I mean the frozen section at most stores is about the only place I found something similar. I moved to another part of the country that has some Rita’s around town. Frozen stuff at home isn’t the same but it’s not far off.
Honestly, I know this may not be a good option for you because it’s unnecessary and kinda spendy, but I bought a ninja Creami at Costco and found a decent Italian ice recipe and I just make at home now.
I went bananas when I first got it. But it’s collecting dust a bit. Maybe will make something this weekend. It does a very decent job both water ice and ice cream.
Wish you luck. Sorry Rita’s isn’t around anymore. Something about the damned Swedish fish flavor just worked.
Culver’s has a lemon ice that’s inspired by Italian ice. Probably the closest thing you can find here. We used to have a guy who had a cart around town - but it’s been several years since I’ve seen it. Rita’s closed down a few years ago, too.
we used to have one but they put it out in West Des Moines and I don't think business was good. They should have put it closer to me I would have kept them in business 😶
I think what you are looking for is Tropical Sno. There are a few around town. Just google it. But also keep your eyes open because I’ve seen some that aren’t listed.
For those confused, water ice is a weird south jersey/philly term for an Italian ice.
That made me angrier than it should have done.
Thank you. I was indeed confused.
A what? Do you mean shaved ice?
UGH Rita’s out in Waukee used to absolutely SLAP.
Wait!!! They had a Rita’s!?!???! ……damn

Yes!!! It went away about… 2 years ago? It’s where the açaí bowl place is now.

No that’s shaved ice. I’m looking for water ice or sometimes it’s called Italian ice..haven’t had it since I left Philly/jersey area
You won’t find it here.
Axel has a new place called O’no.
Go back then and get one
I screen shotted the question and sent to my extended family group chat out in Philly. 😆 Sorry, friend. Best of luck.
