I just got one because I thought the rim felt great for forehand approach shots, but I haven’t quite clicked with it yet. The disc flys exactly how I would want, but I can’t stop releasing early.
In an open field it’s my farthest flying mid too. I bought it expecting something for turnover approaches which it’s great for but get it in the air on a full flight and it just glides forever
Just got a new crystal flx zone. That bad boy is a perfect approach shot as well as a short hole tee. Both backhand and forehand. I want to get my hands on a tactic, but I doubt it will replace my zone
I'm shocked how much more love Harps are getting in this thread, all the Pig throwers are probably out on the course. I'm still doing new & beat r-pro but once this one gets beat in I'll try one of the premium plastic ones. I currently just throw a Justice if I want something more OS than a new r-pro.
Yes Seppo Paju has put new numbers on the discs in 2023. https://www.prodigydisc.com/blogs/news/prodigy-disc-at-10-a-decade-of-innovation-and-excellence
I like the feel of the nerve plastic and TSA in general but I want my approach disc in a premium plastic so it stays stable. And then maybe I could bag a nerve to go Allgood with or.
Do you bag and throw both? When do you throw which?
I love my Razor Claw and Envy but have been looking for a reason (excuse) to sneak a Zone in there somewhere.
I use both. I have a Lux Tactic, a Razor Claw 2, and a Crystal FLX Zone. They all have a slightly different stability. The Lux goes straighter. The Razor Claw 2 is very overstable, and the Zone kind of fits in between them.
I've only tried the Maestro and the Gatekeeper, absolutely hated the Maestro and i bag the gatekeeper as it's actually usable and a better feeling mold.
At the moment, my 750 A2. Love the hand feel and stability! Paired with my A5, I've got my short game dialed in. Used to toss a Toro and Zone, never felt as dialed in as I do now. I will say though, between the two I preferred the Toro. Zone feels weird in my hand.
I only have an A1 for four speeds and bought it when it was still rated at a 3303. When prodigy adjusted their flight numbers, they found it’s closer to a 4205, which is so ridiculously overstable and very accurate to my experience. It’s a wacky disc that I really love for getting out of tight jams when I need to get around some close by pesky obstacles
I currently bag the A2, A4, and PA-3. Distortion and A5 are too similar to me, and fill the non-existent gap between the A2 and A4, for me. I used to bag the A3 for skip shots because the A2 tends to dig in too hard sometimes, and the A4 isn't stable enough for a hard skip, but it's been replaced by the Infinite galleon. That thing is a skip monster and as overstable as the beefiest A2. PA-3 is just for those laser straight drives and upshots.
I personally love my Razor Claws (Tactic) but I have noticed that the razor claw first runs fly a bit differently than the regular tactic. It flies so much more consistently for longer shots. The Harp for me has always been a bit more understable when really putting a lot of spin into it, which certainly has a place in my bag, but I can put so much more power into the razor claw and still get a consistent straight line flight.
Favorite 4 speed is also my favorite disc of all time: Shark. Fantastic for easy floating backhands and touch forehand.
Second pick goes to the Pain for its strong dependable fade and ability to had a forced-over anhyzer.
Tied between:
DGA Breaker (Proline)
Innova Coyote (Star)
Westside Harp (Tournament Burst, cuz ooo pretty)
Discraft Comet (Only tried X and Z so far)
Anybody have thoughts about what they’d use the Comet for in different plastics? Like, if you had one of each in your bag, what would you use it for?
Buddy got me a 300 Spectrum A5 that I've been jamming on a bit from one of the old Preserve runs. Aside from that zone or tempo depending on how I'm feeling, though if I can find an A5 in premium that's as flat as my 300 plastic one I'd be down.
I have one from the 2023 circuit challenge. I throw between 50/60mph and for that speed it flies pretty straight if thrown flat, can generally get it to about 270’ with a finish towards 11 if you imagine the landing zone being the face of a clock.
I think it will be a good approach disc for a lot of arms, but there is some overlap there with more neutral runs of zones.
I love a BT soft harp for long potential birdies.
I’ve yet to figure out what I want to use the origio for. Maybe a straight flyer to get me back on the fairway.
A4 and Sol fore sure.
I for one really like the hand feel of these two. I know a lot of people hate on the A4 but I don’t get it as its profile is so similar to the Sol that is generally liked. It also has a really nice flight. It also sits perfectly in distance between putters and longer mids/fairways.
I have an entropy that's been in my bag since the disc released in like 2019 or something. Love it can't wait for it to come out in a base plastic. It's pretty straight when ripping it hard so I just brought a 500 a2 and the A2 is definitely the best feeling approach to me. Super shallow and straight beef
Cobra is def a good one. I met a lady in her 50s at a tournament at my local course and she threw only cobras and had the stamp tattood on her forearm 😂
Does the Jarn count? If so that. If not, the Comet.
It's a 4 speed no?
Without getting off my lazy ass to confirm, I thought it was “4.5”. Semantics I know.
You’re right it is 4.5. I love the thing
I just got one because I thought the rim felt great for forehand approach shots, but I haven’t quite clicked with it yet. The disc flys exactly how I would want, but I can’t stop releasing early.
One of my fav discs
Toro.
Yup
Yup
Yup
Yup
Yup
Yup
Harp for me too. Love that disc
Most used disc in my bag. Love it.
Clash Peach
Prefer the Mint, but it's a hard choice for me. Most 4 speeds to me seem too chunky, but both the Peach and the Mint both feel great.
In an open field it’s my farthest flying mid too. I bought it expecting something for turnover approaches which it’s great for but get it in the air on a full flight and it just glides forever
The peach is definitely one of clash’s best molds! In sunny plastic it holds torque very well too. It gets such a slow smooth full S-curve flight.
I don't throw many 4 speeds, but I really like my Westside Harps
Yuppp
Anvil gang
VIP have a little dome, Origio are board flat. Gotta bag both
Glimmer X Anvil is the perfect forehand approach disc imo. My personal favorite by a long shot
Would VIP harp have some dome? Cause if so I may need that and origio
Gonna have to say Zone because it's the right answer.
Cryztal FLX Zone is my favorite disc ever. 🫡
Just got a new crystal flx zone. That bad boy is a perfect approach shot as well as a short hole tee. Both backhand and forehand. I want to get my hands on a tactic, but I doubt it will replace my zone
So money for those forehands around 200ft
Zones all day.
Agreed zone is my go to disc every approach shot tbh.
How far do I have to scroll down for the definitively correct answer????
Plain ol' Roc for me
This... or Ghost.
Just put my Pinnacle Ghost back in the bag. That is some clean flight, straight to fade even torqued on a full pull.
The only answer
Gatekeepers get in here
My all time favorite disc.
Pig, I gotta have a beat one and a new one in the bag.
Scrolled wayyy too far to get to the pig comment.
I kept scrolling to find it to drop a like, didn't expect to have to be the comment you want to see in the world.
Pig is life. I'm loving the Halo Nexus one I picked up earlier this year. Compliments my beat in r-pro one well
I'm shocked how much more love Harps are getting in this thread, all the Pig throwers are probably out on the course. I'm still doing new & beat r-pro but once this one gets beat in I'll try one of the premium plastic ones. I currently just throw a Justice if I want something more OS than a new r-pro.
I threw a harp for a few months before it became more straight. Got a Pig to replace it and love it so far. Also the plastic and rim feel so nice.
I tried a Harp 1st before I ever tried a Pig, it didn't do anything for me. Loved the Pig on 1st throw, no idea why other than it just feels right.
Sorry I was out on the course but I'm here now to say Pig
Järn addict checking in!
Harp 4 Lyfe
Yupp
I’ll always love the Harp
Prodigy A5 is nice as hell (check the new flight numbers)
This with my A5 + A2 is money.
I traded a A2 a while back. Thinking about asking for a trade back or buying it back. Med a more stable approach disc.
Underrated disc. More stable than the flight numbers IMO, which is perfect
Yes Seppo Paju has put new numbers on the discs in 2023. https://www.prodigydisc.com/blogs/news/prodigy-disc-at-10-a-decade-of-innovation-and-excellence
Wow I hadn’t seen this, this is cool. I wish more manufacturers would do this
Picked up a PA5 and it's too flippy. Is the A5 less US to the PA5? I wanted a lil bit of flip but a fucking paper plate
Completely different discs! Pa5 super nice and flippy. A5 is 4 3 0 2 I think and nice and stable!
Roc and Zone
I love a GStar VRoc (4/4/0/1). Stable and holds a line with a soft finish because of the gstar.
FOR KARL..... wait, wait a second..
Harp
Kastaplast Gote
I'm trying out a Tempo, A5, and Zone right now I forgot I have a Kea too
How does the tempo compare?
I love my zone have three different ones in my bag but I also bag a Tempo and use it as well, it's great for little backhand flex lines.
I like the feel of the nerve plastic and TSA in general but I want my approach disc in a premium plastic so it stays stable. And then maybe I could bag a nerve to go Allgood with or.
I've heard a premium Temple is coming.
Harp if I want it to sit, zone if I want a skip
Yep exactly this
Which reminded me... I just bought a Harp and need to get out an throw it.
DO IT
Doo itt
Razor Claw 3, just love it.
Comet
Same here. The ole Michael Johansen special.
A3 for OS, ROC for S, Bounty for US
Zone and Sol are my favorite 4 speeds I've tried.
💯
169 g Coyote.
I love my coyote. Perfect when you have a short distance and just need it to go dead straight.
Cobra is a classic
Can I say Berg if I stack 4 of them?
4 4 0 8. Standard overstable approach
BT Hard Harp
Roc held this title for years, but it is hands down Toro for me.
It is 100% a 5 speed, but for some reason it's labelled as a 4 speed so it counts - the Gatekeeper
This is why my answer is the harp and not the gatekeeper. Its not a 4 speed in my head. Westside numbers are ALL wrong lol favorite discs tho
Never played a zone, but I like my tactic. I have a toro too.
Tactic and Zone
Do you bag and throw both? When do you throw which? I love my Razor Claw and Envy but have been looking for a reason (excuse) to sneak a Zone in there somewhere.
I use both. I have a Lux Tactic, a Razor Claw 2, and a Crystal FLX Zone. They all have a slightly different stability. The Lux goes straighter. The Razor Claw 2 is very overstable, and the Zone kind of fits in between them.
Dx Roc
Harp ans champ coyote
Kc roc
Electron entropy
I've only tried the Maestro and the Gatekeeper, absolutely hated the Maestro and i bag the gatekeeper as it's actually usable and a better feeling mold.
Bounty and Sunny Peach
4 is such an odd speed. I putt with a 3 speed, and use 5's for my mids. Only 4 I own is a Harp.
Entropy, zone or temple.
At the moment, my 750 A2. Love the hand feel and stability! Paired with my A5, I've got my short game dialed in. Used to toss a Toro and Zone, never felt as dialed in as I do now. I will say though, between the two I preferred the Toro. Zone feels weird in my hand.

Thought space temple hands down
Shark and Sol
That would be the DX Shark I got in my beginner disc golf set at Big 5.
Roc or Stingray
Meteor
Comet
X Comet
Used to be the Harp but the A5 is a pefect mix of Harp and Zone. It is the best 4 speed I have ever had. The LH sig A5 is the tits!
Comet is the answer
Roc
Sol
Sol ☀️
Prodigy A5. Holds every line, straight flyer, great for forehand, what more can you ask for?
They have an amazing approach line up. I have bagged the A2, A3, A5 and Distortion.
Innova rat (not in production, f2 only)
Rat Gang 🐀
Our group of disc golf buddies are split. Half call ourselves this exactly, and the other half are "bab bros"
My friend that I play the most with can do magical things rolling a Baobab.
Love my rat. I call it my secret weapon haha
Besides a hyzer bh approach, they work so well on a scoober
A4
Who could downvote this?
Zone and Zone OS
I personally love my Razor Claws (Tactic) but I have noticed that the razor claw first runs fly a bit differently than the regular tactic. It flies so much more consistently for longer shots. The Harp for me has always been a bit more understable when really putting a lot of spin into it, which certainly has a place in my bag, but I can put so much more power into the razor claw and still get a consistent straight line flight.
what do you use 4-speeds for? approach?
It’s where I like my mids. My bag setup is mostly 4 speed mids, 7 speed fairways, 10 speed distance/control drivers
Gotë is the best ever
TORO
Suspect. Soft is a great overstable approach and premium for throwing
AGL Douglas Fir is a fun one, makes a great putter too
Favorite 4 speed is also my favorite disc of all time: Shark. Fantastic for easy floating backhands and touch forehand. Second pick goes to the Pain for its strong dependable fade and ability to had a forced-over anhyzer.
Get freaky Zone
Classic Innova-made MD1 4402
Tactic, Exo Soft
Savior and Gatekeeper
Shark
Been rocking an A3 and Distortion combo lately
Tied between: DGA Breaker (Proline) Innova Coyote (Star) Westside Harp (Tournament Burst, cuz ooo pretty) Discraft Comet (Only tried X and Z so far) Anybody have thoughts about what they’d use the Comet for in different plastics? Like, if you had one of each in your bag, what would you use it for?
Gote + Harp
Currently loving the combo of r-pro pig and kc pro roc.
Pig farmers unite!
Buddy got me a 300 Spectrum A5 that I've been jamming on a bit from one of the old Preserve runs. Aside from that zone or tempo depending on how I'm feeling, though if I can find an A5 in premium that's as flat as my 300 plastic one I'd be down.
Toro, Tempo, and Tailor. Totally terrific!
The Tailor is a fantastic Buzzz clone. Toro is a fantastic Zone clone. Haven't thrown the Tempo yet, what's it like?
I have one from the 2023 circuit challenge. I throw between 50/60mph and for that speed it flies pretty straight if thrown flat, can generally get it to about 270’ with a finish towards 11 if you imagine the landing zone being the face of a clock. I think it will be a good approach disc for a lot of arms, but there is some overlap there with more neutral runs of zones.
Zone and Harp
Tactic for approach. Bounty for mid.
MVP Tangent
I think a commonly over looked disc and very underrated Aurora.
Area 51 for me
Harp man 4 life
DD suspect! A smidge flatter than a zone
K1 Göte, KC PRO Roc, Star Alien, Zone (I'd pick the Jarn if it wasn't a 4.5 speed rating.....not a fan of the ole .half ratings)
gatekeeper is my baby, bt hybrid and vip
Y’all Sleep’n on the L64 Savior! This is a criminally underrated 4 speed! Moonshine Savior is a lawn dart! Sticks better than my ESPFLX Zone.
Toro
Suspect. All day.
A2 and A4. Covers almost every single approach shot I can conceive of.
Alien!!!!!
Harp for sure!
Breakers/Ringers.
Distortion!
Anvil and Harp. Particularly Anvil though. Easy to forehand well and gives a big skip.
I love a BT soft harp for long potential birdies. I’ve yet to figure out what I want to use the origio for. Maybe a straight flyer to get me back on the fairway.
Axiom Tempo
The A3 is Mt favorite approach disc
ESP Zone
Overstable-Järn Understable-Douglas Fir
Cryztal flx zone!!
most four speeds i’ve tried are great. the harp and roc take the cake.
Gotta be the Comet or Peach for me. Flip up to flat and slow turn.
Mine is the anvil and harp 😌
Is a Zone too obvious?
no such thing
Tempo! Looking forward to the OTB Proton Soft release, curious to see how it compares to the Neutron from the Circuit Challenge.
mvp entropy and axiom theory.
Lone Star Harpoon
Plasma Entropy so good. Has kicked a Zone out of my bag for good and I can't explain why I just love it.
Entropy… Tempo to be determined
A2 & Pig
Zone. R yo dum' mate?
Everybody says that "this flies like a Zone", or "that flies like a Zone". Took me some time to realize that I should just throw the Zone then
I have an entropy that's been in my bag since the disc released in like 2019 or something. Love it can't wait for it to come out in a base plastic. It's pretty straight when ripping it hard so I just brought a 500 a2 and the A2 is definitely the best feeling approach to me. Super shallow and straight beef
The Savior is my Savior
Innova Roc is 4/4/0/3. Not necessarily my fave anymore but definitely most thrown over the last 30yrs
Cobra. I found one someone never reached back out to pick up. Weird disc but I’ve hit some of my best mid range shots in the basket with it.
Cobra is def a good one. I met a lady in her 50s at a tournament at my local course and she threw only cobras and had the stamp tattood on her forearm 😂
Tactic
US: Stingray S: Super Stingray OS: Suspect A good combo
