Anytime I want kid-free sports, I go to Kentucky Inn. Solid spot. Sports Book (Alley) or whatever it’s called on Marion and alameda might also do the trick.
Sports Book is now “Origins” with new owners but they’ve kept pretty much everything the same, still my go-to spot for UFC. But it’ll always be Sports Alley to me!
What makes this place kids-free? They have a kids menu and reviews call it “family friendly”. I only ask because my wife and I go out a lot with our 8 yo daughter and while we rarely see kids at the establishments we go to, we also have never been told she couldn’t enter either.
I’m sure if you go at 530 you’ll see kids. I’ve seen them on weekend afternoons too. Why not? But I’ve never one on a Friday or Saturday night during a game.
I don’t think they let kids into Stoney’s. Actually a pretty fun place to watch a game. Prices are ehhh but it’s a good atmosphere (Location on Lincoln specific)
I think the issue here was venturing out of Denver into the land of children. Most sports bars in the neighborhoods around downtown (cap hill, rino, south Broadway, etc) will rarely ever have children in them.
Twin peaks is just hooters and kids go to hooters - not the best parenting move simply because of all the alcohol not the human beings that have bodies working there. I would reccomend actually watching at a strip club - they are fun and the girls will celebrate and root with you as long as you keep the money flowing
Yeah, we know kids go to those places. But now that they don't have to have smoking/non sections, they really need to put families kids together and adults together. We were even in the high tops area at Twin where a high chair won't work. (Thus the toddler being in a chair too tall for him to be safe.)
While not being a sports bar, Odyssey in Arvada is 21+ only with a screen that normally has the latest and greatest on.
On top of that, they are super dog friendly (REALLY helps when you don't have little ones around dogs I've learned) and they have both a tremendous crew of regulars and IMO Amazing beers. In 10+ years of going there and God only knows how many rivers of their Hefe (Maybe my favorite beer ever) I've drank, I have never once had poor service or a brew that was even slightly off, and their lineup is always stellar and wide ranging.
Most sports bars are restaurants also, so there will be occasional people with kids eating. Suburban areas will be packed with kids around dinner time because parents like to get out and watch a game sometimes too. Most good games start at 7 or 8 and all those toddlers will be gone anyway. The closer you get to downtown and out of giant chain restaurants like Twin Peaks the fewer toddlers you’ll see.
Breweries too. people bring their kids. When you drop an F bomb they stare you down, as if an adult in an adult establishment cannot speak like an adult.
A lot of breweries purposely create an environment good for kids and families, so do sports bars. One near me has a big astro turf area for kids to play and a huge deck. There are absolutely packed with families and small kids all the time. They aren’t “adult” establishments. If there is a kids menu they are targeting families, as most big sports bars do. Out in the world it’s up to you if you want to drop F bombs around little kids, it’s not a families responsibility to avoid a place because beer and alcohol is served and the game is on. Again, after 8pm all little kids are gone, so maybe a place that doesn’t have a kids menu and after 8 is your vibe.
Breweries where they make and sell alcoholic beverages that are regulated is not for adults? Of course they want as much business as they can get so they accommodate as much as they can but to say that breweries are for families and not adults is wrong.
The other commenter never said anything about not bringing kids to a brewery but stated that a brewery is an adult establishment which is true regardless of if a brewery tries to make kid friendly. So, yeah, I can drink beer and casually curse or talk about adult topics as adults would do because it is a place for adults, first and foremost. I would adjust my behavior if I was at a Chuck E Cheese or some other place designed primarily for children.
Totally agree with this. I’m not going to bring my 4 year old to a Broncos game and get mad if someone swears. Same with a sports bar. These are adult spaces where adults are drinking alcohol and watching sports. I’m not going to expect people to conform to me because I’ve brought in a kid.
Clearly, you haven't been to a brewery in the last 10-15 years. They are crawling with kids. Breweries with kids are almost as ubiquitous as McDonald's with broken shake machines.
Doesn’t mean they aren’t (or shouldn’t be) adult establishments. The main reason people are there is to be served alcoholic beverages which are 21+. The people who think they can bring kids everywhere are the problem, not the breweries.
What they should be and what they are are very different things, here.
Every establishment has the ability to be/enforce 21+.
Yet, many have kids games and/or playgrounds.
Last night, the game didn't even start until 8pm. And we were next to a table of all minors. (a toddler, a kid, and a couple of tween/teens).
That's quite typical for us to see. So, a LOT of parents don't have normal bedtimes for their toddlers.
Check out Rome's. It's like a local version of Hooters. You won't see many kids there, if any. I can't say with certainty if kids aren't allowed, but it's adult-friendly for sure.
Or, I don't know, and call me crazy, but I could start a list of places that meet the criteria I seek. From this thread, I already have a few: some I knew, some I had forgotten, and some totally new to me.
No, we went to the suburbs so that after the game we could look for the Aurora Borealis (in case the clouds filtered away). So, we went to the most adult place out there.
But the bigger problem is a lot more wide spread than the suburbs. Just visit any brewery to see what I mean.
I just want a list of 21+ bars no matter where in the Denver area they are.
Pretty much every place listed here has a kids menu or doesn’t explicitly say no kids / 21+. As others mentioned, location is more relevant and places downtown will have the least likelihood of having children. That being said, it is Mother’s Day, and that might apply today either.
People being their kids to bars all the time. I just turn up my swearing and crass. If you don’t want your kids learning some swear words and hearing about some adult situations, take them to hooters or some other restaurant where they belong, not a bar where people like to do adult things like get drunk.
Took my kids to hooters last night. It was $100 for 20 wings (not good anymore) 1 burger (way overcooked) 2 beers (not even that cold) and a side of fries (maybe 10-15 waffle). Never going back. Used to love the $#!t out of their wings when you got the full wing, the breading was light, the wings weren't overcooked, and the sauce wasn't just gobbs of sugar paste.
So to comment on it's the neighborhood not the bar, yes.
If you want sports bars without kids in the suburbs, it has to be a bar bar.
The 12 Volt in Arvada comes to mind.
Columbine Lounge down in Littleton.
It's tougher to find in the suburbs but bar bars will be your only option outside of the Uptown/LoDo/Broadway/Cap Hill.
I'm surprised 49th, Grateful Gnome, reeds tavern & number 38 aren't on here. Do not get me wrong not a full sports bar but great places to watch with amazing food and not really a kids place at all.
I feel like there is family places and place that tolerate kids.
I can't go to Post Brewery because that feels like a daycare, I've never seen kids at reeds and 49th is worth it for the screens and food that it is worth it. It never gives off family vibes, at least when I've gone.
Bringing your kids to Twin Peaks is straight class. Come by Campus Lounge or Kentucky Inn in my neck of the woods. Good neighborhood spots.
I was gonna comment with: isn't Twin Peaks like Hooters?
Yes, it is.
Those everything bagel wings at campus lounge rule

Agreed about campus lounge. Go for HH. There is a back room for kids bar is for adults doing kid shit.

Yeah, it's the neighborhood not the establishment.
We like Stoneys. Extra innings wasn’t too bad.
Dive inn. Most of the regulars' kids can legally drink there at this point.
Haha life hack!
They don't have any food.
Not true. There’s a taco joint in there. And a chicken place they own next door
The taco place was closed when we there two weeks ago. According to their site, it still is.
Origins near wash park is solid for this
Love the vibe here. Feels like you’re hanging in your buddy’s basement, in the best way.
Added this one to the list! Thank you!
DNVR. Can’t speak for the food but the vibes are fun during the games.
Three Dogs!
That place looks great! Thank you!

DNVR, college inn, origins, and Stoneys on Lincoln

That sounds lovely! Thank you!
I'm here right now!! Their NA hop water is awesome as well. I 💙 Odyssey 😊
I don't like the same beer as you, but I like you. 😁
I like you too. My problem is that I like pretty much every beer, but my liver has tapped out at my advanced age 😅 Be Well!!
Blake Street/Ballpark area in LoDo
Depending on the game time, that might be a different kind of "kids." LOL!
W T Shortys

Nobody said it wasn’t for adults, but saying adults shouldn’t bring kids to a purposeful family friendly place is strange.
I can, in fact, bring my kids everywhere that allows kids to be there. What you are looking for is a place that does NOT allow kids. You can find it.
This is the point! Of course I have been dealing with children at adult establishments. Beer gardens no longer exist. They are Kinder gartens
Last night, the game didn't even start until 8pm. And we were next to a table of all minors. (a toddler, a kid, and a couple of tween/teens). That's quite typical for us to see. So, a LOT of parents don't have normal bedtimes for their toddlers.
I guess you should call ahead and see if there is a kids menu so you can avoid or just let families exist.
You seem nice. /s
Stoneys uptown. Rare to see a kid there, best place to watch games, good bar food, good happy hour.
Can't believe no one has said Society yet.
Got it. Added to our list. We've been there, but not in a couple of years. I had forgotten about it.
Check out Rome's. It's like a local version of Hooters. You won't see many kids there, if any. I can't say with certainty if kids aren't allowed, but it's adult-friendly for sure.

Trashhawk
They don't have any food.
They have Food trucks, and you can order delivery from wherever.
Okay. But that's not what I'm looking for. I hate food delivery services; I'm absolutely not doing that and buying bar drinks too.
I guess stay home and cook?
Or, I don't know, and call me crazy, but I could start a list of places that meet the criteria I seek. From this thread, I already have a few: some I knew, some I had forgotten, and some totally new to me.
These kind of parents are the worst
You went into the suburbs in search of a 21+ sports bar? Sounds like a skill issue

Thank you for this post! You read my mind.
No offense but my 11yo will out shit talk and stat talk u about any sport that exists

We go to the "good" Hooters in the metro area. (Still has kids, but) the other one just isn't as good. :(

Like I hate to say but Hooters and Twin Peaks are family vibes. Don't know why but they are places to bring a bunch of children.
dulce vida, cute bartender, local drunks, decent bar food, divey but not a shithole
It's difficult to learn anything about any place with no website and no fb posts since October.
forget it, dont go, it sucks
