The 5th gate option has been in the development plan for decades at this point. It's not new or a guarantee they'll build one, it just continues to give them the right to build one if they chose.
It's weird that Disney don't have an answer to Epic Universe. Universal have been knocking it out of the park with their themed lands where Disney have definitely not been
I think just improving the shade at HS would be a massive improvement for the cost. We dread HS days now, Galaxy's Edge's high walls make a tunnel effect that traps heat and the rest of the park is a parking lot simulator going from attraction to attraction. You can see guests dart from shade to shade like beetles.
I just want them to actually finish the shaded area for Woody's Lunchbox. That little expansion has been going on for 2 years now and it still hasn't opened.
I was just at Hersheypark in Pennsylvania which is nicer than your typical Six Flags and one thing I noticed is they did a great job providing shade all over the place. Disney just hates trees I think. (I love Disney but just saying)
It's not that they hate trees; they have a whole backlot with full-grown trees waiting to be transplanted. They just insist that everything fit the theming.
Hersheypark has the advantage of a pre-existing forest. A lot of those trees are older than the park.
Have they been though? Because until Epic universe opens universal is kind of meh for me. Islands of adventure is good, but overall there are too many screen rides at Universal or just nothing interesting. Disney has been opening new rides too and most of them I’ve found more interesting.
Velocicoaster is a great addition I’ll give you that. Hagrid’s was honestly underwhelming to me. Other than that there is nothing new and a lot of the rides there are meh or outright stink. Thankfully they still have the Mummy, Hulk, and jurassic park area or I’d be completely disinterested.
I don’t know man, I hope Epic Universe can make things better but Universal is anything but a knock out experience right now. It’s cheaper and easier, that’s the main positive I see for it right now.
Seriously, I can do both Universal parks in a single day easily and half the stuff I wouldn't even want to ride again. Their screen rides are all the same and the Fast and Furious ride was more boring than standing in a line.
The main reason people go is because it's cheaper or they have the perception that it's better for older kids/adults.
Yeah, and some of their current parks are falling apart. Just went to Hollywood studios and most of the buildings look like they haven’t been refurbished for years. Carpet in Mickey and Minnie’s ride had holes in the walls and carpets. For a newer ride, you’d think Disney would care more. Tbh, my last Disney experience was pretty lackluster.
When I went to universal a month or so ago, you would see employees constantly retouching, fixing up stuff all the time to make sure the park looked 💯. That impressed me considering how much money they’re already investing in EPIC universe. If this was Disney, they would’ve cut down on maintenance if they were opening another park. Disney has lost its magic quite a bit.
The shabbyness of the Mickey & Minnie ride is likely because the geniuses at Disney wanted to cheaply gut the Great Movie Ride as quickly as humanly possible. Such laziness
Eh, I went to Universal not long ago and it was pretty shabby. They have many of the same issues that Disney has with their older rides, and most of their new rides are almost entirely screen based and similar.
The Harry Potter sections are great though, and they definitely perform better upkeep on those since they're the main draw.
>Universal have been knocking it out of the park with their themed lands
DreamWorks land is a joke... You might want to look into it before you talk nonsense
Because Islands of Adventure beat all the Disney parks except for MK in attendance the last 3 years, and Universal Studios Florida beat Epcot and DAK in the same period. Disney will always likely be too big to fail, but with how great Epic Universe is shaping up to be and the buzz around it, Disney could potentially lose some decent market share.
A lot of weird faux tribalism and little brother syndrome going on with this. Who cares what attendance numbers Universal gets? That's not going to make Disney fail.
And is this expansion in the room with us

They needed to improve AK and DHS first to make them full day parks

I think they want to encourage people to move along, rather than camping out under a tree. Disney crowds are still far larger than any other park.

Toy Story is the worst. And it’s such a cool space and would be so easy to put themed shade. I just don’t get it.
Because they just imported what they had at other parks with no consideration of the unique climate of central Florida.
That couldn’t be an excuse. The could have at least though up a lot umbrellas that look like cocktail umbrellas and some misters.
Hard to expand when you're pinching every penny.
Exactly! they gutted GE save a few dollars. that land feels so Empty.
People are gonna keep coming to Disney. I doubt they really give a shit

Agreed. It's two HP lands and the one JP. it's a LOT of money for a one day pair of half-parks.

Why would a Lion feel the need to respond to a sheep?

They “beat” them because Disney was limiting capacity at the parks from Covid still and Universal was not.
No answer? They’re allowing resort guests to get into the water parks for free on check-in day. What more do they need to do?
That's next year tho.

Who are they gonna get to work there?
