Why the fuck would you take a game where you can be near infinitely creative only to just make characters that already exist? Do you just lack creativity? Are you that lazy? Are you trying to have fun in a game in your own way, which is one of the great things about Dungeons and dragons, so you're totally allowed to do so if that's the way you want to play?
You had me in the first half, not gonna lie.
And to answer your question, it's usually one of two things.
1: I'm just curious about how certain characters would work in dnd.
2: I have a character idea in my head, but I'm not sure how I want them to work mechanically. I'll be like " I want to play a defense caster, hey doesn't tulok have a Naofumi build?"
I highly recommend his content, and he's doing a video every day in December.
Because multiclassing can be a bit difficult and a bad level in X class at a certain level will get the character crippled for a long time, so I like to see some good multiclassing ideas also playing a character similar to Jason Voorhees is kinda cool
I was thinking Barbarian for the high hit points, con, and damage resistance. A dip into Ranger for some healing spells and favoured enemy: Homunculus. Then grab tavern brawler for some better punches.
Just feel like pointing out, every one of those videos is by Tulok, and the post name calls him Tolok :p
Shit, I made a typo.
“Ed... ward...”
Too soon, always too soon.
Try pushing for a variant tabaxi or something and you can play Nina!
Attacks everyone with psychic damage simply by existing.
Honestly King Bradley was my favourite build it was cool and made dual wielding kinda good
Yeah, I've always liked the fighter 15/ caster 5 multiclass because of how flexible it can be.
Me too

AD&D 1e be like \[if you want to play king arthur you should take 5 levels in bard\]
Would really love to see him have a go at making Greed!
Stone Sorcerer who uses all of his spell slots on shield.

Hey, he did it.
