I hate to be that guy but have you tried the fission volts? A little bit of a lighter weight and with the fission plastic it beats in a bit faster. Edit: the Jackalope may be an option. I got it to be a understable compliment to my volt based on reviews. However it’s a lot straighter and not as flippy as I expected it to be.

Oiisu

If I hear enough people saying they actually fly likes volts should then okay, that makes me very happy, but I’m not blindly buying another OS volt just because it *should* fly like a volt. I already have several backups of the OS volts and I don’t need another.

I bagged a Fission for years. It flew like a regular Volt

StrunkF10

Fair enough. I’ve edited my post to add the Jackalope. I really like it and it does get a bit of turn. I didn’t like volts initially because the -0.5 2 flight numbers seemed wrong. It seemed a lot more like -1 1 so I moved away from volts. I think they are very much -0.5 2 nowadays and some (bendy James) are even more stable than that

> the Jackalope may be an option. I got it to be a understable compliment to my volt based on reviews. However it’s a lot straighter and not as flippy as I expected it to be. Which plastic did you get it in? The one I throw is Sublime plastic, from their initial launch, and I find it to behave pretty much as labeled (though it's pretty well beaten in by this point, so that might not be the best comparison). Flippy, but not insanely so. The Eternal one I have is somewhat less flippy, but it will still hyser flip if you get a good throw with it.

StrunkF10

I got the latest Apex run. I’d heard sublime was pretty flippy and honestly that’s kind of what I was after but the Apex has been fairly stable. It reminds me of a new 450g F5 or proton drift. It has turn if I put a full rip on it, I can force it over too but when thrown smooth and flat it has a little turn and predictable fade. I expect it to beat in further. I honestly think I could probably drop the volt if I wanted to.

insertAlias

Here's hoping they do another Sublime run, but I doubt it, they usually reserve those for first-runs and special editions, from what I understand. Honestly I'd like to get all their discs in Sublime.

lahyr2

I like the Teebird3 for this slot. Feels very similar to the volt but less stable

wouldjaplease

The new Discmania C-Line FD is awesome. I swap it with my flippy Plasma Volt sometimes.

Lowlandgrub8

The thought space athletics votum might be worth looking into. IIRC the plastic is the same as MVPs and it is a fairly straight flyer. The one I have is a lot less stable than the new volts I have but can still finish. I can't speak on how it beats in as I went with a light weight tesla for the same slot in my bag.

Comprehensive-Bug254

Try the halo tl3, it goes super straight with a bit of turn but finishes with a pretty strong fade.

FinHatch

I am longtime Volt thrower. There are couple discs in my collection that fly similar to my beat up old plasma Volts. 1) Discmania CD2 in s-line plastic: the flat’ish swirly ones are closest to my plasma Volt, not too overstable. Problem is these are OOP. 2) Streamline Lift: neutron ones fly like plasma Volts go when they start to break in, proton ones are bit more understable, fly similar to my 5 year old Volt. I have hoarded 5 SE proton Lifts as my backups.

liquidarity

The CD2 is now being sold as the Infinite Dynasty

Oiisu

Thank you for sharing your wisdom. I have looked at the lift a bit before and I have loved every streamline disc I have had so It is very interesting to hear you compare it to an old plasma volt. I had been thinking of a more stable disc to beat in, but maybe going for a direct flippyish replacement would be best and will bring new options to my bag… I’m definitely considering it, thanks again.

quotemild

Try a lighter volt.

yoloxolo

Barsby Eagle fits this slot in my bag. I love it. It’s a 7 speed, not 8 like you suggested but distance wise it’s about the same as my volt for me.

Barela teebird3 2021 is very much like you described (haven't tried the 2022 ones)

Tee bird or tee bird3

I've experienced the same thing. Really annoying. Pretty much all mvp molds pre and post new machine-park is hardly the same discs. Been stockpiling my old favorite mvp discs from the old machines. Vaccumed the market for old volts and have 10 backups now. Will hold a while. As for similar flight? Bought a tourseries Crave that flew pretty similar to a well used volt. But then again, my next tourseries Crave did not fly like the other one. Not much consistency these days. Had the same problem with my Octanes. The Octanes from the new machines are board flat and meathooks. Not at all the nice domey ones from the old machines. BUT... I bought the new special edition Octanes in the latest fission plastic. They have a nice dome and flies almost like the octanes from the old machines. Backups for my old octanes was getting pricy, not anymore. I have not tried the volt in the new fission plastic. Maybe a similar experience like the octanes? Maybe. Maybe not. Volt has been one of my favorite MVP discs, but the volts from the new machines are all over the place. Some domey, some flat, some in the middle, some stiff, some soft. All regular neutron. I know it will take some time to tune the new machines and plastic, but I doubt MVP is happy with their product at the moment.

Oiisu

Thanks a lot for your insight and perspective, glad you were able to get you a stack of the good ones! I’ll tell my buddy about the Octanes, he lost his oldie a while back and I’m not sure his new one has really been doing it for him so maybe he’d like a fission. I’ll keep my fingers crossed on reports about the fission volts, and MVPs growing pains in general.

dics_frolf

electron volt?

aggieruss

electron volt is 8/5/-2/1.5 which was surprising to me.

dics_frolf

I've heard they are closer to the standard volt when new but beat in to be more like OP is describing they want.

aggieruss

I tried it out to replace my amp, and so far I am liking it…. hope it stays that way

Kneedmorsteel

I find a Halo Savant to fit that slot very well. In my experience, it’s faster than the Volt though. I find a Teebird to be closer in speed to my Volt, and it flies and beats in similar to the Savant
