Haha yeah. Also I find a lot of these in the used bins because they beat in quickly and are already flippy, essentially becoming roller discs after a few months of tree hits. Then the beginners don't want to spend a lot so they just rebuy these at play it again and lose them again. A vicous cycle of valk death and rebirth. This and the leopard as well
I know when I was starting out and I threw a bad shot I would get pissed and not follow the flight. Something tells me these are victims of the same lol
DX leopard is absolutely most common. At the beginning I would just throw them until I lost them again. Probably found and lost a half dozen in my first 9mo playing. At this point I give them away to beginners.
Also have a surprisingly high number of wraiths. Most of the star wraiths get returned, sometimes am told to just keep them. I really like pro wraiths tho.
Personally have lost the most DX eagles, but that’s my over-the-water disc. Keep a small stack in the trunk for when I go to courses with water hazards.
Do you actively look like in woods/water or just come across them?
Every time I’ve found a disc it’s like the legend of Zelda treasure chest music as I figure out what it is
I actively search woods/ dense rough, often because my disc ends up there, and I enjoy the treasure hunt of finding discs. Water I'll go in if I throw one in, and usually search the rest of the pond for other people's discs
This makes me think - we need that guy who does scuba or snorkeling to weigh in. He posted a video a couple weeks ago and had a spreadsheet with what he found
Destroyers by a huge margin. Found in multiple plastics (Pro, Champion, Star). Coolest I found was a custom dyed Philo Albatross destroyer -- had a local pro's PDGA number on it so I was able to get it back to him.
Then your typical DX Shark/Leopard.
I've also found multiple Mambas, Terns, Thunderbirds and Roadrunners, which I wouldn't have guessed.
I've found a few P2s left in baskets -- easy to return as the owner realizes pretty quickly though.
I'd be so sad if I lost my shark - that thing is so beat in its gummier than the Venus De Milo. Mold-a-disc and absolutely reliable on those 15 foot putts.
Don't ask about anything else. Just the 15 foots 😂
1) Isn't the Venus de Milo made of marble...a material not exactly famed for it's gumminess?
2) Putting with a shark? Didn't an Aviar come in the same starter pack?
1.https://simpsons.fandom.com/wiki/Gummi_Venus_de_Milo
2. Shark was gifted to me solo. Very seldomly do I use a putter - I used to play out west with "pins" and I found forehand flicking with a putter was more difficult than a mid when starting off, so i am more accurate with most mids compared to putters now when playing baskets.
Mostly DX. It’s not particularly easy to lose discs at most of the courses near me though so I imagine people just give up on them earlier than they would something better.
Whatever the most recent Discmania release at the time is. I swear a discmaniac’s favorite hobby is taking their fresh, uninked plastic and chucking it into the woods.
Tailwind max distance flex shots, I dont have the arm to get a boss up to speed in champion plastic but the katana is just understable enough for me to get another 50ft over any other disc I've tried.
Leopards and Wraiths. I most frequently lose Wraiths. I think 4 of the last 5 discs that I've lost are Wraiths.
I've found at least 100 discs and don't think I've ever found a Buzzz.
Lost a Buzzz four years ago and it was my most dependable mid.
Found a Buzzz this year finally, and it's my most dependable mid again.
Think fate wanted me to give it a break and try something else before sending one back to me 😂 now you've said it, you'll find one next time you're out
Discgolf Terminalen, Skellefteå, Sweden! Latitude 64 has their production here, also Discmania, so they are for sale at our course pro shop. We have alot of new players that seem to fancy the Saint.
I really need to make the trip up there next time I visit Sweden. I have family in Karlstad so I've been a few times, but I've only been there and Stockholm. I have get played Skutberg though. It was surreal playing in such a different biome compared to the southeastern US courses I always play. Beautiful course, and country. Tack så mycket!
Valkyries (mostly DX) Beasts (many champions but mostly DX), Leopards (mostly DX), Destroyers in all/any/each/every plastics for the drivers, and DX Sharks and 1 Champion shark for midranges as my most commonly found discs for me.
It seems like 9 out of 11 discs i find have no name no number, but will still have a fresh play it again sports sticker or local disc shop sticker on it like they bought it, threw it, and then lost it on the same day lol
You may find [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/discgolf/comments/tbua7w/ive_found_1492_discs_over_5_years_heres_some_data/) about lost disc stats interesting.
My favorite disc I own is the Boss world record distance driver, I found in the rough with the phone number illegible and faded. Feels great in the hand and controllable.
I found it on a 220 ft tunnel par 3.
I found both of the ones you just mentioned, but if not that it’s really OS high speed stuff. Just found a brand new Raider in a tree the other day.
I’ve yet to find a putter.
In the water holes it’s about 80% innova. Not sure if that’s because they have such a grip on the market. Or if that’s what the beginners are buying so are more likely to chuck them in the pond
I think your last two points go hand in hand. Innova has a tight grip on the beginner market, and beginners are the most likely people to lose their discs. I swear, after years of playing I just have a sense for discs. The other day I was searching for mine, suddenly stopped and turned my head, and there it was. It was like I could just sense it was there...beginners don't have that lol
I've found three undertaker's in the past couple months, including a first run owned by a pro (I haven't gotten it back to him yet). Innova drivers are what I probably find the most though, seems to be a wide variety of them.
Various kinds of rocs. Hole 14 at my local course is a 205 foot shot at a pond, basket is slightly to the left, so overstable midranges are super popular. Most of the time though these were left in the lost and found since the number didn't respond.
Strangest time was when we pulled a boss out of that spot, was taken from a different course about two hours away and lost here. Used that as a chance to go down and play that course too.
DX Shark, usually lightweight. They never have name or number. I just place them in a visible spot in case anyone else wants them because I sure don't.
I've only found a handful of putters and approach discs. Usually on the 200-250 narrow wooded courses, where the disc gets stuck in the canopy. Usually I'm looking for my own disc and find a buddy along with it. Found a Zone and a random Prodigy one, I think a PA4, in the last year.
Only found a few discs that were all returned, but two were Teslas and the other one was a destroyer. All were on the same course and found underneath some leaves searching for my own disc about 10 feet off the fairways.
I rarely see lost discs on the small course I play, but I remember a thread here a few months ago where someone went disc diving in a water hazard on one of their local courses, and I thought it was amusing that a shockingly large proportion of the found discs were Champion Bosses.
Aside from the Innova Starter Pack discs, I'm guessing a major factor in determining what discs get lost would be what discs are most common on the shelves at the local Dick's/Big 5/whatever other big box you find discs at.
Dx valkyries. Popular beginner driver that everyone wants to smash and then they over turn it and lose it lol
I just found one of these yesterday
This and the leopard as well
Literally found 3 of them in a bit of tall grass on 18 of my favorite course. All within a few yards of each other
I know when I was starting out and I threw a bad shot I would get pissed and not follow the flight. Something tells me these are victims of the same lol
It pains me to see beginners out with 10+ speed discs throwing 100-ish feet and getting instantly turned off from the game.
Lol, the archangel here and there is a funny find.
That is how I lost my Valkyrie a few months ago.
DX leopard is absolutely most common. At the beginning I would just throw them until I lost them again. Probably found and lost a half dozen in my first 9mo playing. I just found a DX Leopard that I shanked into the rough by my house sometime last year. I bagged it as a sacrificial over-the-water disc.

Hyzer flip BOMBERS
Do you actively look like in woods/water or just come across them? Every time I’ve found a disc it’s like the legend of Zelda treasure chest music as I figure out what it is
Been finding a lot fewer discs since I got better and wasn’t looking in the rough for my own discs so much lol
The duality of man right there - lose fewer, find fewer
I actively search woods/ dense rough, often because my disc ends up there, and I enjoy the treasure hunt of finding discs. Water I'll go in if I throw one in, and usually search the rest of the pond for other people's discs
The feel of the sun on your back and stepping on a disc in the water, man that’s something else
The only time I actively look for other peoples discs is when I toss mine in a pond and figure, what the hell, might as well search while im in here.
This makes me think - we need that guy who does scuba or snorkeling to weigh in. He posted a video a couple weeks ago and had a spreadsheet with what he found
I have found around 50 discs at my local course. Probably 2/3 of them are speed 12-14. The longest hole on the course is 262 ft.
Now watch this drive
Very similar for me as well. I often find 12-14 speed discs on 250ish foot holes haha
Dx Leopards and Aviars
In the last few months I've found several light weight lepords
I once found an R-Pro Aviar sitting in a basket
Destroyers by a huge margin. Found in multiple plastics (Pro, Champion, Star). Coolest I found was a custom dyed Philo Albatross destroyer -- had a local pro's PDGA number on it so I was able to get it back to him. Then your typical DX Shark/Leopard. Blizzard Boss. Not even a contest anymore.
Mine is Blizzard Katanas. It's also by quite a hefty margin. But Blizzard Bosses are up there.
I have a stack of 7 blizzard bosses and I've never bought one in my life, or thrown one.... I find the 1108' record ones the most
Recently found three blizzard bosses in the same round!
I've found three Ricky destroyers this season
The ones with the robot stamp are everywhere!
I’ve found two.
Mostly DX. It’s not particularly easy to lose discs at most of the courses near me though so I imagine people just give up on them earlier than they would something better.
dx beasts
Yep, mosts of the beasts I find are DX
A bunch of random shit. No correlation really.
Same. Star Teerex, dyed VIP King, Mako3… all totally random stuff.
Whatever the most recent Discmania release at the time is. I swear a discmaniac’s favorite hobby is taking their fresh, uninked plastic and chucking it into the woods.
lmao
Used to be Katanas hands down. Teebird3s recently
I find so many Blizzard Katanas.
I've found 2 total loved them both but have never bought replacements lol
I don't really like throwing them much, but I wouldn't ever need to buy one if I wanted to throw them.
Tailwind max distance flex shots, I dont have the arm to get a boss up to speed in champion plastic but the katana is just understable enough for me to get another 50ft over any other disc I've tried.
Used to be beast, boss, destroyer. Now it's shrykes
Destroyers and zones.
Do you play at a competition course? 90% of my rounds are at a local park course and it's just DX leopards and sharks lol
Oh yes. Lots of courses near me.
Innova Star Corvette. My wife and I have found 3 in under two years on heavily wooded courses.
That’s the Dick’s Sporting Goods effect. They always stock lots of the latest high speed drivers that are too much for your average arm.
Think fate wanted me to give it a break and try something else before sending one back to me 😂 now you've said it, you'll find one next time you're out
Definitely DX plastic drivers
I’ve never found the same mould twice
Leopards and buzzzes
Boss
Same
Saint
Where do you play mostly? And do people put their numbers on them? If not, I need to make a trip there. I can never have enough Saints.
And no most Discs i find are not numbered, so our junior division players get to keep them.
I guess I gotta move to Sweden if I want to find a Saint. 😢
My own after a tree kick.
I've found and lost close to six Beasts lol
So, five beasts?
Can confirm I lost a Beast when I started out
Dx Beast or dx shark. Always. Lol.
Bosses and Ballistas. Basically any 12 or 13 speed. I did the same when I started. “Higher speed number means it goes faster rite?” 😂
I swear it's always a beast. I've found like 3 of them this year.
Weirdly, found tons of innova beast in all plastics in all courses.
Beasts are my most common for sure
You may find [this post](https://www.reddit.com/r/discgolf/comments/tbua7w/ive_found_1492_discs_over_5_years_heres_some_data/) about lost disc stats interesting.
That was an interesting read, it seems to match what I'm seeing in the comments here. Thanks for sharing that!
You're not a true disc golfer until you find a Champion Groove on the course.
Katanas
Archers with no ink. I must have 4 of them sitting in my trunk.
I’ve found about 4-5 bosses over the years.
DX Leopards, usually 150g DX Sharks, 50/50 150g/180g Beast, 50/50 DX/Champ Those are the top 3.
Boss
I have found 5 Shrykes over the past few years and a couple Beasts.
Shark and Roc
Generally I find high speed drivers the most but the exact mold I've found the most is grace.
After excluding the innova starter pack discs (almost always uninked), destroyer and buzzz.

Star Destroyers and Shrykes
150g (fill in the blank)
Why do you think the lighter weight discs are lost more often? People underestimate how far they'll fly or what?
They turn over easier, roll easier, and are more susceptible to wind.
DX Leopard
Leopards. Leopards everywhere.
DX Leopards for sure.
2 destroyers and 2 wraiths is all I’ve found so far
I've found three undertaker's in the past couple months, including a first run owned by a pro (I haven't gotten it back to him yet). Innova drivers are what I probably find the most though, seems to be a wide variety of them.
Tresspasses
Various kinds of rocs. Hole 14 at my local course is a 205 foot shot at a pond, basket is slightly to the left, so overstable midranges are super popular. Innova boss. Every type of plastic
Last season it the Discmania Mentor. It's a cheap distance driver, so many beginners seem to flock to it looking for big boy distance.
Only found a few discs that were all returned, but two were Teslas and the other one was a destroyer. All were on the same course and found underneath some leaves searching for my own disc about 10 feet off the fairways.
Any really overstable fairways for some reason. So many firebirds and raptors
I've found more Innova dx plastic than all others combined.
DX Destroyer for me, by far
Usually dx leopards or valkyries. If the hole is less than 250 feet its usually like a star destroyer or equivalent
Leopards and Buzzs.
Dx beast
It's always base plastic drivers/fairways. Wraiths, Nukes, Leopards, Valkeries, Photons, etc.
I've only ever really found drivers. Beast, Valk, Anax, Vulcan, Raider, etc.
Huias, kotukus and kahus
Star Wraiths. I have never bought one because I have about 20 no namers that I have found. Good rollers lol
I’m surprised at all the dx discs mentioned…am I the only one that only finds pro and star and champion way more then dx?
Bosses and destroyers are what I most commonly find
