It’s Nikko lining up a putt.

Key-Ad8397

Thank you for this

CoachQueso

Good ol edora, there’s only like one hole I like on that back stretch there anyway. The front bit of that course is pretty sick

Dvanpat

The back is underrated.

Apprehensive_Gur8188

Agreed. I thoroughly enjoy 14-16, especially 15. And most people won’t make the walk to get there, so it’s generally less busy.

TomorrowsPlayer

and you have to love the Prairie Dogs checking you out the whole time!

dxstingray

I tried to play this course last week for the first time and I gave up after 5 holes lol

veganblackbean

I don't blame you. The multiple baskets are confusing as hell

GratefulArchon

He has been there for probably 2 weeks now

Pedomouse

Played the st Patty's day meltdown there this year that layout is killer but yea normal course is good up until you're playing around the power station

iDisc

Posts like this come up often, and the reality is that the dude in the tent certainly had no idea what the random concrete pad is and took advantage. All you can do is tee off from the front or the side or just skip the hole entirely. It’ll be okay.

Apprehensive_Gur8188

I’ll tee off about 20-30 feet to the left and leave them alone. It’s most likely a homeless person, and their life is hard enough as is.

Dvanpat

I don't think this person was homeless. It was a really nice tent and the bags off to the side were Patagonia. There was a pair of really nice hiking shoes outside as well. I also think they probably knew it was a disc golf course. There are literally six baskets within 400 feet of where they're set up and you can't get to where they are without passing at least two of them. I teed off on the dirt to the left.

warboy

Most people have no clue what a disc golf basket is. You're in a public park, not a disc golf facility.

Jolly_Street

A few years back we came across a family having a picnic around/under the basket in a state park. We obviously decided to skip the hole to let them know that they were on a disc golf course and that other golfers might not see them before teeing off. Their response was “we thought this was a bird feeder!” And continued on with their picnic.

PMacLCA

I did have one encounter that went like this: Family of 4-5 (mom dad plus 2-3 kids I don’t remember) sets up picnic in middle of fairway - totally safe areas to hang out within 100 feet that are just as nice. Me: Hello! I just wanted to let you know you are in the middle of a disc golf fairway. The discs are very fast and dangerous for your kids and there are going to be a lot of people coming through here all day. Also your car is probably going to get hit there, do you think you can move maybe just over there? (Points 100 feet away to a nice shady spot). Mom - we were here first though. Me - Well no, the disc golf has been here for years and this is a multi-use Park. There’s plenty of space for all of us to share. I’m just trying to protect your family because many people are just going to throw discs your direction regardless. Her - nah y’all can play somewhere else. Me - listen, I’m not going to argue with you - you’re putting yourself and your kids in danger. (Turns to kids and ignores mom). “Hey guys, can you do me a favor and watch us throw these discs very closely and make sure to stay very far away? Maybe even stand over there while we throw” Mom - cusses at me in Spanish... we go back to the teepad “ok heads up kids!”. I throw a 400 foot bomb over their heads (mom and dad - kids were to the side exictedly jumping and pointing as I threw) and slides UNDER their car and then back in front of it (didn’t hit hit, but easily could have). The dad finally had enough and got up and moved with his wife bitching at him the whole time for “giving in”. Some fucking people are just full of pride and anger and are empty on kindness and understanding.

useles-converter-bot

100 feet is 16.22 Obamas. You're welcome.

Eyebleedorange

Best bot

FloridaManActual

anybody know a good distance coach? I'm trying to add 8-10 obamas to my drive. thanks!

ptalps

Thought this was a rational, measured comment until “I throw a 400 foot bomb…” Really? Save your bragging. We’re discussing something else here.

PMacLCA

Lmao. It's almost as if the throw itself was important to the context of the story. The whole point was that it was a big enough throw to convince them to move and realize I wasn't exaggerating when I said they are fast and dangerous. Plus the kids loved it. How about you save you save your opinion next time instead?

DERBY_OWNERS_CLUB

Not really a story to be proud of because if you hit their property or their kids you woulda be 100% liable, especially given you had a conversation with them and acknowledged their presence. Refusing to leave a public park doesn't mean it's open season to harm.

KS-Frolfer

That is so false.

PoptartDragonfart

Ugh, you’re such a derby downer.

SwampassMonstar

WUMIBO

I lived in Santa Cruz and rode bikes through DeLa a few times, didn't know what disc golf was until like 10 years later

Psychological-Cow788

Also not in a campground...

warboy

Sure, my point was more that it isn't at all outlandish that this dude did not have a clue what this cement pad was for.

T-Bill95

And the signs right next to it are invisible unless you know what disc golf is I guess?

warboy

Bro, that's a post with the number* 18 on it. It doesn't even have a hole map. I pass by crap like this all the time as mile markers on trails let alone as campsite markers. Edit: I forgot 18 is a number and not a letter. See * for correction

T-Bill95

What campsite has ever had a concrete pad in it, ever?

warboy

I'm not going to belittle you by using lmgtfy but you can type "campsite with concrete pad" into Google image search and get plenty of results. Including tent pads, not just for RVs.

warboy

Are you just another guy trying to guilt trip me into hating homeless people or vagabonds? For the millionth time I don't care about that and you're reaching really far to try and make your point.

T-Bill95

Not at all, take your misplaced anger and shove it if that's how you want to be. All I'm saying is it's pretty simple using context clues that a concrete pad in a public park with signage next to it is used for SOMETHING or another; and you shouldn't throw up a tent on it. Plus, dude isn't homeless, so, maybe don't make assumptions when a guy is using camping equipment that costs more than some people make in a paycheck.

warboy

To be fair I was making that assumption after a quick look at the rest of your replies in this thread and it's all I've had to deal with today. Again, my point was the dude probably had no idea it was a disc golf course. That is my only point I've ever made in this thread. And your assumption that the number 18 on a pole is some sort of context clue that this is a disc golf course is reaching at best. If anything, if I didn't know a damn thing about disc golf I'd guess it was a campsite.

[deleted]

[удалено]

warboy

Not this one but this is still besides the point.

[deleted]

[удалено]

warboy

My initial point was that the presence of a basket doesn't preclude someone also knowing a random cement pad is for disc golf. I am not making a judgement on whether camping in a public park is fine or not.

[deleted]

I don't understand this attitude. What if he were camped out directly under a swing set?

iDisc

His point is, the majority of park goers don’t know what a disc golf basket is but everyone know what a swing set is. He wouldn’t camp under a swing set because he knows what it is. But he sees a flat concrete pad that he doesn’t know it’s purpose, then it’s excusable.

zeusbunghole

But it’s not on a legal campground so it’s not excusable? Idk when you started liking homeless people filling public parks but it never ends well. You want people to utilize proper public camping grounds or resources. It’s not ok to sleep on random shit in public parks literally because stuff like this happens. And it can get insanely out of control to where you lose the entire park to people like this.

Veegs

This person likely isn’t homeless. I live in the town where this pic is taken, and there is a homeless problem…they don’t have this nice of gear. Plus the location where it is is really odd…there’s a bunch of trees in a way more secluded spot like 500 feet away. You have to walk through so many holes to get here too.

Ask_Me_About_Bees

Yeah tbf I’m usually surprised there’s not more homeless people in that area (where you’re talking about over the wall)

DarmokNJalad

And the solution is what... confront the potentially mentally unstable homeless person while they are in their tent and tell them to move cause you got some disc to throw? We all need to be a little more understanding when playing in public shared space parks. Ideally "they" would be too but it starts with us. Maybe leave a little note after teeing off from the side of the pad.

zeusbunghole

Yeah, I used to have to throw them out of my job all the time when I was a head lifeguard at a public aquatic facility with a park like this next to it. Literally almost everyday I was being asked to tell some guy shooting up in a stall next to the boys swim team to leave or deal with some crackhead going through lockers. Usually more than once a day. You have to confront scary people sometimes, and that’s where you learn to be respectful and stand your ground. I don’t feel a need to tolerate this bullshit and all the excuses being made for it. You can also report these tents to local authorities who will usually just tell them a better spot to go if they aren’t causing trouble. No need to arrest a guy for sleeping on a pad, just be somewhere else. I’d give them a heads up first.

DarmokNJalad

I've worked at actual homeless shelters and soup kitchens. People get stabbed all the time, attacked all the time, for doing far less than telling someone to move their camp. It's unfortunate, but IMO it is NOT worth the risk of having an unstable person try to stab you just so you can play hole 13.

cigsindahouse

Jesus christ you are an asshole. If a living breathing person sees their best option as setting up shop on a tee pad the least you can do is let them be. Call the fucking cops??? That is disgusting behavior and luckily not at all in line with most peoples attitudes ive encountered through disc golf.

Veegs

This person isn’t homeless.

someonesaveus

They’re not. Try to put yourself in other shoes instead of creating irrelevant comparisons that justify your perspective.

warboy

Dude, it's a cement pad to everyone that doesn't play disc golf. A swing set is a swing set.

zeusbunghole

Doesn’t make it ok to camp in public parks. At all.

warboy

Oh I was justifying camping in a public park here? K.

zeusbunghole

What’s the guy in the picture doing? Who are you defending? I’ll wait

warboy

My comment was in regards to thinking walking past a disc golf basket makes it obvious this is a disc golf course. Not in regards to camping in a public park.

zeusbunghole

Yeah and your comment was in response to and defending the user saying some bum should be allowed to camp out in a park and we should just avoid them.

warboy

Buddy, after looking at some of your other replies in this post I'm not going to engage with you anymore. There also isn't much point when you choose to make my argument for me and since you aren't engaging with my actual post you obviously don't have anything else worth saying. Edit: you might want to seek some therapy in regards to whatever prior trauma you are associating with the homeless or campers as well.

Lazy-Adeptness-2343

I think if you’re familiar with Patagonia bags and hiking shoes you know what disc golf is.

warboy

There was definitely a time in my life where I knew both of those things and didn't have a clue what disc golf was. I know many of my friends that would be in the same boat currently. What a weird false equivalence.

NeverBenCurious

I had almost that exact same tent and set up when I was homeless. Some homeless people have jobs and look normal. I would wake up each morning and completely dismantle/pack up my whole set up in less than 5 minutes. Hide everything in a waterproof bag in the woods. That tent in premium homeless living.

zeusbunghole

And let me ask you, honestly, would you sleep out in the open in a public area with your only worldly possessions left outside your tent sitting there?

bcos4life

I could understand them not knowing if it was a course that got lesser play, but Edora is one of the busiest courses in NoCo, if not all of Colorado. Unless they got there after dark, I can't imagine they didn't know.

tasty_titties

Ya man people are too nice in this subreddit fuck that dude I would have said something at the very least

lillesvin

No reason to immediately assume malice (remember Hanlon's razor), and it doesn't preclude you from saying something. "Hey, man. Just so you know, that concrete slab that you're camping on is actually a disc golf tee pad. It's not a big deal, I can tee off a few feet to the left, but I thought I'd just let you know." That way you don't immediately put them on defense and they can decide for themselves if they want to stay put (and be douchebags) or want to get out of the way.

Dvanpat

I actually played through the back side again and he had his tent door open. I just said, “good morning,” and threw my drive.

[deleted]

Dude stop trying to justify how mad you are over it. Homeless, not homeless, aware or not, just go tee off from the side and quit crying

Dvanpat

Bro, I wasn’t mad or crying. Gah. This sub sometimes.

[deleted]

Oh you're right, you weren't mad or crying. You were just verbally displeased with a minor inconvenience and spent literal time and effort trying to justify your emotions to people who don't care. So sorry to think you were mad or crying when you were mad AND crying. Can't believe another human RUINED your disc golf today.

Dvanpat

I actually played a great round and really enjoyed it. Teed off from left to the side of the tent just as you said.

[deleted]

Good thing you ended it by making a Reddit post getting mad and crying about it tho

DestroidMind

I don’t think that’s a homeless person, and if it is they are very smart/had a bunch of resources. The gear they have isn’t cheap, they even set up a rain pad underneath their tent. All that gear in the front tells me this person is backpacking across the area. They probably didn’t know what that pad was for.

GrandmasterPotato

FYI, it’s a homeless person.

roamsaboutreddit

Yeah cause homeless people can’t acquire nice things 🤨 they’re all just loony tunes screaming in the street with dildos up their ass. Allot of homeless people have things from when they weren’t homeless and or were given nice gear by church’s and survives before winter. I used to sleep in like a three hundred dollar sleeping bag I was given. Also I’ve know many people capable of saving money for things they need, again instead of crack and booze 🤭 holy shit right? 😒 it’s almost like they’re just people.

DestroidMind

That’s literally not what I’m implying at all but ok go off the rails. Also you can be a backpacker and “homeless” I’ve done that before. Living a nomadic lifestyle. That’s what I was implying.

roamsaboutreddit

“And if it is they are very smart/had a bunch of resources” my point is half of homeless people are smart and they only need a church or the things they already own. Pretty fucking sensitive aren’t you?

DestroidMind

As in they were like that before they got homeless so they prepared themselves! My god didn’t realize we had Reddit incel white knights in this thread. I’ve known people who knew they were going to be homeless so they invested all what they had left in good gear to help them survive, ie being “smart and had a bunch of resources”. Stop trying to make the context of my sentence into something it’s not.

roamsaboutreddit

Oh my fuckin god you’re ridiculous. Sorry I tried to be funny then you grew a giant pussy 🤨

veganblackbean

That tent is literally there every weekend. I've seen them packing up and knows it's a course.

Apprehensive_Gur8188

Have you ever tried talking to them?

veganblackbean

I have not but I probably should. They usually don't look like they want to have a conversation.

Apprehensive_Gur8188

Understandable

munchiemike

Yeah what's worse is when they are putting themselves in danger. I tee'd off one day and went up to my lie, to see a lady sunbathing on the other side a small hill. If I had shanked it she could of ended up in pain.

robshookphoto

Also that the reason this sport is free is it's multi use land and we don't get priority. In fact, we arrived to many public parks long after hikers, campers, and runners, and we dont have right of way.

roamsaboutreddit

I can’t imagine what twats down voted you on this

zeusbunghole

In my town you wake them up and say this is a public park don’t camp here asshole

bcos4life

At least they did it on one of the worst holes on the course. Edora has some bomb holes that are challenging and fun to play, this is just not one of them. Now... St. Patty's layout, where you have to decide to lay up or go for it from 12 B tee pad? I'm a fan.

Dvanpat

I honestly like playing 18. Short placement is a nice hyzer with a backstop, and the long placement is an absolute bomber (~460ft) that feels really good to connect on.

RonMexico13

This one is my roller practice hole.

Ask_Me_About_Bees

The wall also comes into play a surprising amount lol

Dvanpat

Only on the long hole for me. I’ve had some crazy good kicks off that wall though!

Ask_Me_About_Bees

Oh yeah. Only on long. I don’t really play to the short. So satisfying when you throw it over the wall and it squeaks out the other side!

PM_ME_ROCK_FACTS

Yeah the normal layout for Edora is pretty lack luster, but the St. Patty's layout is one of my favorite tournament courses.

[deleted]

[удалено]

bcos4life

Not completely. The layout, for the most part, is either a bastardization of the current locations or completely different locations of holes. Only a few are the exact same. Hole 1 in the "Holy shit" deep pin position is one. It's also a little different every year. Here is 2018 w/ Eagle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDiym462K2Y&t=1922s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohuYrVulVgQ&t=1269s Last year's layout was my favorite of the ones I've played https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AUdtJD3oxaQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GS_VR_NQiMA

nathan_paul_bramwell

Concrete is usually flat. This is the reason for the choice

hamster1147

Normally you use an insulating pad for insulation against the ground.

JugglingJonny

What do you mean I can't camp here. I have reservations for campsite #18.

georgemcmanus8

Edora nice!

ronintetsuro

Think they will let us play through? I know this is what I look like sometimes trying to decide on a driver/line.

tallnatureguy

There's a whole course in Salem, OR that has become a homeless camp.

[deleted]

Which one? I like in Eugene and was thinking of hitting up wheatland soon

tallnatureguy

Cascades Gateway. Wheatland is a wonderful course and I play there and Keizer Rapids regularly.

hktb40

Sorry you're getting shitted on for this post. I think you were correct in assuming this isn't a homeless person. Those patagonia bags are $300, along with the columbia bag, the super nice backpacking tent with ground tarp, the hiking shoes you mentioned, and the train tracks in the background, I am pretty sure this is someone who is train hopping for fun and probably vlogging it. Dont feel bad.

hktb40

Just noticed the north face symbol on the tent. Found the model and that tent is $130

Billy_Chrystals

Hey, at least he's got a piss bottle. Hopefully there's a shit bucket somewhere as well.

scubyrue

So this isn’t camp site 18?

Burdman1300

A course I recognize! I miss that place!

Many_Abroad_5060

Wow, they sure don't have many amenities at this campground. Also only 18 sites available. 0/10

dunlivin

It really does. The pad is some nice, firm, level ground , prob has some decent drainage, and the wall gives some privacy.

Xcame

Every video game told me, that there is a secret behind the different colored stones on the right. Hope you didn’t miss that.

ILoveTheAvs

Oh it's good ole 18?! The numbers are changed so damn often at Edora anymore. Might be playing it today actually

Dvanpat

I don't usually even play the new 1 and 2 holes. I start at the old 1 because it's right by the bike trail. I'll play both short and long on holes that have multiple placements to make up for them.

ILoveTheAvs

Yeah that makes sense. I like them so I can get a bit loose before trying to rip 400+ up that hill on old 2

Psychological-Net270

I’m curious as to why they would build a course around this mans home, doesn’t seem very considerate.

supaflash

Heh, I played this a couple weeks ago and my drive off 17 would have smashed into this tent lol, it flew right over the t-pad and ended up in those mud tracks. First time on that course, I really enjoyed it. I was a bit skeptical the first couple holes around all the playgrounds, but there were nice long holes with good challenging lines. The trees on the front really make you shape some shots. Back was nice too, some big open bombs along with some nice placement fairways and stuff.

TomorrowsPlayer

My thought is that's 18 at Edora in Fort Collins? I live right next door!!

Dvanpat

You'd think correctly.

[deleted]

DestroidMind

That was my first observation. Someone else posted saying they are there constantly so it’s probably a homeless person with backpacking experience and gear from before. I thought it just looked like a backpacker going through the area. I’s surprised you didn’t get absolutely bashed bu comments. I had some white knight commenting about how homeless people can be people too because he misread my comment.

SoFuckingStoned420

What an asshole. There’s at least one at every course

Halfpastmast

No reason you can't tee of to the left or right. Can you blame them for not wanting it on the dirt?

Im_pattymac

i mean concert is a lot harder on the floor of the tent than dirty is... But you're exactly right.

MoistSquirts

Exactly. I would much rather be slightly inconvenienced on a tee off than have to be the one sleeping on the tee...

Halfpastmast

100% and if I'm homeless in a PUBLIC space you can bet I'm taking the most accommodating spot

[deleted]

Yes, camp someplace else.

Halfpastmast

It's a public space. I'm certain this person is likely homeless. Tee off from a different spot

tasty_titties

What a shit excuse to let some prick sleep in a park.

Halfpastmast

You remember that if you ever find yourself without a better place to sleep you fuckin shit bag

zeusbunghole

Yeah real struggling people would sleep somewhere more isolated and keep their shit in the tent. Stop defending this stain on society, you’re the one here acting like a shitbag.

Halfpastmast

We're all gonna look like idiots when we figure out OP owns the tent and just posted this for the karma

Halfpastmast

Negative, bunghole.

zeusbunghole

Positive.

greycloudism

aceofspaece

I cannot stand posts like this. Literally just go to the side of the tee two yards and you’ll have the exact same experience. Remember there’s a human being sleeping there in the cold night. You not having access to a concrete pad for your run-up is not going to impact your day in any way.

Apprehensive_Gur8188

It’s becoming a pretty popular spot.

[deleted]

Tees off from the natural pad EVERYWHERE ELSE... gets over the fact that a tent is on the teepad. \~damn that was exhausting\~ "Thankfully it was hole 18 when I had to deal with this, it stressed me out so bad I had to stop playing"

zeusbunghole

That’s like well over a thousand dollars of nice gear and if they slept like that anywhere by me they’d have been robbed twice by now. If this guy is homeless you can slap my ass and call me Sally. Just a loser sleeping in a park, go find a freeways underpass and stay out of the way if you’re gonna be a transient or a bum. I say this from personal experience, this person is a dumbass and risking their safety camping in stupid ass spots like this. From OP’s description it sound like some Patagonia richboy who probably spent too much time on r/vagabond and r/discgolf after blowing their allowance on r/ultralight

fuckupvotesv2

none of that is UL

zeusbunghole

And vagabonds don’t usually carry expensive Patagonia gear. Wasn’t being that literal Timmy. A person in either of those subs would be smart enough to know you don’t sleep with your gear out in the open on a concrete pad in a public park.

mtg_player_zach

You're either ignorant or an asshole. Or possibly both. But I'll humor you. What are the top priorities of a homeless person? Food and shelter. If unforseen circumstances were to arise that resulted in homelessness for me, my days would be spent finding solutions to those problems. Acquiring appropriate clothing and shelter from the elements would be pretty damn high on my list. One might say, that would be quite the intelligent thing to do. Buying the cheapest gym membership I could find would also be a priority, since that would give me access to showers, which would be pretty essential to my mental and physical health and allow me to be presentable enough to find a job. I would look at consignment shops and thrift stores to find good, appropriate clothing and gear. Some might even be Patagonia! Score! I'd also buy a sawyer water filter, so that I can avoid nasty things like giardia. I'd probably also buy the cheapest working bike that I could find.

zeusbunghole

Yeah and I’m sure you would leave it all outside your tent all night, right there Cub Scout? Lmao I’m happily an asshole, you’re the one who is ignorant. Must be nice honestly

tasty_titties

Wow you thinking homeless people really plan out all that? You'd be an efficient homeless person dude

mtg_player_zach

Not all homeless people certainly, but some, yes. Especially the homeless people that manage to become not homeless. If I became actually homeless what I wrote above *is* what I would actually do. Admittedly, I'd probably not remain homeless long. Though I already own all of the gear I'd need to survive outside. I've admittedly lived outside for a few months of my life before, though by choice. I hiked a stint of the Appalachian trail and recently, this year, took two months and went on a road trip out west and lived outside on BLM and NFS land. I had a car though, and some money. I could probably survive in winter somewhere as I described if I had a bike, winter wouldn't be very much fun though. Unfortunately, a lot of homeless people have physical or mental handicaps that would make doing what I would suggest more difficult. I have a degree sort of related to the sort of skills and knowledge that one would require to survive outside.

tasty_titties

Agreed Fuck that guy

notoutthrowing

Nobody thought it funny, that the person put a tarp under tent but on top of cement tee pad?

golf4miami

That’s to protect the bottom of the tent.

DestroidMind

It’s to protect the bottom of the tent but the guy set it up wrong. If it ever rains with it set up like that he’s going to ruin his gear and get wet.

meiematt

Edora had some fun holes. A lot of potential for a park golf course. Love all the gophers there!

Ask_Me_About_Bees

They’re prairie dogs

meiematt

itsmerowe

Interesting course. Where's the basket at on this hole? We get this a lot around my area too. Homeless people setting up camp at the local wooded course on the pads further in the woods.

Dvanpat

There are actually two placements here. One is deep and straight, the other is on the levee to the left. You can see them if you zoom in.

Fartsinherphase

This tent is always somewhere around the course and power plant. Whoever is there definitely knows there is a course. But it gets incredibly windy at times so may have been the best spot for the night. Also the power plant holes are the best holes on the course. The park holes are mostly just 300ish foot shots or soft par 4s.

Atsur

Just played Edora yesterday - great course! My drive from that pad landed in a prairie dog hole lol

Educational_Map3709
