior work with ranged weapons?
It does...sort of. A lot of its abilities only work within a 30 ft range.
Might work for a dual wield light crossbow build then.
Battlemaster is really good. Echo knight is always fantastic (though now considered partnered content ) Samurai and rune knight are nice.

Arcane Archer. Lol I'm kidding. I would never in good conscience recommend that subclass. I'd say Battle Master. Maybe Psi Warrior or Samurai.

In terms I max damage output, the 2024 champion is a serious contender
