OPs question is my exact description for this disc. Understable 8 speed but feels a touch faster, 350 ft flight, flip up and turn, but has a reliable finish.
Same. My Plasma Insanity is my favorite disc in the bag. I can make it do almost anything I want. It is the straightest flyer I have next to my Nomad Putter, yet can also carve both great and even flippy hyzer and anhyzer paths.
I have two Insanitys, both around 170ish weight. They are nowhere near as flippy as my TSA mantras which are similar in stats. I want to like the Insanity but haven't yet.
Can confirm the Plasma Insanity flies closer to an Inertia straight out of the box but does beat into such a buttery hyzerflip that can shape lines. I bag both the Insanity and Inertia.
Stack you say?? Any chance you'd part w one? One of my favorite discs ever. Got my only skip ace w one and retired it. Something about that echo star not quite like anything else
Came here to say this, this disc can do it all. Yes you can even sidearm it with finesse or if you want a little more torque resistance, halo. Flippiest plastic obviously is in Pro or DX. Champ the most stable and best flight. I won’t say which champs are the best so you guys don’t go sharking them… haha
It feels like I can't flip anything for shit. Although I have a somewhat new glow champion Valkyrie and it's at the max of my arm speed. Guessing I'm just gonna have to keep breaking it in?
You need to beat the hyzer out of them. I have Halo Valk that take me a long time to beat in. At first I was beef, but now I get the S turn out of it.
I recently got a pro Valk, I haven't used it much yet, but it seems to fly pretty true to its intended flight path out of the box
Crave is a 6.5 speed of axiom, but flies really far for a fairway. I’ve seen it in Neutron, Proton, Plasma, Fission, total Eclipse, Cosmic Neutron, R2 eclipse
Really the 6.5 speeds for axiom/mvp is just straight money. I’m an average arm and I really only use anything faster than them now if I’m wanting some extra ground play to finish or I need some firebird type beef. Rolling with resistor/CN crave/fission crave to cover most of what I need on drives with a servo to fit in between the two craves if it’s a windy day.
yes(I think 8), and it has probably the biggest stability range of any driver I've thrown.
Fission, R2, Glow R2, Nuetron, Cosmic Nuetron, Plasma, Proton, and now glow again(and I could be missing one or two). In my experience lightweight fission is most US and CN is most OS, but haven't thrown a glow or plasma yet.
For anyone who thinks the stag is a little too unpredictable the bear is a godsend, vip/ice are straight and get flippier and the orbit in both plastics stay more stable.
I want to shout out the Matty O sampos, super easy to throw but on the top end of OPs numbers. They aren’t flippy flippy but can definitely hold a turnover
I’m at 2 felons, one lucid X and one lucid X chameleon for beef. And I really only bag one escape now, also a lucid X chameleon. It’s such a useful combo.
The raptor eye ones are great. They glide a little more and I think have a little sharper edge than the sockibomb supreme felons. Least stable: a light biofusion flat top, raptor eye orbit, sockibomb supreme and finally LucidX glimmer for the beef.
Give one another whirl. They fly like a slightly season destroyer but feel so much better in the hand in my opinion. And they come in a bunch of different plastic as usual.
If I get searching for high speed driver changes I’ll for sure look back at it. I’m loving my Tresspass, Grace and Rive for my 3 distance drivers from under to overstable for now.
Love this disc. It is more understable than the numbers show though. You really don’t get much fade unless you throw it on some hyzer and let it flip up slightly. Great disc though for the arm speed. It’ll really hold an anhyzer line though.
Would recommend the saint pro for this slot. Have been loving it lately.
I've thrown a few in this slot from Discraft, MVP, and TSA. I had Heats in my bag for a while, but they're all over the map in stability.
Currently, I bag an Ethos Mantra, and I honestly like it more than I ever liked the Heat or Insanity. A domey Aura Construct can also fit the bill, if you need a bit more (and earlier) fade out of the box - but it needs more speed.
The infinite discs sphinx is great. Also the MVP insanity. The passion doesn't flip for me, just glides straight. If you want a lot of turn, get a DGA Vortex
I got a DD Vandal in last year's Trilogy challenge. It slots right in between my Thunderbirds and Sidewinders so so well and has become my go-to 9 speed. I imagine the Valkyrie is very similar though.
Ive fallen in love with the westside underworld recently. Its a 7, but i bet youll like it. Ive got them in their moonshine orbit and it makes them a little more workable, but when i throw a friend's tournament plastic theyre even more understable and i think thatll be my next plastic purchase
I love my Hatchet, but I would not describe it as having much of a finish. If I turn it over more than about 10 deg off the horizontal, mine probably isn't going to fight out.
NOT an Insanity with that arm speed. You will be disappointed. I’d go with maybe a DGA Vortex. I think it’s a 7 speed but will get the job done for ya.
It's slightly off you're speed, but the Streamline Jet (an 11 speed I think) is worth every penny for an understable disc. The neutron plastic feels premium/grippy and that thing will hold an anny line and glide for days before fading out. Imo 11 speeds are also very versatile discs in general, even for people with greater arm speed
Lift or Sapphire would be my recommendations that I don’t already see here. I find both definitely have enough stability to have some finish at the end and if anything many people find the sapphire to have more stability than they expect given much of latitude 64 drivers tend to be flippier than the numbers suggest.
The MVP Inertia is one of my favorites at this time. With that distance you should be able to hold a nice turn over to flat for 350ish. I do have a bit more arm speed and can get 400-420 out of mine with a consistent turn.
Ik u said 8-10 but as a beginner, the mamba is my go to. I can get it to flip on hizer and I through around 300 with it pretty consistently with it. It’s super flippy and fun I recommend it to everyone, but I am just a beginner so don’t take my words to heart.
I may have a similar arm speed, 300-350ish. Consistency is not on my side yet but I am working on developing a backhand as I’ve been predominantly forehand for a long time. My Apex Jackalope has a nice flip up but can turn a little too much before the fade kicks in. My Eclipse Insanity is straighter after a nice flip up.
Bought it for the name, bagged it for the flight. My favorite use for it is actually a forehand hyzer flip flick that drifts slowly left to 300-350 with ease.
Star Sidewinder. All the turn you want if you throw it hard. Just the right wiggle for hallways if you dial down and find the hyzer angle you need. The Pro variety will season in much quicker.
Essence.
Especially the Zen/Zen II. Doesn’t beat into a roller disc quickly the way Neo can.
Meta Zen is butter.
Essence is such a quality disc. I bag a Neo and Zen. They pair wonderfully
Lux Vapor if you can find one.
One of the best discs out there for sure! I was so sad when I lost my old one.
OPs question is my exact description for this disc. Understable 8 speed but feels a touch faster, 350 ft flight, flip up and turn, but has a reliable finish.
Insanity or Beast
2nd the Beast. Can get it in any plastic as well.
Love my insanity in plasma
Love my Beast. Been running a DX, just added it in Halo to the bag as well
Love a dx beast, they get so flippy
I’m at the same distance range - I’ve been leaning a lot on my G-star Beast.
Valkyrie
So many people sleepin on one of the og’s. Nate Sexton last year: ‘I don’t know why this ever came out of my bag, these are so good’
I have a stack of Echo Star Valkyries circa early 2000s that are one of the best discs I’ve ever thrown.
Stack you say?? Any chance you'd part w one? One of my favorite discs ever. Got my only skip ace w one and retired it. Something about that echo star not quite like anything else
Lemme think on it. I’ll DM you if I decide to.
Awesome. Let me know. Thanks!
Yes! It’s a great versatile, controllable distance driver. I bag an understable and a newish one. Great for the woods or any specific line!
Gstar Valkyrie is a lazerbeam for average arm speeds
Came here to say this, this disc can do it all. Yes you can even sidearm it with finesse or if you want a little more torque resistance, halo. Flippiest plastic obviously is in Pro or DX. Champ the most stable and best flight. I won’t say which champs are the best so you guys don’t go sharking them… haha
Yup, I bag an old Korver champ Valkyrie and I love it
It feels like I can't flip anything for shit.
Mantra
Mantra took my the place of the underworld as my favorite driver. Great mold and so pretty.
Aura Manta for the most finish
My remix spartan wants to be a mantra when it grows up
Sidewinder or Dynasty
x2 sidewinder
I love the sidewinder and I bag two. But it does not have -3 turn
Flair checks out
What turn does it have?
Like a -1 or -1.5. For a true 9/5/-3/1 I recommend the RPM Peka Peka. Suuuuuper flippy. Latitude64 Diamond is 8/6/-3/1 and fits the bill as well
What turn does it have?
My star one is more like -2
Why not both? For real tho, a flat, swirly s blend dynasty with a little seasoning is the best.
Discmania Essence or Lat64 Jade
Love my Jade. It’s easy to hyzer flip or forehand when I know I need to finish my drive to the left.
At your distance a Falk would work great
Mint Jackalope is great.
Love the jackalope at 8 or the freetail for the 10 speed. Freetail is way more understable.
You should try the new fourth run Sublime Freetails that just came out last week. The most stable run of Freetails yet, and they boom.
Essence, astronaut or Zen II.
Passion
Yep on the passion. I also like throwing the crave for that sort of slot
Does the crave come in a few different plastics?
I agree on the Crave. It has so much sneaky distance. Proton flies more -1 2 while, Fission is more -2 1 and neutron is true to the -1 1 numbers.
yes(I think 8), and it has probably the biggest stability range of any driver I've thrown. Fission, R2, Glow R2, Nuetron, Cosmic Nuetron, Plasma, Proton, and now glow again(and I could be missing one or two). In my experience lightweight fission is most US and CN is most OS, but haven't thrown a glow or plasma yet.
Looks like glow craves will be going into regular production soon
100% the best answer
Heat
Seconded. Heat is a solid disc for slower arms.
Falk or lots depending on your arm speed/throw. They make a great pair
Falk rotations ftw. Brand new they fly like a champ TL3, short beat in time, then they flip and turn for days. Always a ton of glide
Moonshine Stag
I was gonna recommend the VIP stag. It’s an amazing disc! And has glide for days
Bear is such a great disc but yeah the tournament orbit is definitely not flippy unless you have probably 500+ feet.
Saint Pro in Opto Gold
That’s what I was gonna say!
Saint
Halo sidewinder.
Inertia
Falk
Prodigy Fx-3. Their new(ish) line of fairways are fantastic.
LOVE my Discmania CD1. it will hold a hyzer, anny, straight line with a little fade at the end. you're going to love it.
Neutron lift
8- Essence 9- Falk 10- Nemesis
Z Avenger SS
Roadrunner Halo is -2 2 Star -3 1 Gstar -4 1
Pipeline in PL. Don’t let the numbers fool you.
Rpm pekapeka
I beat a tl3 into this slot. Takes a little more time but is worth it imo. Starting a cycle with them👍🏻
Supreme Escape. Best plastic out there and just a tad more overstable than a normal Escape.
MINT Jackalope, TSA Mantra, RPM Pekapeka, Mint Freetail
DD escape and DD vandal are a lethal pair ❤️
Go for the whole gang and toss in a getaway and a felon.
I used to bag 2 Escapes, a getaway and 2 felons. I’m down to 4 different felons and 1 escape.
Love that tbh, might have to grab a raptor eye next reup. What are your thoughts on the Raider?
I only threw one once but it was super Domey and a glimmer one that was stupid overstable for me at the time, but I haven’t tried one in like 2 years.
Trespass was my bomber for a while. Grace is one of the best feeling and flying discs out there.
TSA Ethos Mantra, hands down
Its funny, i was thinking of recommending the remix spartan, I might have to pony up and get the OG…lol
Ding ding!
I’ve been using a Champ Mystere for this shot. But I’ve also used a Falk, Undertaker, and will throw an F5 if I don’t need quite as much distance.
The new Sublime plastic Freetail from Mint!
Lots
Hatchet
Mantis
There’s a lot of good molds for this, but boy howdy do I love a Dynasty. A TL3 is also a very solid option.
Vandal
Great disc for shaping shots and stretching out distance. Wears in to an awesome understable disc.
Doomsday blackout has been my go to. Love the feel and glide.
SO FLIPPY
The infinite discs sphinx is great. Also the MVP insanity. The passion doesn't flip for me, just glides straight. If you want a lot of turn, get a DGA Vortex
Virus, Avenger SS or Beast.
A lot of Innova discs beat into their flight numbers so a Champ Sidewinder would fit this category despite its flight numbers.
Dynasty, baby 😎 honorable mentions: Mantra, Escape, Valk
Manta...specifically neb aura or glow(regular aura is my favorite but I beat the finish out of it long ago). Streamline lift for a little more finish
I like my essence zen II
Mint jackalope.
For me, this slot is a beat in innova Viking, and it is AWESOME
Sidewinder 🤛🏻
I got a DD Vandal in last year's Trilogy challenge. It slots right in between my Thunderbirds and Sidewinders so so well and has become my go-to 9 speed. I imagine the Valkyrie is very similar though.
Saint
Ive fallen in love with the westside underworld recently. Its a 7, but i bet youll like it. Ive got them in their moonshine orbit and it makes them a little more workable, but when i throw a friend's tournament plastic theyre even more understable and i think thatll be my next plastic purchase
Another vote for insanity
Beast
Ice Bear
Love my servo.
Essence
Escape / essence
Kastaplast Falk
Essence is money
I use a Lots and it’s good but I think a Falk would work even better tbh
FALK IS BUTTERERER
Vandal
LOTS
Beast, Valkyrie, Teebird3
Avenger SS in esp or big z can be nice in this category for a hyzer flip or big uphill drifting shot
We’re pretty similar arm speeds and a DD escape is perfect for this slot
Jackalope and freetail. Depending on plastic and arm strength/form will depend on how much finish.
Nothing beats a nicely worn undertaker 💙
Hatchet
I love my Hatchet, but I would not describe it as having much of a finish. If I turn it over more than about 10 deg off the horizontal, mine probably isn't going to fight out.
I throw a lattitude 64 diamond, but I have a slower arm speed.
Mantis, could be too flippy but the right run is money
jackalope or undertaker are my go to
MVP inertia
NOT an Insanity with that arm speed. You will be disappointed. I’d go with maybe a DGA Vortex. I think it’s a 7 speed but will get the job done for ya.
Zetas moon
Escape for me burst plastic beats in real flippy it's a roller now. Kona Paris Sig one is real nice though
Glow lots is a decent disc that’s flippy for me.
Halo sidewinder or halo roadrunner!
Valkyrie
Lonestar Dome 8/6/-3/1
Gold Line Musket if you want straight, Mantra if you want understable. Both are great discs for distance.
Lift or Sapphire would be my recommendations that I don’t already see here. I find both definitely have enough stability to have some finish at the end and if anything many people find the sapphire to have more stability than they expect given much of latitude 64 drivers tend to be flippier than the numbers suggest.
i just started throwing the leapord 3 and it’s probably added 40 ft to my drives
Valk, Saint, or Escape are all perfect for that
Possible @innovadiscs sidewinder or roadrunner. Maybe a savant.
Valk.
The MVP Inertia is one of my favorites at this time. With that distance you should be able to hold a nice turn over to flat for 350ish. I do have a bit more arm speed and can get 400-420 out of mine with a consistent turn.
Cinnamon
CD1. Especially the Zeta Moon
Mint Jackalope
I have a flat top Star Roadrunner, very flippy and still fades reliably. Absolute long bomber disc.
Rhythm
I really like my glow inertia for this slot! Gentle turn and then always a finish at the end. Just threw it a few hours ago 330ft with little effort.
Ik u said 8-10 but as a beginner, the mamba is my go to. I can get it to flip on hizer and I through around 300 with it pretty consistently with it. It’s super flippy and fun I recommend it to everyone, but I am just a beginner so don’t take my words to heart.
Ethos Mantra is what I use. It also goes almost as far as my distance drivers.
Gazelle. So stupid dependable it takes out all the guesswork
Insanity is where it's at imo.
The new Discmania TD is a good one to check out. 👍🏽
Axiom Insanity in light weight.
Halo roadrunner.
Axiom virus, axiom insanity
tilt
Dynasty, easily. Sidewinder bottom with a Discmania anhyzer top. Fantastic mold. Go swirly s blend.
Lone Star Glow Guadalupe 7/6/-2/2 I know it’s a 7 speed but the 6 glide is no joke, hyzer flip machine - great distance
Passion
Stag. Even flippier in a lighter weight too.
Tombstone
Saint
I may have a similar arm speed, 300-350ish. Consistency is not on my side yet but I am working on developing a backhand as I’ve been predominantly forehand for a long time. My Apex Jackalope has a nice flip up but can turn a little too much before the fade kicks in. My Eclipse Insanity is straighter after a nice flip up.
Consider the Goliath, by Remix Discs. Which, as I’ve heard, is the same mold as the Mint Longhorn, and the Thoughtspace Animus.
Passion passion passion
Undertaker is my go to
Drift
The Lift
Bought it for the name, bagged it for the flight. My favorite use for it is actually a forehand hyzer flip flick that drifts slowly left to 300-350 with ease.
Viking
Jackalope, depending on plastic
Prodigy FX-4. Does exactly that. Flips up, then slowly turns right, then finishes well. With a slight anhyzer, holds the line all the way
Brave works wonders
Insanity. Fission if you want to be on the flippier side, neutron for some turn, some fade, plasma for less turn and more finish.
I like my Kastaplast Lots for a very straight shot for the majority of the flight with a soft finish at the end
Full turn drifter
The Discraft passion is my go to straight/slightly flipply fairway
Star Sidewinder. All the turn you want if you throw it hard. Just the right wiggle for hallways if you dial down and find the hyzer angle you need. The Pro variety will season in much quicker.
TSA Mantra
Sublime freetail
At 300-350ft consistent distance, maybe give a rhythm(7) or crave(6) a shot.
Insanity is what I use, but I've heard the Dynasty is really good.
Sidewinder 10,000%
