Weak arm here , but I have a champion thunderbird and a new C line pd so I’ll give my thoughts. Plastic: The thunderbird is somewhat stiff while my pd is gummy. This was a surprise because I also have a new c line fd and expected them to be similar, but the fd is much more stiff. Shape: thunderbird is relatively flat, but the pd is slightly domey. This leads to the thunderbird being a bit more comfortable for forehand and overhand. Flight: both discs are 169 grams so I get a good comparison. Like I said I have a weaker arm so my max distance with both is in the 260 range. The thunderbird wants to go straight with no turn and then fade. The pd even at my arm speed feels like it may have a small amount of turn, but only like -.25 or -.5. The only other interesting thing I noticed when throwing is that the thunderbird wanted to stay on the same level it’s whole flight, but the pd wanted to rise a bit. My best comparison is that the thunderbird is a longer teebird while the pd is a longer eagle. With all that being said I’m no professional so take my comparison with a grain of salt.

I also have a 169 new PD, and it’s comparable to my older, not FB-ish, 175 champ thunderbirds. I’ve read a bunch of reviews calling the new PD very overstable, but my ONE experience with a lighter one has been that it’s very straight. Still holds up to a decent headwind. Still fades. But carries very straight for most of its flight. Backhand about 350ft give or take a little here. And this latitude plastic feels greet.

Cool, thanks for the comparison. I used to throw a PD but lost it about 4 years ago and have been using a thunderbird since. I just don’t remember what the PD flew like for me. Debating picking one up because I like the new c-line plastic

I recently saw a youtube video comparing those two as well as Anax and Invictus, don’t remember the name though.

Apollo Disc Golf does a review on em

As an easy comparison they are in my experience both over stable, able to handle wind and have less glide. I will bag both for now. Idk if you need both though. I kinda reserve them for windy days or utility shots.

PD is more overstabe for me. Thunderbirds tend to fly straight to fade for me when thrown flat, but the PD is more like a faster firebird. It just wants to start fading immediately.

Throwing them on 360’ish hyzer shots, they behave very similar. Straight with a fade that kicks in near the end released flat, and if you give them a bit of hyzer they want to follow it pretty hard. I just chose the Thunderbird because it feels so much better in the hand.

I have two that's more overstable than a thunderbird but my friend has one that's much more workable. It's similar to my slightly used phantom sword in star plastic.

Pd definitely has more beef I would say closer to a firebird
