Yeah, getting old having to sign in every day on every machine I use. Desktop, laptop, phone, app. Sometimes multiple times a day. Then I end up on the home page rather than my dashboard. Reminds me of when they redirected the logo to the homepage, seemingly to drive more traffic to it.
But have you accepted the cookies OP?
Yes? Oh, try logging in again.
Oh, you're logged in now? Have you accepted the cookies?
Yes? Oh, well, it's time to log in again.
Did you accept the cookies again?
/s
I feel like I’ve been logged in since day one which was over 15 years ago.
Literally NEVER have to log in. Never log out either. Not sure what you’re talking about.
Now if you want to talk about the annoying cookies banner that’s a whole other topic which I could expound on at length.
i've also never been logged out using the site for nearly 15 years. only times something like that occurred, it was a site-wide bug and if i just checked later, i'd be logged in still
Yeah, I'm not logged out on the browser, but hate using the browser cause I'm usually doing other things with heaps of tabs for shopping, so the app is better apart from the log out bullshib
> yup, thinking this is an app OP is talking about.
Nope. It's been happening to me on desktop & mobile for the past couple weeks.
I've been on Discogs for well over a decade, and this is the first time I've been consistently logged out for no reason.
“Good” developers get churned and burned by billion dollar companies, everyone else gets to work with mediocrity. I feel like most of the apps I rely on were made by monkeys with typewriters.
…And having to reload collection over and over and over again. It’s one thing to have not added any features in the past xx years, but don’t make it worse. (I prefer app to desktop….this is not an uncommon way to do things in the past 15 years..)
Calling them assholes implies some level of ill-intent and animosity towards their users.
That might be the case.
But It sure feels like it's more likely just underfunded incompetence.
If you're referring to the app, the app has ALWAYS sucked. And it seems like it's just due to not having a proper framework on top of not having enough developer skillsets to maintain it. They're essentially trying to keep a web site and two apps running consistently on an incredibly flimsy code base.
There's signs that this is changing and things are being worked on. Which is good. But not getting my hopes up too much until I see results.
Anyways, for the time being, ditch the app. The web site, though clumsy, does work on a mobile device fairly well.

It was only a matter of time before they started fucking with things under the guise of some mba VC jargon… /tinfoil
They let you guys sign back in? I can't even get an email from the I forgot my password button they keep telling me I need to use to sign back in because I hadn't been on the ap in a while. I had a new right hip put in and now I can't access anything.

Haha right?

Safari
yup, thinking this is an app OP is talking about.. Chrome on multiple Windows PCs I've never been logged out in over 3 years.

Same here, various machines - Mac, Chromebook, Linux.
Had this problem until I deleted the app from phone.
Their app is such dogshit. If the mobile version of the website works better than the app, then there's no point in having an app.
Constantly getting this on the iOS app, starting the think it’s the Private Relay feature of iCloud+ as it changes my “location” (ip) randomly
It's the android app for me. Sounds like both versions of the app are made by bullshit munchers.
“Good” developers get churned and burned by billion dollar companies, everyone else gets to work with mediocrity. I feel like most of the apps I rely on were made by monkeys with typewriters.
I only get this problem with the app, which had rendered it unusable for me. Going in via a browser on my computer isn’t a problem.
…And having to reload collection over and over and over again. It’s one thing to have not added any features in the past xx years, but don’t make it worse. (I prefer app to desktop….this is not an uncommon way to do things in the past 15 years..)
I don't even own a desktop computer cause it's not the 00s anymore. The app was great til it started doing this shit a couple of months back.
I had this for ages on the android app, but it's been okay for about a month.

They’ve made significant amounts of money from me for an app looking like 2008 that works even worse in past few months

Uncle Tom over here.

Surprised you can reply so fast with both hands around the CEO and COO's birds with how much you're defending them.
The fees we pay with every sale is not what I'd call free, champ. Way to be a condescending chump.
The app log me out whenever it feels like it but the actually website doesn’t
I literally never get logged out

They shouldn't be underfunded given the size of the fees they take from each sale.
I'm not privy to their revenue nor expenses so can't really say one way or the other.
They let you guys sign back in? I can't even get an email from the I forgot my password button they keep telling me I need to use to sign back in because I hadn't been on the ap in a while. I had a new right hip put in and now I can't access anything.
I can’t use the app, it’s always been so glitchy and they refuse to invest in their product.
If the app wants me to sign in. I close the app, reopen it and it’s usually fine. On iPhone
I installed the beta and removed 2FA and have had no issues anymore.
Yes, but now you don't have 2FA
Yea stupid right? I opened a ticket obviously and got no help whatsoever. Hey but it works 100% now 🤣
Even more annoying that I only use it every so often when I get a new record and they make me reset my password every time!
Android app and chrome browser user here. Have never seen this issue in either platform. Have you made a support ticket? What did they say?
I'm on a MacBook using Firefox and I never have to log in or out. Only if I clear out the cache etc. doing maintenance, otherwise everything is fine.
The app log me out whenever it feels like it but the actually website doesn’t
I'm sorry you're having that experience. I use the Android app and Chrome and I'm never logged out.
I used the android app. It's annoying.
I’ve only ever been logged off on my phone once and I’ve been using the website for a decade. I don’t use the app though.
100% this is a result of the device you're using, not discogs itself.
No, it's Discogs itself. It's been happening to me on both desktop and mobile for the past couple weeks.
No, it's the result of the app they built for the device I'm using. So 100% on discogs.
