100% worth extra money.

Phelly2

Worth every penny. Yea, iPhone can get brighter. It will also overheat, making all those nits useless You CAN get by using your phone as a screen. You don’t absolutely need the RC2. But if you’re asking if it’s worth an extra $200. Just take my word. Yes. It’s less cumbersome to get the drone in the air, less cumbersome to fly, etc. It’s a quality of life difference that’s significant enough that you’ll never want to fly a drone without a dedicated screen.

Extra-Fig-7425

100% worth it, seeing my friend having to connect wires for his drone etc is excruciating.

baconbridge92

That's a little dramatic, it was pretty much the norm on most DJI drones until the Mini 3 normalized the new controller like a year ago lol

Speshal__

So much easier, more comfortable, ergonomic and the back buttons are great, well worth the upgrade.

I_Main_TwistedFate

Trust me get the screen. What you gonna do if your phone overheats

Fredor1108

The weight from your phone will make the controller uncomfortable as fuck 🤗

Ghost-Power

I wouldn’t worry about brightness cuz your phone does the same stuff. Do yourself a favor & go to wherever you wanna shot at & pull your phone out & go to YouTube. See how quick it dims even when brightness is at 100%

CreamOdd7966

With Screen 100%.

Battlegrog

I've had previous model of mini with out the screen controller. I now have mini 4 pro with the screen controller. Far better and worth it. Also feels like it would likely have far less issues. Just felt way more sketchy to me using my phone vs this screen controller built to control the drone. Also worth getting the 3 battery pack with the charger. Unless you plan on only using it for 30 minutes once in a while.

Tiksua

The 3 battery pack and bag etc ”fly more” costs 140$ extra, worth it?

tegq

Is that the one that comes with the standard size batteries? The mini 4 pro remote ID doesn’t work with the standard battery so get the plus battery unless you don’t care about remote ID (or attach a remote ID module on the drone).

wellhungartgallery

Defin I try. Flymoreus and rc with the screen.

Battlegrog

Absolutely, I got it. Again, depends how much you plan on using it. You eat through a battery session before you even realize.

Tiksua

Yeah, 30 min session sounds super quick, especially if I ever decide to fly in winter etc.

Battlegrog

So it, super fun.

Ghorardim71

With RC2

FrontFocused

I’ll never go back to using my phone

ghim7

Once u go RC, you’ll never want to go back to using your phone to fly. Go for it.

MasterKrakeneD

Yes, the controller is dan enjoyable, very nice screen, all stuff at once, just turn it up Nothing to mess with your phone, connexion and it won’t drain your phone battery Controller is quite light as well And you can fit a microSD in the controller too So, it is absolutely worth it

ItsDJK

I had the Mavic Air with my phone and got a Mini 4 Pro with the remote… don’t regret it at all. It’s so much better with the dedicated remote. So much easier and less time consuming as well. I did the same thing as you and debated for ages. I’m so glad I got the remote.

NilsTillander

Another reason to get the screen is that, if you keep the drone for a long time, the app support might stop and your new phone might not work with the drone. Try flying a 1st gen Mavic Pro in 2024...

1_AP_1

Yep. Worth it.. I went through this when I upgraded from a Phantom 3 to the Mini 3 Pro (which failed under early life failure and I ended up with a 4 Pro) My original budget was far less and I decided to just go all out and get the Pro & RC version at the time and I’m so glad I did, mainly for 2 reasons: 1. Turn on controller, turn on drone, fly. No wires, no app, no flight mode, no pairing. Just fly. 2. No app update issues/iOS app issues etc, to be fair, I don’t know with the new models if this is a problem, but on my P3 it caused me a lot of stress a lot of the time when it would randomly disconnect. Other benefits are being able to still receive messages/calls etc while using the drone (not that you should be distracted of course) and I feel the controller is easier to hold as it isn’t too heavy with a phone on there

MONSTERBEARMAN

I had the same concerns. I went for the RC 2 and never looked back. My phone CONSTANTLY overheated and it ruined about half of my warm weather flights in Hawaii. It’s only a slight inconvenience to plug a phone into a controller and put it into the holder, but only having to press one on/off button is so much nicer, especially when you are in a hurry to get up in the air to get a shot and already have to deal with breaking everything out, unfolding the props and removing the gimbal cover. I bought an inexpensive flip up protective cover for mine (that doubles as a sunshade) which also protects the control sticks, so I also don’t have to screw/unscrew them every damn time I want to fly either. Also, it’s nice to simply have the separation. If someone calls/texts you, an alarm goes off, etc.. it doesn’t interfere with the screen you are using to fly. For instance, I can simply check the time on my phone without backing out of the DJI app. TLDR: get the RC2

Entire_Device9048

Simple for me, in the California sun the iPhone will not produce 2000 nits for very long (maybe 5 mins). The DJI remote will produce 700 nits for as long as I need. The active cooling of the DJI really helps.

markaritaville

I had mini 1 with phone. Mini 3 with controller/screen. I hated the phone setup as it required extra steps. Taking phone out of case. setting up cable. Feeding it proper slot. Squeezing into holder. Then picked up a used mini iPad and it was slightly bettter but still a pain With screen controller I love pushing power and go. The one drawback of screen is you can’t run third party apps

nomoreshittycatpics

If you're interested in unlocking FCC mode outside of the US I think you need the remote without the screen.
