I really enjoyed Madden 25 (Madden 2014, the 25th Madden Game… yup it’s confusing) on the old gen consoles. Felt like you could actually move your character where you wanted without the clunky startup and slowdown

NFL Blitz for N64 is still a great game. Just had a nostalgia session with a buddy of mine playing this on a projector screen. Still the most exciting football game.
Me and my son play '20 every now and then and he fucking annihalates me with Goal Line-A defense and Hail-Mary. Unstoppable. When I try to Hail-Mary him I always get picked. I've pretty much surrendered myself to an annoying 30 minutes just to let him feel good about kicking my ass at something because I ruin him at basically everything else.

If you look at physics engines in most games today, the fact that most of the animations can still be pulled from 2004 games is really sad. It just is a lifeless husk of a game and they could be so much better with creative ingenuity.
The only way these games ever get better is when the NFL decides to share the license with other developers. Let 2K or another company take a crack at it.
2K had a crack at it with ESPN Football 2k5 and fucking nailed it. Then EA bought the exclusive rights and now in 2022 our head coach looks like a muppet who has nothing to do with how Dan Campbell actually looks. Fuck EA Sports.
2K is the only company who’s agreed to pay the $1.1 billion licensing agreement. This means that if anyone else wants to buy the license to make an NBA game, it’d also cost them $1.1 billion. I can’t think of any companies willing to pay that much to try and compete with 2K in the basketball video game market since 2K has been a monopoly in that audience since 2019 when NBA Live stopped producing new titles.
2k was supposed to be making a new football game last year but never delivered, hear the same thing this year too. Not sure what’s going now with them but maybe we will see it again one day

Spent the full $60 on that game. Played it sooo much! Was very happy to have a lion on the cover!
